how are the shipping costs etc buying from batteryjunction? i was just a little concerned buying from the states and incurring large import fees and it taking months for the stuff to arrive.

Yes there is a risk, however my boss is well versed in handeling and building Lithium batteries and we have varioius stuff in place at work if something does go wrong.

I would ask Smudge but i feel a bit hypocritical asking to buy the bits from him as he has gone out of his way to help others with cheaper than normal batteries on this forum and his prices for his batteries do seem very competative. I simply don’t have that kind of money just now and wouldn’t like to be seen to be taking buisness away from him.

I’ve used Sennheiser CX 300 headphones for a few years now and they are great, they normally sell arround £20-25, i have had 2 pairs in the last 5 years so they last pretty well too.

I also have a £60 pair of shure in ear headphones that barely see the light of day because these ones are very nearly as good and comfier.

Glad to hear you are keeping the bike, the winter months are always the worst for finding motivation to ride. I generally try and keep myself interested by fixing new to me stuff that will go onto my bike in the spring to improve it to re-light my enthusiasm when the weather is good enough to bike again properly. This year i am re-building some Lumicycle halogen lights with some help from Trout and BlackCatTech to hopefully extend my riding season and now can’t wait for some slightly longer days and warmer weather.

Could you pick up a second hand marshall practice amp from eBay in the mean time to tide you over untill you can get all the kit you really want?

One of the guys at work is really into his gitars and has heaps of equipment but says he uses the practice amp most as he can use it anywhere in his flat as he doesn’t diturb the neighbrs with it. And it was one of the cheepest things he got.

Those pictures are not good. You need to loose some of the clutter and depersonalise. Does it cost more to put more pictures up, by the sound of it some of the rooms need pictures from 2 views to really show them off.

    From my point of view

Lounge:- Lamp and industrial lighting unit to go.
    – You have a chair in-front of a window seat WHY?
    – Change the painting above the fire for some more neutral piece of junk from Ikea
    – does the fire work? get some wood in there make it look like it does sell the image.

Garden:- Looks like a jungle cut it all back, lay some turf if you can afford it, 2-300 on grass to promote a nice garden will pay you back.

Kitchen/Diner:- Where is the Kitchen??? loose the stereo and flex, maximise the work surface space.

Hallway:- AAARRRGH red, tone it down, paint over it. Loose the pin board, it looks like it belongs in your man cave anyway.

Bedrooms:- So you say you have 2 where are the pictures??

Sorry if this sounds harsh but your agent should have been telling you this.

Cheers for the reply trout, obviously just my brain going into overdrive. I am more used to making stuff for the oil industry where you want to make everything as water/oil/mud tight as possible to help prevent the ham fisted operators knakering it by leaving sitting on the drill floor or in a puddle for some unkown reason.

    cheers

Time to resurrect this thread again as I now have some stupid questions of my own.

How did everyone go about sealing the light units?

I don’t want to simply fill the thing with silicone as it will be a right pain to strip down again.
Are the main areas of concern the screw for the bar clamp, the switch and the power connector? Can i simply take my time and try and seal these area on there own or will simply covering the PCB in silicone be enough?

Has anyone done anything about sealing the front of the light? I was thinking of trying to get a thin piece of clear plastic and an thin O-ring of some sort to help protect the optic and give it some kind of protection from the elements.

    Wooo hooo,

All parts have now arrived, a couple of quick questions for all of you that have wired up the lights.

I have a blue and a brown wire from the led’s. I would like to think i can presume Brown is +VE and Blue is -VE but there is one thing i have learned, that presumption can easily lead to the mother of all **** ups.

When I come to wring the 3 position switch I see I simply wire pin to pin, does this put high at the top or bottom?

When wiring power I realise this is very important so I don’t fry the circuit and I know the centre pin of the power connector is +VE so that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

    cheers

Roof carriers are great, i’ve got thule aero bars and mt blank roof carriers (good deal on ebay). A toe ball and carrier were going to be too expensive for me. They do reduce economy and performance of my 1.4 litre polo but i can still get over 70mph eventually and i have never had a concern the bikes were going to shift up there.

I took a rental fiesta from Frankfurt up to Munster on the autobahn and it was great. At some points cars do come up behind you fairly quickly even if you are doing 130Km +. Remember your lane disipline and move back accross whenever possible as there will be people who feel happier going faster in much more powerfull cars but you can have alot of fun guessing the cars as they fly past.

V12’s can be tightened with an allen key or using a pedal spanner (15mm Spanner I think). There is a different thread size for BMX (1/2″ x 20 tpi) and mountain bikes(9/16″ x 20 tpi) The V12’s will still fit as with all other pedals that are 9/16″.

My suggestion would be if it is your first foray into proper pedals then look at the less expensive V8’s to see if you like the platform then upgrade at a later date. A few people on here like the superstar nano pedals so they may also be worth a look.

Above is a link to Amazon to get a small bottle of it. I also use it on chainring bolts and grub screws on my pedals.

I realise this is a bit cheeky so appologies in advance.

I recieved a Rab Storm Bivi bag as an unwanted present a little over a year and a half ago. It has not been used or even opened and i just came accross it un-packing my last few boxes for my new flat. If any one is interested in it i’d happily sell it for £30 posted. My email is in my profile.

Once again appoligies for hijacking the thread

My advice would be to try and get down to a big bike shop that has lots of stock and try her on a few different sized frames both womens specific and mens, at 5’5 dependant on her build she may feel more comfortable on the likes of a mens 16″ frame than a womens specific frame. It will make it much eaasier to pick a frame and you will be less likely to put her off biking when you know what feels best for her.

My girlfriend took me to a vegetarian deli in Edinburgh for lunch the other day when we were sale shopping i got a spicy bean burger with sesame seed crust and it was brilliant. They looked like the type of thing you could make a batch of then part cook and freeze.

You essentially need 2 kits, one from Trout which will have the heat sink led’s and optics then a second kit form BCT which will have the driver with built in resistor and a 3 position switch.

I have told by the guys at work you should not mix the coulors of anti freeze, they use different chemicals that do not mix well together. Get a small 1 litere bottle of concentrate pink anti freeze and mix it no greater than 50-50 with water to add to your system
