Binners and random quitting smoking rage attack shocker 😉

P.S. Keep up the good work on quitting.

Having watched a bunch of the videos of the trails out there out of my 130mm HT and 145mm FS i’d be taking my full sus.

Most of the better bearings in wheels these days are 2RS for better weather proofing.

As for the DU I’m not too sure. But if the dimentions are the same then you should be fine.

vinnyeh i think it kind of makes sense, LoCo sells ready fettled sockes and i expect i will be using him for other consumables oils seals etc so when it comes to the fork service i’ll probably pick one up at the same time.

I noticed this teng set but it is just a bit over budget, could be a possibility if halfords don’t bring there set down in the next few months though.

Cheers for all the repies guys, looks like i’ll just have to put a little bit more money aside and wait for halfords to bring the 150 piece set back down again in price.

There are a few scamps selling them on ebay for £130 but i’ll hold out.

I had a quick look at the other brands mentioned and all the stuff looks very good but just a bit pricy for what i want to spend, however if anyone knows of any mega deals i should concider please point them out.

Once you have figured out what you want made it may be worth a Machine shop near … required for a simple job tread.

Only looked on here to recommend Halfords but I guess you know that already

I’m getting that impression, just wish the site would stay up for long enough for me to compare some of the products 👿

I have a set of Torx L shaped drivers that I had to buy previously to move the lock hasp on the door of my car when I fitted the roof rack. Having a set that has a lifetime guarantee though would be good as three of the 10 heads have bits snapped on them now.

Just had a quick look at halfords stuff and lots of it seems to be half price.

What is the best way to go abuot getting the socket sets? One of the big bundle packs like falkirk-mark suggests or going for the individual sets?

There is this one which is 1/4 and 3/8 for £50 would i miss the 1/2 inch drive stuff?

There was some individually packed sets where i think i could have got a 1/4 and a 1/2 inch drive for £75 ish but the site seems to be playing up so i can’t get the links to them.

What width are the bits in it just now?

You could look at getting something like this 8mm plate (if it is the right kind of thickness)

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-Plate-185x52x8mm-/150719598640?pt=UK_BOI_Metalworking_Milling_Welding_Metalworking_Supplies_ET&hash=item2317969030

    or this 12mm plate

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-Plate-150x116x12mm-/400268231745?pt=UK_BOI_Metalworking_Milling_Welding_Metalworking_Supplies_ET&hash=item5d31d88441

And take it to a local machine shop with a little annotated drawing of what you want, for example the Outer Diamiter of the circles to be cut and the Inner Diamiter and they should knock them out in no time at all.

    P20,

The DW suspension system is a bit love or hate, I have an Iron Horse Mk3 and I get on with it really well but a few of the guys i ride with have Yetis (newer shape 575, ASR5) that they love and found the suspension action on my bike a little odd. i’d definately recommend trying to get a test ride to see if it works for you.

    Great idea Stan_Dingup,

I think we have a cyclus one that the club owns that was becoming a little redundant as more and more folk have intigrated or 1.5 head tubes a fix like that could give it a whole new lease of life.

Damn it, I can’t seem to post the video from pink bikes tech tuesday for setting up your front mech. Below is the link to it, i found it quite helpfull when i serviced my bike last.

    http://www.pinkbike.com/video/159662/

If you can get that XT mech from Jenson for $19 it is a bargin.

Good luck, hope you get it all sorted.

My choice would be the Remedy, i borrowed one from a mate for an afternoon and loved it. haven’t ridden a FSR but the remedy is defnately on my list if my Iron Horse Mk3 dies.

No you don’t, I currently have raceface cranks a hope bottom bracket and a sram front mech all working fine together.

Your deore deriller would work fine with thoes cranks if it wasn’t bent so badly out of shape.

Also from that pic it looks like you might have a cracked big chain ring 6 or so teeth round from the A of FSA

Did you note the box being bashed on arrival? If so the seller should be able to claim for the damage to the bike and give you the money to get a replacement front mech and rear hanger.

If not you may have bought it from a decent seller who would chip in on getting you a new front mech, they are only £18 from merlin.

Just remember when you come to remove the 20mm ones they are held in with cir-clips and the 15mm ones just push in like the QR ones.

there is a good video you can watch over on the hopetech website if you are unshure.

    ohhh but they look good!

Let me get this right, in that pic you have a purple hub built onto a white rim with a green skewer and you are commenting about them looking good!
I am almost surprised you didn’t go for pink disk bolts for the full eye bleach effect.

Bloomin nora that is a tight fit!!!

It wouldn’t take much for you to pick up a stone or branch and jam it in the arch of your forks and do some real damage to you or your forks. Or even carcha stone in the tyre and ping it off the stantion of the fork.

I’ve ridden with a 2.25 ardent up front and it pretty big it is about the same as a 2.35 High Roller (the original one) that i’ve also used.

My personal thought is i wouldn’t be any bigger than the 2.25 ardent size on a trail bike.

my girlfriend had a damp patch in her flat that was being caused by a number of factors, 1 a cracked gutter, 2 a leeky window and 3 a build up of crap in the wall/under floor.

The only comunal part is the gutter. This will be listed in the title deeds of your property.

The fact his flat is suffering from damp is his problem, the damp course is a dubious one but when we asked a few damp specialist companies to quote they all said it would be my girlfriend’s responcibility and not communal expense, i asked this question to them all as the expected cost was high and the answer was the same every time.

If the roof leaked and you had to fix a ceiling do you think he would pay???

Contact trout he is your best bet. Don’t know what the final outcome of the tread was as it kind of got caried through a few other upgrade treads that were going on at the same time.

I think the main factor that has caused the loss in popularity as has been mentioned above is the cost, golf in the states is massively expensive compared to over here but even over here the price is prohibative.

As people get squeesed by the recession luxuries have to go, golf is for many a luxury and for some one they can no longer afford.

I used to play alot of golf and used to have a single figure handicap however the cost of membership was £5-600 per year. With working and trying to do up my flat i could no longer justify the expense. I miss not having the handicap as i can’t play in any of the work competitions but still enjoy the odd bounce match with friends and collegues at the golf club the company has corporate membership at.

As for the age thing i’m 28.

Front derailleur could be twisted too – not exactly parallel with the cogs. Thre are various guides on pinkbike on how to do maintenance one of htem wen’t into setting up a front mech so it could be worth a look before you go mad.

I just got some repair work done on my windows and the quotes varied massively. In the end a local company quoted a price for replacement of all the glass and renewing the beads on wooden windows that was cheaper than a few of the big name companies were for simply renewing the beads. It certainly paid divedends for me asking about and calling a number of people for quotes.

The X-Type BB’s seem to be very hit or miss, i have one that has been fine for years, others only seem to last weeks. there are some companies out there that can put new bearings in the bb shells but for the life of me i can’t remember whoe does it just now.

Rose bikes sell them individually or in packs of 20, nipples are extra but only cost buttons, well worth a look especially if you want black spokes.

c_g I a kind of suprised by you saying

Bike was extremely muddy yesterday and was disappointed with the pressure I was getting with it, used plenty of water too. Hence my question about the Mobi,

One of the guys i ride with has a nomad and it seems as powerfull as the mobi one i have. Have you had a look at video on the Nomad website to see how you can adjust the nozel for a more powerfull jet?

Also reading the instructions for my mobi one of the things it mentioned was there is a water filter inside the main water container that may need cleaned every now and then. This may be the same with yours so also worth a look if there are any service guide on the site especially if it has sat arround for a bit.

Soner type something this bit for a post to go up. Then when you post you can add a tag by putting it in the tag bit under the Post bit

Thanks slowrider and jockhaggis, much appreciated.

If my frame has a larger seat tube OD than 34.9 i’ll email 18bikes otherwise i’ll just go down the route of a 27.2 and shim untill i can afford a new frame.

I don’t do the same type of riding as jedi but being a bit of a clumsy hefer it’d probably be a safer bet.

Well maybe not if the santa cruz bike are ok with it?
