Wouldn’t have a problem using mine all winter if it was all i had. Finding a frame with a long enough top tube to meet my set up needs (short legs, long arms) was a bit tricky as they tend to come up short.
With a longer inverted stem i reckon i could have an identical set up to my road bikes and with a set of 25s or 28s have a reasonably comfy workable bike.

Might want to put my front mech and double rings back on though i suppose.

Saddle angle is ok now, seat tube angle is a bit slacker on this than my geared bike and i hadn’t re-adjusted it yet.

Gearing is 42×16 which is fairly easy on flat stuff, ok into a headwind and a bit of a grind on steep stuff. Did Bournemouth to Brighton on it in a weekend in May, 140 miles including South Downs and it was really comfy and only leg breaking a couple of times.

Wouldn’t see many gnomes in my garden either if i was buying them.

Up to date pictures of my winter hack/trainer bike. Use it on most solo rides when i don’t have to keep up with anyone. Run it SS not fixed as my knees are shagged enough as it is.
Stock Langster but with longer stem, different post and saddle, and mavic open sport rims built onto the stock hubs.
Also some lairy rubino pros which i put on for a bit of a laugh as they matched Asthma UKs colours for a charity ride, but have impressed enough to keep them on.
Seat nose a bit high in this photo, as i’d just swappped the post/seat over from my other bike and hadn’t got round to setting it up yet.

Alu for me. £300 ebay and a few selective second hand upgrades.
Just the job for a mix of racing and 3-4 hour on/off/singletrack rides. 🙂
put some CX50 brakes on it last week, good improvement on the cheapies shown here.

Bit low rent for this thread, but if you fancy getting a bit of Ti in your life, this frame is for sale as of today.
Cooper size M/L with none too common shamrock dropouts.
Lovely bit of kit but i need the money to help pay for a kitchen and have downgraded to a 2nd hand Condor. 🙁

‘ampshire!! with a bit of mockney twang from spending too many years working and socializing up that direction. So not Laandon and not full wurzel but somewhere inbetween (with lots of swearing).

Yeah, sorry for only fancying a £1400 Ritte : (
Maybe i haven’t got expensive enough tastes?

unfortunately i haven’t got the money, so i’m selling the Lynskey to help pay for a new kitchen and am replacing it for a second hand Condor squadra. Photos by the weekend.

Group rides the one with gears, on my own the ss. Wash them if its muddy/wet.
The Langster now has open sports not the hideous stock wheels.
The Lynskey frame is now for sale as i need the money for my new kitchen (replacing with 2nd hand alu/carbon frame next week) 🙁

Sportful no rain arm, knee and leg warmers are supposed to be very good and as name suggests, a bit water resistant too.

Got castelli and descente and use them loads when its not cold enough for 3/4s but a bit nippy for just bibshorts, both good.

Bought it a few times, but not to my taste.
I dont really ride MTB these days, don’t want a new mountain bike as i’m happy with mine and there’s more than enough information on the internet without spending another £5 a month.

    Sorry.

NO MUD!! Loved the course at Didcot today.
Lots of of camber chalk made it techy which made up a bit for my lack of fitness. Nice to catch up with a few of the quick lads that were lapping me on the twisty bits.

Reading was a lot muddier than these photos suggest. Really tough conditions and could have done with a few more gears at times. Mulletus Maximus of this forum is in the Andover Wheelers kit in 3rd photo and did significantly better than i did 🙁
Didcot tomorrow, imagine it’s going to be cold, rainy and muddy.

Yeah, great idea…..unless you’re the poor unfortunate in charge of a bunch of lairy 16 yr olds let out into the wild world! 😕

Experience has shown that the initial enthusiasm the lads have for these projects quickly wears away leaving the teaching staff to put right the cock ups and finish the job themselves in their own time.

You might be able to get a decent cheapish job done by a couple of 2nd/3rd year apprentices looking for some extra money and experience.

Yep, sand and lime. All walls taken down by students after marking and muck put back through our pan mixer. Cement would make it a VERY expensive operation!
Busy today, we had nearly 50 16-27 yr old lads in the workshop today between 2 of us.

If a couple of 17 yr olds can manage to work it out, your experienced fella should have too. : )

Those Flanders frames are really nice, not sure how pricey they are though. Otherwise, Cannondale, Ridley, Scott, Spesh, Trek, Stevens, Blue, Focus all produce good carbon race frames.

Once i’ve finished re doing my kitchen, a bigger brick garage/bike shed/man cave is the next project (as asked for by Mrs Trowel!)

When i get around to it i’ll do a photo diary or something to post on here for a laugh.

Pace wise, if i was doing it on my own, then if you had loaded out the blocks that’s not even a days work, even mixing for myself.

Which is saying something, as i spent all day standing around telling other people how to do it now rather than getting my hands dirty myself 🙂

SS road bikes are great. I got a Langster last year for under £300 on ebay to save my Lynskeys gears from the weather and roads and sort of prefer it to my posh bike now.
Well up to 60-70 mile days as long as the knees are up to it.
