Set one off driving towards it once but didn’t get a ticket. This may be utter tripe but i was led to believe that the cameras were not clibrated for reading the speeds in the other direction so could not give an accurate reading therefore can not issue a ticket.

Do tyre levers count? I must have 8 – 10 sets between my one bed flat and my girlfriends one bed flat. That is almost a set per room of the combined 2 properties we own and i can never find them when i need them. I know i have had this problem before so previously I had started to put them in a safe place where I would always know to look but i can never seem to remember where that is.

I don’t know if that is a DW Link? It is not like the original DW bikes of Iron Horse and Turner where there are linkage plates and the shock is vertical but it does look sililar ish to the current Pivot bikes which i think are DW as well. Very confused now :?

I got my last lot of spokes from Rose bikes. I went for DT Swiss competition. It depends if you want silver @ £5.90/20 spokes or black @ £8.90/20 spokes you will need to add £1.79 per 40 nipples you need. But it still works out less than £40 for enough black spokes to do 2 wheels with plenty spares. There was an additional £5 delivery charge but even with that i was a good £10 cheper than CRC.

Have used them for winter tyres, not for steel rims though.

I can’t remember exactly how much the steelies were from mytyres but IIRC it was about £30 a rim and i got a set of 4 alloys from ebay for 90 delivered so was better off doing that.
An even cheper option is to ask at your local scrap yard for steel wheels of that type (easier if you know the size, width, PCD and offset) as i have heard of people getting wheels for as little as £10 a wheel. Even if they are a little rusty just now you will have plenty time to clean them up and re paint them with hammerite or the like and you would still be quids in.

Tell your friend to have a look on page 1 of this thread for my post regarding clothed back sand paper (the flexable stuff from B and Q) between the plastic parts and the stand. And kayak23 post on what he did to prevent rotation of the clamp.

hope these work for for your friend.

For all of you that have just bought one, I have had one for about a year and so far the best solution I have found to preventing the clamp twisting has been to put in a layer of cloth backed sand paper between the plastic parts and the metal. I initially used plumbers tape but that was useless. Getting the sand paper to fit where you want it can be a little awkward but persevere as it makes a big difference.

I don’t know the process for the superstar hubs but if you go to the Hope how to videos it could give you a general idea of what to expect. For pressing the bearing into a hope hub you get metel supports and bearing drifts, alot of prople use sockets and a vice instead and tap them into place with a plactic mallet. Having the specific tools eliminates damage to the bearings but if you are carefull in what you do with a socket i’m sure it’d be fine as well.

In the end i went for the second hand Park TS-2 stand which i got for £135 including the tilting base. I figured for that price i had nothing to loose as i’d be able to sell it on in the future if i don’t get on with it.

I know before you all say it i am a tart.

15% off doesn’t work for me either, i want a fox flux helmet and it has a list price of £70 so should be ok but all i get is the following error

The voucher cannot be redeemed; either it has been entered incorrectly or is not valid against your basket.

You might be as well looking in the classifieds for some second hand hope hoops the likes of pro2 hubs on dt swiss EX 5.1 or ex500, you should be able to get a decent pair for £150 -170

    Bump for the morning crowd,

Should I go for the expensive Park Stand? the middle of the road Minoura or the more basic Unior stand in conjuntion with the Wheel Pro tools for truing it up?

    RustyMac

    rootes1

your original stand is class but something i can work on in my flat is kind of important. I’m guessing the process of truing and tensioning the wheels is gonna take a little time and sitting outside to do it in Aberdeen isn’t the most apealing prospect.

I just read that as trousers rather than tourers

Park TS2 second hand is gonna come in at £150ish, i didn’t like the idea of having to swap the wheel over on the chepar park one so ruled it out. I had a look a the trax one but thought it looked a bit wobbly.

I have used my bike previously for wheel truing but would prefer a stand rather than dragging my manky bike into the flat each time i want to build/true a wheel

I found dirt school really good to be honest, I went on there trail high school wit my cousin and we wen’t over alot of stuff to do with general trail riding:- flat conering, berms, using the trail to get the most out of it, small drop off etc. Have a read of the descriptions of the corses they do as they are pretty accurate. Andy Barlow is a good guy, was alway able to explain things in more than one way if someone wasn’t getting what he ment.

As i said i really enoyed it and found it really usefull. My email is in my profile if you want to ask any other questions.

I have been on a skills day but with the dirtschool guys at glentress. My thoughts were

1 I am looking to impove my skills, i’m gonna take the bike that doesn’t compensate for my possible bad habits.

2 I am going to be doing things i have found difficult in the past, i am going to want the option of getting off/away from the bike quickly.

So my vote is Hard tail and flats

Good to hear so many posative things about the shop

You could try droping him an email expaining the problem and then buy the parts to fix it through him. he seems a decent guy so i’d think he would try and help you out where he could.

I read on another thread he built up a shock and sent it out to a guy in morzine who had blown his up on the first day of his holiday.

Yeah that’s the shop, hadn’t come across it before, had no real reason to think it was dodgy but figured a quick question on here would do no harm and get rid of any niggles in the back of my mind. Will give him a ring before i buy.

Thanks all for the quick responces.

I think the sport personality of the year will be a tough on this year. Clarke and McIlroy winning majors this year, Cavendish winning the green jersy, Murray reached the finals of the Australian then semis of Wimbledon with the US masters still to come.

Not wanting to take anything away from a outstanding performance by Mark, but there are other sports persons who have had big results this year as well, I jst hope it doesn’t go to a footballist or a boxer again.

Washer is a possibility for my system, don’t believe there is an air lock. Cister is old and must have ben mega cheep as it is platic (the entire thing not just the internals). Just need it to work for a year or so to give me time to save up for a new bathroom.

Do you know how you go about sorting this? Is it just a case of replacing the internals of the cistern?

I have exactly the same problem as garry!

If the spokes do not have to be CX-Ray have a look at Rose Bikes web site for spokes, I just bought some spokes from them last weekend and they were delivered by Tuesday. I went for DT Competition spokes in black and got 80 spokes and nipples for £39.20 + £5.05 postage and it looks like you could get the DT Swiss Revolution spokes in Silver for the same price.

If the lock is for a door, you need to think about how secure the locking point is:- There is absolutely no point in getting a £120 lock if is is holding together a flimsy hasp that is screwed in place and could easily be leavered off.

To give you an example, on the shed at my mothers i installed a large brenton bolt with button head coach bolts which secure through the main uprights and cross members of the door and surround and put one of These Locks on the door and i would concider it to be a pretty good match.

In my oppinion where the Squire SS65CS really comes into its own is when used like THIS and the chain is secured through a ground anchor.

Hear is a heap of Padlock Info. What is your planned use? is it for a big heavy chain or for some kind of door/hasp lock?

Wo wo wo wo wo what am I being dragged into now, I don’t do programming. Just. Remembered from uni that formatting was important to it running smoothly and additional symbols can close other parts of the program un intentionally and some times these things are over looked by someone looking for a more complex problem. Hopefully mol will have the problem sorted now any way

    Do you own the property?
No – Look into Arial booster or rental agrement (you may be able to get them to replace it if it is faulty)
Yes – find a friendly Ariel installer and see if they will install a new bigger ariel for cash on a saturday afternoon

Is it a comunal Ariel? they are always poorer for signal quality, look into getting your own independant ariel if possible.

All indoor ones are pants in my experiance.
