Never had a problem with the two Salus RT500 timers my girlfriend and i have, they have been in for 2 and 3 years so far with no issue.

Not sure what you mean by this “pain to reset to a low setpoint”?

I switched from BT to Sky and feel i get a better speed and service from them. Had a terrible time with BT. In Aberdeen both Sky and BT use BT Openreach to install the phone lines.

can you not re-jig the layout of your bathroom?

If you have ripped everything out it shouldn’t take much to move some pipes.

Just the things you have thought of already, ground anchor, solid secure gold locks, alarm, possibly a motion activated wireless camera depending on how close the shed is to your house and wifi signal.
When locking the bikes lock through the wheels as well, the less they can easily strip froma bike the better.

There is various sound advice and products on this site

I generally have a leatherman and a topeak hexus in my pack when out and about. Haven’t been bothered to look and see if there is anything combined, nither were particularly expensive and weight of two items rather than 1 is not a concern for me.

    Plans for cooling, waterproofing, mounting?

for £36 you can begin to buy proper parts to tinker with from the likes of here. Just need to find yourself a decent housing.

WCA could you use an aero roof bar rather than your bit of 2×4? It will at least have the tracks for mounting stuff too like your bit to rest you knee on and the support straps.

Don’t know how the other more serious camping/bivying types rate them but I find a silk liner invaluable. My girlfriend is always sleeps cold, on our last camping weekend it got pretty frosty over night but in her 3 season bag and a silk liner she slept like a baby.

I don’t know abuot a suggestion for london but does the pain occur in evey pair of shoues you wear? i used to get foot knee pain a few years back with certain types of shoes, as they were not supporting my foot properly.

When i was younger i saw a podiatrist for foor knee related issues. This site may help you find some qualified ones round your neck of the woods.

give a few a call and see what they say.

    hope this helps.

I have a fairly good idea the shop t_r is on about if not the person.

I would think that having the quick turn over stock that a christmas club would bring to a new buisness would be looked upon highly in the eyes of the new owners which would hopefully give some reassurance to your mate.

Fingers crossed it all works out for him and his kids.

    killwillforchips

Don’t know how you think these christmas club’s at local bike shops work but basically it not neciserilly a saving scheme for a bike (some may work this way but none that i have heard of). It is more of a way of reserving the exact bike you want for christmas.
For the ones i have used and helped out with they have worked as follows. The LBS takes a deposit on a bike then orders it in to ensure it is in stock and built up for the big day. For a LBS this is probably the only logically way to get in the large volume of stock required and ensure they can manage the extra work of building bikes for one specific date. The customer then pays the remaining balence on colection of the bike closer to christmas to avoid having to hide it for so long. The LBS i helped out at would do deliveries on the weekend before chrstmas with bikes on the christmas club list although this was a more difficult to organise as we would often get request to deliver in 3 or 4 different locations at the same time as wee Jimmy, John, James and Jack were playing in the local rugby match from say 12-1 so the present could be sneaked in then un-detected.

As you have already surmised that is a hollowtech II crank set and any f the externl hollowtech II BB’s should fit.

    RustyMac

I’m pretty certain that Hollowtech on the cranks you have is just in relation to the construction of the cranks. ISIS is the bottom bracket type.

Hollowtech II is the external cup type bottom bracket that rely on the cranks have an integrated axle.

Take a look at the cranks and see if the have a hollow axle or if the cranks are bolted in at both ends.

By all means chat on here, get it off your chest but try if you can to let your missus know too. See if you can chat things out with her, a problem shared an all that.

In the past I have found that building stuff up to a specific event counter productive, as you have found if it doesn’t happen you can feel worse. Do something small each day to try and put a smile on your face, go out to the park at lunch, buy a fancy piece from a bakery for elevenses, you will know what works for you.

Excersise works for me too, often find it difficult to get out and do something but feel load better once I have.

Hope your son gets over the tonsillitis soon.

Would doubt it would be worth while. You will most probably have to change trains at Waverley. In which case it a 5 minute second train and I normally just stand in the doorway unless I see a seat.

It really could be the bearings. Well that would be my second thought dependant on whether when I removed the wheel from the bike the free hub fell off or not. Basically if the axle is still intact then the bearings are a pretty good bet.

You can get dt rim strips for them, however they are nae cheap. Pretty sure the stans no tubes kit works too and is cheaper.

I am going to presume Smudge has been provided with the figures for the light from the manufacturer and at some point an error has been made in calculating out the run times and lumens.

Even with the figures trout is calculating it still seems a bloomin good light for the money.

Will try this again as it vanished into the ether last time

Becuase there are N different variations depending on N different trails/tyres/wheels/frames etc.

But this is exactly my point, some basic guidance on how to set up your shock to get the best out of it shouldn’t be too dificult.
The adjustments on the shocks don’t really differ much for the same type.

I completely understand that shocks are designed for mr average but i am not average but i should be able to get the same kind of feel by tuning the shock for me.

They should be able to provide pointers along the lines of

If you find the bike bobing like a pogo stick when you pedal try x, y, z
If you find the bike tries to buck you over the bars off a jump try 1, 2, 3.

These values will be inherintly different for each bike/rider/type of terrain but it shouldn’t be too hard to get the information accross in an easily understandable format that a novice or luddite like myself could understand.

What i got from that is that the suspension developers, shops and magazines do a piss poor job of showing us how to work their products.

If i want to know the basics of set up for my suspension i generally turn to one of the specialist tuning companys web sites rather than looking on the manufacturers site.

Sram have produced service videos for alot of their products, why not setup videos too?

For a basic stand, I like the look of this one.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160890119562?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D160890119562%26_rdc%3D1#ht_1124wt_1328

I was going to get it and use it in conjunction with the tools i made from Roger Muson’s book but then got a park TS2 second hand for a steal.

The other things i bought were
A Park tension meter, again look on ebay for second hand ones, they can be quite expensive new.
A DT Swiss Spoke driver (got this from Rose Bikes when I bought some spokes)
The M-Part Pro spoke key from CRC

I would suggest you are more likely to get a 15mm axle to work with your current hub then a 20mm but ask at your local Trek dealer or try the Trek section of mtbr as it is common for manufacturers to re-brand hubs from the likes of DT Swiss, if that is what has happened in this case you may be able to get adapters to fit.

If you go down the new wheel route, get onto ebay and search for other manufacturers oem wheels that come with the correct adapter this will be your cheapest option. If you go for another sealed bearing hub you should be fine.

For a regular pro 2 (Not the EVO)you will require new end caps and a new axle.

This should be the kit you need

    http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/176/hub223/hope-pro-2-rear-10mm-thru-conversion-kit.html

to swap the axle you will need a mallet and either the hope tools for setting the bearings or suitable sockets.
