The 50mm stem will make the steering more direct possibly describable as twitchy.

There really is only one way to find out what works for you and that is try a few. I have a selection of stems i have picked up cheap on the classifieds on here and ebay. I am a bit of a short ass so i have, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90mm stems to swap on till i am happy. Currently i have 70mm stems on both my FS and HT.

Don’t know about the serial number -> year of manufacture but if you check over on the mbtr forum under commencal HERE[/url] you may get a more informed answer.

Looks like it could be a bit od a bargin if you can get it for the price you think.

The sektor internal can also be upgraded to the rev rtc and dual flow to give better performance if needed at a later date.

From memory and not being an owner i think in 2010 Commencal changed the factory the frames were manufactured in and quality went up. Hopefully Hora will notice this thread soon as he just bought a meta 5 and he will have done his research recently so should know good from bad years.

[edit] looks like someone else above has also confirmed my thoughts [/edit]

Commencal 2009. Was that not one of the bad years?? Look for cracks, google commencal cracks and you will find out the usual suspect areas.

Ah right, not knowing the angles and stuff i didn’t know if it would work, i guess not.

Could you not find a half way house by adjusting the rear end a little and dropping the tyre pressures a bit ❓ 😉 ❓

Al could you not drop the BB by re-jigging the rear triangle ?

What I am thinking is at the point where you have added the sections to widen the rear triangle you could change the angle towards the rear hub very slightly to drop the BB height.

I think this would also slacken the seat tube and head tube which may not be advantageous but not knowing the angles it is impossible to comment.

    Stoner,

Having a think about your system would it not make more sense to run your PV panel through a solar charge controller to a battery and then onto your cooler.

Something like This and then on to a old car/van battery.

Is the 2″ higher BB due to the fat tyre or the alterations made?

Do you have further plans to re-re-jig the rear to lower the BB or is it ride it like you stole it time?

I am presuming the threads on the inner of the through axle have stripped leading to the drive side crank arm comming off?

Never heard of this before, with my Atlas cranks i tighten them up till i can tighten any more then have one last go to be extra sure they are as tight as tight can be. and then i put the reverse thread cap back on.

I would expect that unless you have been issued with a letter stating that you are affected by immanent redundancies as in next 3 months you they should be fine. From memory this was the case for one of my colleges at my last employer, another one got a mortgage and exchanged the Monday before the letters wen’t out on the Friday, he still has his house and a new better paying job.

Cheers for the carparts4less link, on a pair of lower wishbones and a battery i can save almost £50 for my car with them over eurocarparts. I know the battery is dying on my car as i have had to jump it twice now in the cold weather.

What happened to the sektors you were going to get?

Looks like a fairly sorted setup, you are a brave man with the ardent on the rear in the current soggy conditions, i found it way to unpredictable.

metallic grey? all peg boards should be blue!! I though that was the law.

euro car parts were alot cheaper than my local motor factors or Halfords, i could get a Bosch battery with a 5 year garentee for the same price as batteries with either 1 or 3 years. And there are further saving to be made using that carparts4less link above. That has taken a further £25 off the price of a 5year guarentee battery

The fitness certificate is nothing to worry about, if the doc has signed you off for 2 weeks you will probably have an appointment back with them at the end of that period. The doc will then either sign you off further if you are still unwell or sign you off as fit to resume work.

This will be required along with your initial doctors note generally for insurance purposes for the company.

Nothing to worry about at all, just get well soon and try and go back fresh and ready to work.

    Sorry molly,

Skype is a must have, we have family in other countries that all use it. Whilst there may be other better programs out there the hassle of getting everyone to swap out weights the benefits. Cheers for looking in on a boring IT thread though.

I had uninstalled messenger first however the start up items remained some how, i use Skype now and there was a heap of old versions in the start up so i got rid.

A clean install would involve buying a new XP disk. Everything i have is on restore disks from 19oatcake. I was kind of hoping to create new up to date restore disks once i had the computer working properly so i don’t have to mess about with a million and one updates and removing various free and unwanted programs.

Can you explain some more on this please “You can pull the Adobe ARM entry, and the Assistant if you don’t use Distiller to create PDFs.”

I really get the create PDF bit. I create documents in open office then print/save them as PDF for distribution, I will occasionally use adobe to put watermarks in the documents.

Sorry for the slow reply, lat night was some what sleepless.

Event viewer notes no errors in the last boot, there have been errors in the past but i guess these should now be rectified.

msconfig – I had been into the start up items in CCleaner and removed some old programs like the various versions of windows messenger, had not thought about printer drivers etc as i didn’t know if that would mess things up or not.

I can’t seem to get all the start up items in the small window that msconfig gives you or figure out to maximize/expand the window. I will try and upload a screen shot of the CCleaner page.

    Cheers Cougar,

Will try to find time on Monday to email you. Will be my first day back after paternity leave so it may slip till later in the week till I find my feet and get into a rhythm with work and home. I’m in no major hurry to get it looked at so if when I email it is inconvieniet I am happy to try again at a later date.

    Thanks again,

It can definitely wait till next week. In-fact that may be for the best, tiredness and frustration are not the greatest of mindsets to be in when trying to tidy up a computer. my email address is in my profile if you would like to get in contact with a time that is most convenient.

Currently i do not have a password set on it, it is just a case of clicking the icon to get in. I was just looking to remove the additional step. The operating system is XP Home.

Try giving them a breakdown of where the bike they are offering you is not equivalent to the one you are claiming against and see if they come back with a better offer.

I’m not so much randomly removing things just looking at the programs installed and getting rid of the tat that has accumulated over the years. i came across these and got wondering if these were also surplus to requirements.

What i am looking to do is speed up the operation of the laptop a little, spec wise it should be quicker than the net book but that is not the case. I while back i asked about windows 8 and mentioned that i had installed more memory in the laptop to help speed it up and it had made no difference. The comments i got back were there must be a deeper problem, which i am now trying to resolve by removing tat, ensuring all updates are done and looking at the start up files. Is this a good start?

I would like to be able to switch the laptop on and it go strait into the desktop without asking for me to select an account, is this possible with a number of accounts on the machine?

[edit] that reads a little short/angry it is not meant to, sorry. I am a little tired just now [/edit]

    Ok chojin,

Cheers for the reassurance there is nothing squiffy going on with the laptop. Just looked at the netbook again and the Administrator account is present on that one too, must have been more tired than i thought last night when i was looking at it, the joys of a new born i guess.

If you know what is the ASP.NET account please? my laptop is the only computer in the house with it on.

Duno if the new HiLo kit is comming with a better quality cable these days but the original one was crap. I found with mine a decent 1.1mm Teflon coated cable made a world of difference to the action of the remote lever.

10mm will fit normal dropouts. Standard QR dropouts are 10mm.

I am confused by you thinking this is non standard could they be 12mm?

    you have 2 options

    10mm bolt up

This has an axle that is threaded at the ends and you screw in 2 10mm bolts to secure the wheel.

    10mm axle

This has a hollow axle similar to a standard QR or 12mm maxle and you will need some kind of 10mm skewer to secure the wheel.

If they are coil hey will be heavier than an air fork but you can definitely improve the performance by installing a dual flow damper and RTC compression in place of the stock stuff in the sektor.

Magic, it is snowing again in Aberdeen. Perfect timing for grandma and auntie to be coming up from Edinburgh for the first time to visit their new grandchild/ niece.

£1.30 for a single! Blomin heck that is cheap, in Aberdeen a standard single is £2 or for the full length of an inner city route it can be £2.40. For a peak rate day ticket it £4.50.
