Ok,
When do i need to take a tactical coffee break to catch the last 10-15 minutes or so? I-player is no good on my PC and there is a TV with it on in the break room.
TIA
RustyMacFree MemberWhat distance is the TT?
With it being so flat what kind of speeds should be expected?Just got it on now sorry if this has all been covered
RustyMacFree MemberCheers Steve,
Interesting read, the current on offer price of the Nikon 1 J1 is pretty much all of my buget. I’m going to guess the Canon that is referenced is Canon EOS M which is more than i can afford so although it seems a better camera is not a concideration for me.
Also I would expect the J2 to sell at RRP for the first while so will probably be over budget for me too. Thanks though all good info
RustyMacFree MemberCheers Geoff,
How long did postage take?
Are the memory cards comming from the UK or China?
RustyMacFree MemberLooks like team hoppy took it in the end, congratulations to Chris. I am chuffed to bits with my top 10 finnish, it may only be 9th but for a first go not to bad.
RustyMacFree MemberThat is an amazing price!I should really sort out breakdown cover for my car, had put it off so far as it never seemed good value for money.
How does this quidco stuff work?
Do the offers have a limited time frame? – i’m not going to be able to apply till the weekend.RustyMacFree MemberSeems to be winding up a bit now, really hope Voeckler can get another stage win.
Not heard much about Frank removing himself from the race, did that happen today or yesterday?
*wonders how long before the Frank just say no jokes begin*
RustyMacFree MemberYt- industries wicked 150. 1800-1900 euros which should be about 1500 pounds ish
[edit] if you use that link above posted while I was typing it takes you to the correct site[\edit]
RustyMacFree MemberThings to consider are where the joists??? Are that support the floor when positioning the ground anchor. Next thing is just buy a ground anchor. I got a squire one for £30 ish so they are not expensive.
RustyMacFree MemberSeems quite a bit. I got 8 double glazed units replaced for £750 all different shapes and sizes. All these were replaced in a first floor flat for that. Get some more quotes, I found my local glaziers were way better value than the big boys.
RustyMacFree MemberHopefully this will go some way to silenceing the doubters for his Olympics attempt.
RustyMacFree MemberYeah definitely missed that the points didn’t look like that when itv posted them after the stage.
RustyMacFree MemberI knew Goss got points deducted but didn’t realise it was all of them for the day, thought it was just the ones for the last sprint – my bad.
Also thought they may want to give him a bit more support as Goss and his team seamed to be the ones in command when it came to the sprints.
RustyMacFree MemberWhat happened to the Peter Sagan love in ??? Gawd realman you can be so fickle sometimes! 😉
Although I would love to see team sky go out there and boss the stage today and set it up for a big finish for Cav i think the liqigas boys may be thinking they need to be a bit more for Sagan after yesterday.
I’m gonna go for another win for Sagan and a finish line celebration mimicking karate kid.
RustyMacFree Memberif you take a look on the mavic-tech website you should be able to find some info on the wheels username is mavic-com password is dealer. I had a quick look buit not knowing your exact wheels makes it impossible to figure out if it would work.
Have a look at the size of the bearings, this will be the key limiting factor.
My idea would be take the bearing size or model and put it into simply bearings bearing finder to get the dimentions then go to hope-techs web site to find the size of bearing they use, get the ID from hope and the OD from mavic and see if there is a bearing that is that size.
If there is space for a bearing there should be space for a centre tube if you follow a design similar to the hope one then you would just need to figure out end caps.
RustyMacFree MemberIf you are looking down the route of making adapters for the forks could you not look at the option of some custom end caps, new spacer tube and specing some bearings to suit?
Take a look at how your pro2’s work – 20mm adapters held in place with C-clips bearings that sit on the 20mm axle then a 20mm centre tube supporting the inside of the bearing and onto the inside of the hub with an o-ring.
Get a cheap pair of verner calipers and you thinking cap on.
RustyMacFree MemberThe OH got me onto wide … and now it feels alien for anything smaller
REALY 😉 😳
RustyMacFree MemberMiddle button works!
Right button does not, possibly an issues with internet explorer on my work laptop. IT policy has not upgraded us from IE 7 for security reasons yet and we get a doing evey now and again for installing un autorised programs.
Damn it, tried a few other sites and it my crappy work computer that is the problem.
RustyMacFree MemberIt depends on where you are and the condition the propert is in really,
For us it made sense to do the central heating prior to renting and a re-decorate including kitchen (cupbord doors and handles etc). We will do the bathroom as time goes on and are about to replace the cooker and oven in the next month or so now we have tennants.
Most people look for modern GCH, double glazing and then how the place looks. If you get a modern boiler now with a 5 year garentee it should be one less thing to worry about during the renting of the property.
For a complany let the may also expect the elecgtric to be upto curent standards, be aware of this before going ahead with everything else and then being shot down at the last hurdle.
RustyMacFree Memberahwiles
I feel so insecure now!
Firstly my wooden headset press doesn’t have a name and secondly it is only 1.5ft long now as the other 0.5 is used as a support block for the opposite end of the headtube. 😳
RustyMacFree MemberRight now i have fugured that out again i shal try to do a better job of keeping up.
From white to black and blue to goldRustyMacFree MemberYou should also factor in the cost of new mounting hardware for your shock. These are the littel bits of metal that go through/between the shock eyelets and frame mounting points. These are specific to the Shock and frame combination you have.
Shock eyelets come in different sizes and then the frame spacing can differ from model to model.
You will need to ensure you get a shock that is both the same eye to eye length as the one fitted and the same stroke to both keep the travel the same and acoid the posibility of the wheel traveling too far and hitting the frame.
The last thing to concider is the tune of the shock (the amount of compression and rebound it has) this will determin how the shock performs in conjunction with the suspension design of your frame.
RustyMacFree MemberThe LNB is the bit on the end of the pole that points back at the dish, can you get a look at it out of a window or something?
most modern dishes come with quad LNB’s like this available through Amazon for £8.50
I would expect it is aking for a dual LNB as you will be expected to run a pair of cables back from the dish to the box. If this is the case it may be cheaper to buy a kit with the correct cable like this one from ebay
RustyMacFree Memberalpin yup
The one i’ve got is made by cervit but looks exactly the same.
[edit]On closer inspection it would appear they have changed the jaw locking mechanism for this year from a big twirly knob to a quick release style thing[/edit]
RustyMacFree MemberCav to come over the top of Sagan for the win is my prediction for the day.
RustyMacFree MemberThe rest of the stand is really good.
The base can go really wide which combined with it being quite heavy makes it very stable. The magnetic parts tray that came with mine has been handy, havent uses the bar for holding the handle bars strait much but it works so will probably come in handy at some point.RustyMacFree MemberI have bought a battery from Smudge (mtbbatteries) for my Lumicycle lights when it failed and had another reparied by him.
Excelent service both times, i’d highly recommend him.
That V2 light looks a cracker and if i was in the market for a light it would definately be high on my list of concideration.
Another option for you although slightly over budget could be this mytinysun light. A friend of a friend has one and highly rates it.
RustyMacFree MemberHaven’t read ther report, just that artile linked to on cycling news.
Seems strange that the four riders have admitted doping but are being allowed to continue with the season unaffected. Makes it look more and more like a witch hunt.
mikewsmith – Are we back here again?? As all other posts conclude it will either end up with Conviction & Denial & Appeal after Appeal
or abandoned again due to lack of credible evidence again againI think this ^^^^ hits the nail on the head.
RustyMacFree MemberFor those that are buying the work stand.
I have had mine about a year now and for £30 have found it great value for money. It does however have a flaw in that the plastic clamps on the painted metal move once you put a bike on it.
There are easy fixes for it though.
1 – Wrap a section of cloth backed sand paper round the metal tube sections prior to inserting it into the plastic housings (chuck section and top of stand section). I used 80 grit and it has worked a charm, was a bit of a faff to fit but it only needs to be done once.
2 – Drill a hole through the clamps and the tube and secure a bolt through it in the same two places as above. I would think something like an M8 bolt would probably be enough.
I figured drilling a hole would invalidate the warranty and had the sand paper lying about as I was and still am decorating my flat. The stand can now happily hold my full sus by the seat post without twisting.
RustyMacFree Membermikewsmith = nail on head
It will totally depend on your current bike set up, the wider bars will stretch you out a little on the bike. If you felt cramped with the old bars then this should help, however if you already felt stretched out you may now feel it even more and want to compensate by putting a shorter stem on.
Stem length in general i noticed a difference in steering between a 90mm and 70mm stem, it just felt a bit sharper so i guess you would notice some difference going from 70mm – 50mm but don’t let it compramise your comfort on the bike.
RustyMacFree MemberSound like you have had some great service from your LBS. Lights are something I personally don’t feel bad about shopping round for as my LBS doesn’t stock high end lights.
RustyMacFree MemberDo you mind me asking what your aversion to buying online is?
Unfortuneately the bike light market is a small one and the market for top quality lights even smaller so the buisness tend to be more online based. And alot of shop dont stock them as they are high value low profit items.
Lumicycle
Luminous
Troutie
mtbbatteries
Aye-up (i think)Are all pridominantly online based. You may be able to get other brands at your LBS, try asking what they could get you in on special order then go online to compare to see what suits your needs best.
With your battery you may be able to sell it with the charger – other DIY types my be interested in it.
RustyMacFree MemberDon’t you need more than just the voltage though?
Not to figure out the rough parts you need no, when it comes to specifics yes you will need to know the Ah rating of the battery as well, this is so that you can figure out the type of driver(control board)you will need to power your light.
Once you know how the control board works you will be able to calculate the run time of the light.
[edit] as JAG said this is reliant on you getting the bits from Troutie who will be able to advise exactly what is possible [/edit]
Just re-read your bit about not wanting to shop online this could be a problem for your light upgrade. Most of these parts will not be available at the likes of your local electrical shop. Troutie gets parts from all over the world for his lights, removing the shop online option it will make it almost impossible to get the stuff you need.
I have been racking my brains for lights you can buy from a shop and can only think of the exposure and hope lights both of which are pretty pricy.
If you decide to buy online and want an entire new light, Smudge from the forum has an online shop specialising in mountain bike batteries and lights. Below is a link to his shop
RustyMacFree MemberWhat is the current light housuing made of?
If alloy read on, if plastic you will not be able to upgrade.
To convert a light to a LED lamp there are 4 main new components you need
1 Reflector/Lense or difuser
2 Led package
3 Heat sink
4 Control boardThe others like the housing, power connector and switch (dependant on type this may need to be replaced as well) can be salvaged from your original lamp
Troutie may be able to provide you with parts 1,2,3 in a package (depending on your housing) and a PCB suitable for your battery. You would need to do the soldering of LED’s->PCB, PCB->Power, PCB->Switch.
