Got mine today as well (non-demo £160 but still an absolute bargain), will be using it next week on the North coast 500.
I noticed OMM postal address is the same as Nordisk UK’s address, I’m guessing this rubbish summer wasn’t the best for shifting tents.
1RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberEngineering – chemicals. I was pressured into it as the previous manager had a nice cushy number lined up to get him to retirement as long as he back filled his position.
It was difficult going from work colleagues to then managing them, I gave it 18months then went back to my old role. That was 10years ago – still here and happy.
I’d rather be on the tools/tinkering with stuff than bogged down in paperwork and having to deal with humans
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberRaid the stationary cupboard/nuts and bolts store / loo roll stash/tea bag tin and blame the shirker seeing as they’re getting framed for everything else
2RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberIs there nowhere else for the scrotes to go where they won’t bother folk? Or can some land be made available to them?
If you didn’t have a field, you wouldn’t buy a cow.

They still have the brand new Nordisk tents available for £160Thanks just ordered! I bought a Nordisk Utgard, groundsheet and bedroom in the Wiggle firesale but it’s a bit too big for solo+doggo roadtrips, the Ydun will be a better size.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberI had a promotion at work which included a £5k a year car allowance with no stipulation on age/type/appearance so I carried on running my old daily driver ex military overlander Defender 110 and thankfully didn’t have to go anywhere in it. Quids in.
4RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberYour either trolling or I’m a bit confused by all of this but some scroaty Mcwanker is riding a motorbike on a path and you think it’s fine because he waved????
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberOpened the thread hoping Guy Garvey pretentious hour had been canned. It spoils my Sunday afternoon tinkering and fettling sessions.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberClimb up the side of that on those pegs? Not on your **** nelly!
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberIt’s near the Highfield Hospital. It’s actually a better / pro level track than Heywood as it’s downhill with some big doubles/triple and large berms. It’s worn out nowadays and the area is a bit scuzzy but it was good back in the day.
3RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberMuch to Bruce’s chagrin – here’s another car thread bumped to the first page.
And the reason being that our 20year old V70 estate mentioned in the first post on this thread has just passed another years MOT at zero cost.
2004 (it has its 20th birthday in a few days) , 208k miles, 1 advisory for a ball joint. Awesome car.
MrsRNP loves it (it’s hers) and is used weekly for her community kitchen for collecting the food donations, wholesalers trips and taking under privileged people on holidays that wouldn’t otherwise have. Not all cars are evil.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberIn the summer holidays us BMX bandits used to ride from Edenfield over Owd Bets then fly down ‘Ashy Valley’, ride at Heywood all day then walk back up Ashy Valley and home.
Heywood was rebuilt some time ago and so was Rochdale but both are a bit unloved/tired (especially Rochdale) nowadays.
7RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberAnother small update and a few photos seeing as mine have disappeared??????…….and nothing much to report! We’ve been caravaning a few times since to various small quiet campsites (no children/clubhouses etc) and they’ve been great.
Car running well but only been used for towing, not done anything to it but it’s just clicked over at 170k so is having an oil change and a prep for an upcoming roadtrip….
Bought a code reader (£160) as the reverse sensors had beaten me, turns out three of them have failed. New ones bought but not fitted yet.
11RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberF.M. this thread had the fun sucked out of pretty quickly.
RustyNissanPrairieFull Memberlist on eBay as spares or repair – plenty of people out there (like me) who enjoy a bit of tinkering.
However it depends on what your value expectations are? Spares and repair people are wanting a bargain they can fix up and constantly gloat about (see my £500 Porsche thread)
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberPhoto hosting still not working – a few of my threads have lots of hosted images via the BB link for forums which has been the default method of photo hosting for years. None of the threads are now showing photos for example
1RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberHeap with duff headlights and a heater that may not work, good luck
Or heated leather seats, steering wheel and still have £500 change.

1RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberFor bangernomics / bargain motoring you need to be looking at either Japanese for reliability or French for rust resistance. You can’t have both!
I sold my sister in-laws Toyota IQ for £1250 which was in great condition but had 180k miles, still going now. Fiat Pandas are good – cheap parts, fairly rust proof (apart from the sumps).
Early Berlingo’s are great, go for a petrol rather than the 1.6hdi, rust resistant, cheap parts, durable usefully little things (I have one)
Aygo’s etc are good.
Try and find one with good MOT history that’s been looked after – they are out there but take a lot of searching. Don’t dither if you do find one.
2RustyNissanPrairieFull Member2x Porsche’s
and a small engine for reduced parking permit fee
Ah! Maybe not then.
RustyNissanPrairieFull Member@Aus – its the point in the rear wheel suspension travel when the rear axle is at the furthest point from the gearbox sprocket and where the chain slack should be checked. Usually by leaning over the bike chest on the seat and pulling the swingarm up with bodyweight pushing the bike down. When the swingarm is at the longest point is where chain tension should be checked.
If the chain has been checked with no weight on the suspension then when compressed it could be getting tight at the longest point and causing the wheel to pull up as the chain is overly taught.
More than likely it’s dead linkage bearings though as above.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberChain sag at ‘max stretch position’ (pull the swingarm up whilst leaning over the seat – I’m sure you know this).
Swingarm chain slipper upper pad condition?
2RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberYep, I can also visualise stress/strain/load paths in objects and fluid dynamics as cavitations play a large part in my industry.
Can’t play the triangle or maracas
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberWork the handbrake mechanism by hand till it’s free. Its 5mins of a job.
Did you prise the handbrake lever/mechanism off when you had the wheel in the air? Did it free up?
If it did you could always set off and not use the handbrake / or free it off again once the handbrake has been used (when parked overnight)*
*Caveat – my bush mechanic skills are high.
1RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberI’ve just had an image Google – the calipers are the same / same design as my full-size mk7 Transit, The handbrake mechanism sticks – mine did it. I remember that I used a Bahco adjustable spanner on the caliper handbrake lever (replicating pulling on the handbrake). I might have slackened the cable adjuster – can’t remember but effectively you need to remove the handbrake cable from the caliper , remove the pads, wind the piston back then then work the lever on and off with an adjustable spanner whilst applying a small well sprayed squirt of lubricant.*
*Caveat – I rate myself as 9 out of 10 spanner rating. Your tinkering skills may differ.
Edited to add – I never changed the calipers on mine, they were fine once I’d unstuck them and then repeated at service time. Don’t attempt to change the caliper the day before a big trip!!!! Something will go wrong.
1RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberIt seems to be that car manufacturers want you to treat an EV like a piece of consumer electronics. They are packed full of tech that the manufacturers have no intention of supporting beyond a few years.
The core systems used in EV are no different to motor/drive systems used in industry. I have a few companies that keep my shop floor running down to component level of repair. There’s no reason why these companies couldn’t repair EV drives and charging systems.
Grey/after market will spring up to repair/replace touchscreens etc. My 20year old Porsche LCD screen has a fading issue – replacements are available from eBay @ £50. The outdated entertainment system is replaceable either via an updated Porsche factory unit or aftermarket Android.
Fundamentally EV’s are far simpler and easier to keep running long term than an ICE, I’m looking forward to £500 EV bangernomics where I don’t have to worry about engines and gearboxes.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberI run the engineering aspects of a COMAH (nasty chemicals) site. We only use one scaffolding company as they are a stand out within the industry in that they can all pass piss tests and actually use harnesses/fall arrests. Company is a great guy , the lads he employs are all a credit to him. He isn’t any more expensive than other coke’d up tube chuckers.
Crane drivers are also big coke users – a couple of years ago I had a big job with a contract lift on site with my regular crane hire company. Decent lads had a good chat with the crane operator between the lift.
Few years later another lift job with same company and chatting to the lads – previous crane operater killed himself over his out of control habit.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberMy parents love the DM and won’t hear a bad word said against it (by me) as it set them up for life financially as they followed some of its advice once and it came in mega quids in. It has however brain washed them into its bile which gets my dad stuttering and stammering when I point out their youngest son is also an economic migrant and ‘took the job’ of a local when he moved to Australia.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberA home based lathe – nothing better in the world for turning perfectly good bits of steel into useless swarf!!!!! (Speaking from experience)
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberFrom zooming in they look like they just push on. Make sure you push on the clip and not the undertray itself
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberNow don’t feel too sorry for the guy as this is a genuine first world problem but my work colleagues Maserati Grandsport is ~ £850 (plus a few hours labour) for an ABS sensor, reason being it’s part of the wheel bearing and can’t be separated. Only available ex Ferrari/Maserati.
Same with the brake discs – factory only at £472 per disc. (RRP £684)
It’s time like this I’m so thankful I run well supported 20year old cars and have an account at Autodoc!
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberThey all mention who the original idea came from. As did everyone who used an FSR Rear end for 25 years.
Paid a licence fee to Horst Lietner / Specialized
2RustyNissanPrairieFull Memberethical” reasons are pethetic.
Ethical = IP protection and supporting UK manufacturing (as per my posts on the original thread where you could have bought Hope for the same money). UK manufacturing also equals fair human rights and environmental responsibilities.
If you worked in UK manufacturing you’d realise the importance of these points and that it’s hardly pathetic but you are free to stick with your Alibaba / AliExpress knock offs and taking money out of the local economy and handing it to China.
