Full of Belgians (same thing?)
Boy, those Belgians love their bike racing. Can you imagine 60,000 or so people turning up to watch a CX race in the UK ?
Hope you like chips with mayonnaise on :-)

There’s a guy who does all the vintage shows with a Haleson, which gets up a fair bit of speed. Lovely looking bike and the rider has a proper vintage beard to boot

On behalf of the timekeepers and marshalls, can I say thank you to all the competitors for their enthusiam and good nature. It can’t have been pleasant having to wait in line in the cold to start the timed sections but everyone was cheerful and patient about it, and some of the banter was priceless !

Flash is not supported on iOS devices. See Steve Job’s tortuous justification of this.
You can get various 3rd party apps and browsers that will enable Flash, see Accessing Adobe Flash Content On The iPad.
Adobe have also updated Flash Media Server to send Flash content to iOS devices in Apple’s HLS format, but this won’t work for Flash based games, animations or adverts, only videos.

I’m marshalling on one of the timed sections. Not sure of all the route details, but I AFAIK there isn’t a 4th stage, just the 3. Mainly based on bits of the red and some other natural trails put together for the occasion. The idea is to provide a mix of climbing, gravity and XC on the 3 different sections (something for everybody to hate!).

Have fun peeps.

Our standard spec is a Dell with decent amount of RAM, plus docking station with external keyboard and one, or even two, good size external monitors.
I’d hate to spent any significant amount of time developing using a laptop screen and keyboard.

Pro Celebrity Boxing.

I think Peter Cook proposed that one many years ago.
How about Celebrity Workout – assorted footballers, TV personalities, models and politicians have to get a real job and live on the wages. For the rest of their lives.

I dont think harvesting actually makes very much money at all for the country

The figures I have for FC for 2010 are (in £ millions)

Expenditure :
Harvesting and haulage 41.2
Recreation, etc 56.0
Other 58.1

Income :
Timber 77.4
Recreation, etc 18.7
Other 23.0

So income from harvesting supports both management costs and expenditure on recreation.

Harvesting and thinning are also necessary for managing the forestry, particularly where spruce plantations are concerned.

Towards the end of the black there’s a descent shared with the blue.

Doing it from the red it’s on the second section of the black.
As you descend the blue look out for some orange barrier netting on the descent – the black turns off to the left at this point.

All trails are fully open.
The link from the red to the black is about 9/10ths of the way round the red before the final descent. You come up a fire road and the red goes straight on a single track. Bend right and follow the fire road for about a mile, then turn right up a hill and you’ll come to the black on the right going up into the trees.
Follow the black around and you’ll eventually come back to almost exactly where you left the red.

I used to scrutineer at Eastway Crazy Legs, and I probably know the gorilla in question – a guy named Kev from the Whitewebbs whose brother was London power lifting champion. He was a bit over zealous.

Mind you, we caught some simply shocking bikes as well – brake blocks running on the sidewalls, brand new tubulars on brand new rims with no sign of glue, handlebar stems without exapander bolts in – so we might have saved a few bits of skin in the process.

Wasn’t there a picture of him recently on a bike with a ginormous dinner-plate chain-ring and teeny sprocket. Wasn’t that for another record attempt? What happened to that?

This one ? It was intended for the world hour record

“Obree spent a year and a half training on the bike which worked brilliantly on the road.

But when Obree took to Manchester’s velodrome for a trial run in August it went badly wrong. Watched by former national British cycling coach Doug Daley, Obree’s bike proved useless”

To be realistic the game should include :
– A Powerpoint presentation showing how completing the game will increase company revenue by over 600%
– An incomprehensible and contradictory 300 page requirements statement
– An architectural diagram showing the major components of the game and how they interact
– A Gantt chart showing that the game won’t be completed until August 2015
