The one on my Ironhorse MkIII seems to be doing a grand job, looking like it could do with some new seals next service so may see if there is any upgrades that can be done then but been very happy with it so far.

I wouldn’t and haven’t picked a tradesman because of his apperance, I don’t think having your comany logo on your shirt or jacket is necessery but i would expect someone to turn up in clean clothes witout holes ripped in them.

A clean well cared for van is something i look out for, not too fussed if it signed up or not. I do know of some people who use the magnetic signs and pop them on the van when on the job as it were to help generate buisness. In the past i have had neighbours come and ask me for details of a sparky i used because they saw his van outside my flat.

I have been running a nuke proof headset to allow the use of tapered forks in a 44mm headset – essentially the same as you will be doing witht he cane creek hedset. I have been using this all summer with no problems to report so far.

The set up will further lengthen the axle to crown lenght by about 10mm so will further slacken the front of the bike.

Have you seen the all new Darkness Dominator on Trouties site?

See thresd of riding trouts cutie for peoples reviews of the prototype for it.

This may change your mind on which one of his lights you want to go for.

With light relecting off it i’m sure you could concieve it was silvery grey then when looked at flat on from behind it is a dark grey. Your story seems to tally as far as i can tell but i am no insurance expert. Good luck with the claim, don’t let them fob you off, as others have said seek profesional advice before replying.

+1 on what Lethal D said, it looks lush.

Don’t know specifics about the seat tube or ISCG mounts, can’t seem to find any info on tinterweb.

Buy yourself some of these to measure the seat post diameter

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150-mm-6-Digital-CALIPER-VERNIER-GAUGE-MICROMETER-9717-/170701667282?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item27be9cbbd2

Digital calipers are really useful for things like bolts, shock mounts and figuring out the size of bits and bobs if you can’t find the manufacturers specs.

ISCG mount thing you link to should provide you with the mounting points you require and possibly give you a better selection of chain guides to choose from. Although I believe you can get chain guides that mount to the BB in place of a spacer, just like the adapter. It may be easier to get a specific chain guide rather than an adapter then a guide.

It may be worth having a look at the Trek forum over on MTBR and asking there if you have no luck here.

I would expect the battery would come with a bag and charger, if not smudge at http://www.mtbbatteries.co.uk sells the exact ones you need.

Chris is really friendly and has put up with a number of daft questions from me relating to some DIY upgrade stuff he had done, asking about his main products will get the same enthusiatic responce i am sure.

I just replaced the jocky wheels on my Sram X9 derailer last week, ordered the BBB ones from dotbike ant they arrived the next day. Instructions tell you which bushes to use, the pack includes heaps for loads of different mechs. I think i used the H ones but just matched which looked right and then went back to the instructions for confirmation.

When you get them and look at the instructions the drip in between the bushes is OIL not super glue as i first thought (really glad went back to the site to check on that one).

Instead I thought just shorten the copper pipe and re-join with an isolation valve?

tis what i did, works a treat. Local isolation valves are great if you ever need to service anything past them – flexi and taps or if you change basin etc

Just remember to clean the copper pipe before putting a fitting onto it. by clean i mean remove any paint if it is painted or give it a bit of a rub down with wire wool if an older bare pipe. This will give a better seal with the compression fitting.

In a normal week i’ll get through 5-10 units 4-5 bottles of beer.

If i go out with the boys that figure quickly goes out the window, especially when we get started in about the rum but that doesn’t happen so much these days maybe every other month.

Seems high to me, get a second quote.

    would have thought £800ish

I know the cables are expensive, especially for 10mm stuff for the shower as it sounds like a long run.

price up the parts on Screwfix and that should give you an idea of what to expect.

Yes completly different size and not compatable with one another but the difference is only small.

An alternative to loctite could be different bearings.

I know for example the OD of a Hope bulb bearing is very slightly smaller than the OD of a pro 2 bearing (the ones that sit inside the rear hub shell), could a more suitable fix be trying to source a bearing with a slightly larger OD so that it fits without the use of retaining compounds?

This is presuming the frame is out of warantee.

Loctite 641 is green very strong loctite

my bad it is medium, got confused with 620 that is the strong stuff
