It was going well at the start of the week, but i've been off ill today and had the nibbles – oops.

I would imagine the main experience will be of a little girl screaming while a nurse whacks a needle in her arm.

We aren't paid directly with public money, we're a business that is funded on outcomes in FE. We used to get subbed out to the council to do snow clearing in the 80s when i was an apprentice, great crack that was 🙂

As someone said earlier, we don't make the decision. We are all still here, but all of our students are leaving of their own free will (FE college). We couldn't go even if we wanted to.

We're still here, we don't get a say in it. When the Principal says it's shut, it's shut.

49 days plus weekends off here. Less said about the job the better though! Pay scale any where from 20k to 32k depending on qualifications, experience and how desperately they need you.

The type of student you have will make a massive difference to the job. The difference betwen very rewarding and not wanting to do it anymore, that big a difference.

I think we're the only educational place open in the area today (FE college). Mind you, how many of the students bother to turn up is another matter. No snow at all, but they won't need much excuse.

No snow in Poole. Some due today apparently. -7 this morning though, brakes seized on the van, so an unscheduled bike commute. BBRRRR!!!

Cannot see a time or reason when or why i will drink alcohol again. No great reason why, but it's never been important, and the last few years it has just seemed to be more irrelevent to me.

Used to like a few in my younger years though, so not a stranger to driving the porcelain bus 😕

On my own then by the look of it. 😥

Agreed it's not really about weight. 7 years ago before i hurt myself and had to change careers, i could carry 13 stone comfortably as i worked 9 hours a day as a brickie, went to the gym 5 times a week, danced loads, played football and rode bmx most days (and i was only 33!)

Now, i don't do physical work, can't do weights, have no time for the gym, don't ride bmx or dance and am nearly 40. The loss of upper body muscle means i can probably only carry off 11 1/2 stone, hence the need for losing weight. Turbo trainer coming out tonight if i'm not decorating again.

The wildlife in Swinley is getting stranger all the time. What is that tree bound creature?

My commute is about that length if i can get out of nursery run duties. Could be significantly longer on the way home as there's some decent riding near work :D. Not sure the missus would be that impressed though with a 3 yr old and a new born . She'll never believe i'm working late.

@mike, i don't have that problem, break times is an excuse to get away from the little (and big) sods so i'm not going in the canteen with them. 👿

Most of the last decade has been marred by crippling OCD.
Still managed to get married twice 8O, divorced once, have a lovely little girl and a little'un imminent. Destroyed my wrist, forced to give up career, started a new one, got promoted a couple of times, bought 3 houses, gave up bmx (sort of) and surfing, re-started mountain biking, had a couple of courses of therapy, had a load more tattoos done, gave up drinking, stopped going to see bands (again sort of), and lost my dad.

All in my 30s, roll on the 40s – a little less stressful would be nice (2 liitle rustys, it ain't gonna be is it?) 😕

I'm better during term time, as i only eat what i take to work. It's holiday times and weekends i end up eating crap. Fortunately/unfortunately i now get 49 days off a year plus weekends, so that's a third of the year. Discipline required me thinks!

Don't drink alcohol at all so can't blame that. Need to throw away the big plates and get out on the bike.

    Average (non xmas) day is

3 weetabix or 2 toast and jam plus cuppa for breakfast

10.30 apple, banana, satsuma, water, crisps

1.00 mackerel salad, banana, apple, water

    5.00 cuppa and biscuit

7.00 something like spag bol or salmon and roast veg or breaded fish and mash and beans or chicken and veg and a diet coke

then a couple of more cuppas before bed

Doesn't seem that bad, so must be lack of exercise (only ride once or twice a week) and do sod all physical at work. Commuting on bike is possible, but gets side tracked by getting 3 year old up and dressed and delivered on time.

I'm not that bad, but have had some 'moments'. Namely rolling my sisters mini (old style) in the snow while my XR2 was having a new engine fitted. Then writing off the XR2 a few weeks later after nodding off at the wheel and taking out a few concrete posts and the front drivers side of the car.

That was 20 years ago though, so i can attempt to blame youthful exhuberance. 🙂

Big lumps of meat in a vegetarian household – freaks. I'm on the bring-yer-own meat deal with the in-laws.

First one without Dad here too. Mum seemed to cope ok. We were at the wifes parents for dinner and evening and the mother-in-law didn't wind me up as much as usual.

Everyone's cleared off to London now so i'm in alone – lovely. Making the most of a quiet day before Rusty jr 2 arrives in a few weeks.

Nearly fell ar*e over tip on the pavement just now, so sod the riding! Everyone's gone to London to see the relatives, so i reckon i'll be on the sofa all day for a bit of peace and quiet and watch the footie scores.

New pair of woolie boolies, breo watch thing, Flip video camera (not bike specific, but that's what i'll use it for), Jacques Anquetil book, bottle of muc-off and some udderly smooth b*m cream.
Oh, and a new bike last month! Not bad. 🙂
