I find them fine at 45 psi this time of year. Personally I think nics need a higher pressure than other tyres, otherwise they are a bit sketchy (well for me at 14 stone). Just personal preference really, what suits me for the trials I ride. Must admit I let a bit of air out if its wet and technical.

Only tyre I use all year round, loads of grip and very fast. Never had a puncture on them, but I do run them at 45-50 psi. Marmite product in my opinion, but then I love marmite.

I’ve got as many receipts as possible for mine, and taken a few photos. Though I’m missing receipts from stuff I’ve bought off the forums, and bits off ebay is a grey area. I’ve heard you can get your LBS to do an evaluation for you and produce a certificate, which might be worth looking into.

You have to be very careful who you go with though, as some companies (including bike specific) pay out based on the frame serial number year. They take off 10% per year, so my 2003 frame with new fox/xt/dt swiss components would be worthless as insurance claim with certain companies. Make sure you read the small print. I spoke to someone with my insurers and it “should” be ok with photos, but I’m still not 100% certain.

    Deveron, they’re alloy.

Even if you haven’t got a trek, as they have bolt holes to attach to the frame you should be able to weld a flat tab on and drill the holes to fit.

    Check out Merlin’s sale wheels

You can get a rear DT 240s on 717 for just under 180 (great wheel for good price) and maybe get a hope front wheel from them or ebay/wiggle etc. Otherwise they’re doing pro 2 evo on 717s for under 280

I’ve got the 240s on 717 from them and it’s a lovely light-ish (there’s always something lighter) wheel

As soon as you sign up you get 10% off

Yeah I did see that, doesn’t seem to bother the tdf riders but does put you off purchasing.

    Thanks for the reply scardeypants

I really like my m775 xt’s, very solid feel to them, prefer them to elixir. I’d be very tempted to go with the new 2012 version, which crc are selling for the same price (but looks like you’ll have to wait until August):

One added benefit with shimano brakes, is you’ll know they’ll match with xt shifters, but fitting matchmakers isn’t tricky, just an extra cost.

Could be pad contamination, any chance you got anything on them? Can be anything from oil to a sugary drink.

Thanks a lot, could only find discussions on race bike drive-trains. Obviously didn’t look hard enough on here

Yep, my xt cassette came loose after a few months, just re-torque it up, supposed to about 40Nm (which I take to mean as tight as you possibly can)

Although if it is loose I’d take it off and clean it before tightening it, as they can be a pain to get off.

Couldn’t get on both studs, so ended up using these:

    http://www.screwfix.com/p/hollow-wall-anchor-5-x-72mm-16-32mm-pack-of-10/11143

They splay out and dig in as you tighten, so you don’t want to re-hang something in that area.
Holding just over 20kg on 3 sheets thick. Seems very strong and rigid, but make sure you get the correct size for your wall.
