Still don't get it. Finally understand how Facebook works and quite enjoy it for keeping in touch/gossiping with friends i rarely see.

How does twitter actually work? Is it like a mini facebook, or is it based on your mobile? How often do you post something? does it arrive via text or email. As said, i still don't get it.

    Sorry for being a numpty.

How does a big old unit like Karpets get up mountains that quick? p.s. bring back the mullet Vladimir (not a patch on Laurent Brouchards though).

    Another vote for Poole/Bournemouth area.

Good enough riding (Purbecks etc), loads of people to ride with (40 / 50 on mid week evenings) if that takes your fancy, cream teas a plenty.

Southampton 30mins, Portsmouth 45mins, London hour and a half (train 2 hours), nice weather, beaches, AFC Bournemouth, ice creams, ferries to France, airport, excellent bike shops.

Good schools, not 'that' expensive for housing (sandbanks excluding) and it's still in the south, so no interpretor needed.

16" here, 5'10", 32" ish leg. Plenty long enough for me with 65mm stem. 18" would be too big i think.

Definetely says tubeless, not tubeless ready on side wall. There were plenty of different models stating tubeless ready which is why i went with this exact model so that juice was not needed. Looks like a visit to lbs at dinner time for some sealant then.

Tubeless. Not tubeless specific. Revolt super x

Fitted by lbs who reckoned they use them and dont need sealant, hmmm.

Our term ended for the summer on 6th June, i’ve ONLY got another 5 weeks off this summer. That Cornish beach was nice last week.

Gotta love Evans dropping his team on the run in. Time to change teams if you ever want to win it i think.

Millar said he’d not felt that knackered for ages. If he had he might have won a bit more often.

Those new spesh TT bikes are mighty ugly.

None hopefully, but thats just because i’d like someone else to win it.

Contador will probably win overall, but it would be nice to see him work for it from a long way back, and i’d be quite happy for Levi, Kloden and Lance to be out of the top ten all race, although the internal politics will be funnier if they’re up there.

How much time could the ‘big’ teams put into the lesser ones in 39km tomorrow?

Colombia, Garmin, Astana, Saxo Bank, Liquigas, Cervelo maybe not in that order though.

I reckon Menchov and Evans could lose a bit tomorrow.

Any chance of making this a rolling thread for the whole 3 weeks? My missus is showing a bit more interest this year, but some ‘informed’ opinions and observations (plus some silly ones) never go a miss.

Todays stage was a blinder, better than 2 weeks of poxy tennis. Fair play to the skil shimano lads for getting that many guys up there, plenty of windy days in holland i guess so they should be good when it blows.

Cav should be pretty safe from the French snipers. He was first to sign up to that voluntary salary forfeit thing if they get caught. You’d look a bit silly being juiced up after that. Plus he’s part of the British cycling/olympic programme and they must know the system inside out. Colombia highroad boast about how great their internal systems are too.

I think he’s just bloomin’ quick.

Looked like the Euskatel bloke lost it and Boonen and a load of others had to go straight on. After the crash it was all over, as Cav had two teammates and only Farrar on his wheel. Still, you make your luck and thats why he was positioned at the front, to avoid that sort of thing.

He should win a load more, as it looks like no ones got his pace. Ciolek and Farrar went backwards and i don’t think Freire or Boonen have the legs anymore.

Best 3 weeks of the year. Do you reckon he’ll get the press that Scottish bloke who lost the tennis did? No, thought not.

    £330 brew bmx race frame
    pikes £450 ish
    £250 on second hand crossmax’s
£120 on e13 drs took some understanding at work
180mm profile cranks for bmx £140 ish
Lupine lights £250 (no one ‘gets’ this one)

Just realised my light cost £100 more than my frame.

Neither, they weren’t that good back then. Things have moved on dramatically in the years since then. Real changes and improvements, not just cosmetic stuff.

What budget, and what for? Ramps? street? nibbling about on race tracks? Brakes? brakeless? freecoaster?

At 5’8″ and presuming you’re not gonna do flatland or silly tech stuff, then look for 21″ ish toptube. 1/4 inch makes lots of difference on bmx. I’m running 21.25 on my race bike.

    In a skip
In a bucket in the back of a van on a customers drive (more than once), apparently builders don’t need the use of a toilet. That why the back of your shed smells of wee.

Bloke at work says he’s done a pooh in his wetsuit (yuk), and my mate had the runs on the floor in a stair well (concrete not carpeted) of an office block in Sydney a few years back, while i stood guard (food poisoning i think, no warning).

Got a cro-mega DX in original spec (1989?) including original ritchey tyres etc, only parts changed are saddle and onza bar ends and porcipaws grips in my mums garage. Bit dusty, but in pretty good nick.

    Would consider letting it go.

Sounds good to me. Reckon i’m probably in if i don’t have another tubeless disaster like this week. Is this anywhere near where the cheddar bmx nationals are held?

Purbeck plans went out the window too, with tubeless debut disaster. This was supposed to be the end of tyre problems, not a whole new world of issues. Had to have a quick spin on the road bike instead.

I’m bailing out of this one i’m afraid. Weather looks a bit iffy, and i can’t be arsed to drive 90 odd miles to get wet. Think i’ll dive over the Purbecks instead and save myself the diesel money.

Will no doubt see most of you later on in the summer somewhere. North Hampshire ride currently being arranged, will post route and dates soon.

    Cheers Rusty.

Lecturing in FE after 20 years on a building site. ‘Different’ doesn’t even come close to describing the change. Internal politics, unrealistic targets and working with/for people that have never worked in the real world, BUT there is satisfaction from seeing lads leave after a couple of years with a trade. Holidays are good too.

Just got back from a gentle warm up. About 50 of us out on the Purbecks tonight, ferry was packed. Bimbled along in the slow group (22-23 strong!) as i haven’t been out for a month. Fell in a bush, whatever.

I’m in unless it’s absolutely p***ing down. Is town and all its joys walking distance from the meeting place? The missus can’t drive the van and wouldn’t want to drag a 2 year old on a hour long hike. If not i could try to squeeze us all in the avensis of doom.

best – mk1 XR2 (fun, fun, fun), but not as much fun as my old TDR 250 i had at the same time, oh to be 19 again.

worst – Rover 400 (reliable but DULL), Holden kingswood (breakdown on wheels, but cheaper than staying in a hostel).

Pretty good chance i’ll be there. Meeting place and time?

Is there anything fun for a wife and 2 year old to do down there?

Bright in Poole at the moment. Bit of ‘flash and bang’ as my little girl called it last night and 10 minute storm an hour ago.

Ignore all weather forecasts for here, they’re rarely right for the next day, let along next week.

Purbecks hold up pretty well to weather. When you coming down, mid week evenings and weekends there’s usually people about to tag along with.

Cinnamon girl seems to know every trail and track in the south, and seems to have a route for everywhere, so she could be worth contacting.

Good stuff available for about 300 quid second hand. Modern stuff is much lighter than a few years back. Much cheaper than mtb’s, top draw stuff new would leave change out a grand comfortably (unless you go silly). £400 – £500 new will be really good kit.

ps don’t forget £50 quid for a pair of womens jeans to wear whilst riding it (us bmx’ers are suckers for fashion)

Metallica – yep upto ‘and justice’ nope after

middle only here, converted about a year ago, feel more under control with index and thumb gripping bars. Still getting used to rear on left again after years of bmx and rear on right.
