See you in the morning Dr.

mmb – I used to ride a light blue 456 and am a beardy tattoed oik. If you've got a midlands? accent, then yes i know you.

If the DRR lot go out on Wednesdays as well as the ride lot, then there are far too many riders around here.

When you're learning to drop into ramps, don't change your mind half way through.

And wear unfeasably tight jeans and a t-shirt that isn't big enough.

Buy some ibuprofen, and expect to be hobbling around work Monday.

Free on Sunday Dr. Need to do something as i've stupidly entered myself in a 10k run in the summer having not run for years. Give me a call Saturday and we'll see what the weathers looking like.

I lurked for a fair old time before dipping a toe in. Don't start many threads, but chip in if i've got something helpful, amusing or stupid to say.

On a negative note, it's lashing down today so despite popular belief it's not sunny EVERY day.

On a positive note, Corfe castle tea rooms. 😀

Mail me when you've moved down if you want, and i'm sure Dr P will join us for a ride or a cuppa. (Once our wifes have sorted out their childbirth commitments!) 😛

Blandford DH thing is UK bike park near Shillingstone. As said, Purbecks is on doorstep and you've also got Wareham forest, Puddletown, New Forest and Canford Heath.

Big healthy scene down here too, lots of group rides – 50+ riders on summer nights! 15-20 riders winter night rides, plus weekend stuff.

Also spoiled for choice for bike shops. Ride cycleworks, Bikelab and Primera all stock top kit, and all 5 minutes drive from me :-).

We also were about the only place not to get snow this year so that should make a change to Wales.

I saw Rollins this week too and he talked about it a fair bit. When's it on?

Loads of non chalky bits, but it's generally a bit of a mess at the moment. The fire roads are ok obviously, but even the ridge at nine barrow was muddy/sticky the other week. The golf course bits are rideable, but messy, and Franks tank has some bits cordoned off for repair. When are you likely to be going out? i was going to go out on the roadbike, but might be able to bring the mtb out of hibernation.

Cycling proficiency passed in '78ish – broken body suggests i maybe should have failed. 🙁

    Coca cola soccer skills badges.

A bundle of o'levels and a couple of cse's in the rubbish subjects i couldn't be arsed with (well that's what i told my mum).

C&G advanced craft, NVQ3 and a load of teaching quals.

Learnt more in 20 years on a building site than that lot put together. A year on site should be compulsory (to learn to sing, fart and whistle if for no other reason).

Couple of hours on the road bike yesterday. Rode to work the other week because the van hand brake was frozen on. Does new years eve count?

Can't blame the snow, we didn't have any in this little part of England.

4lb in 2 weeks, i'll settle for that. No exercise done either, so could be worse. All this fruit doesn't half make you fart though.

Two weeks is more than enough, you'll be glad to get back to work for a rest. 🙂 p.s. my second is due in 3 weeks…yikes!

When i have trouble breaking them up at work, i find a length of 2×1 batten does the job, …oh, we're talking about kids.

Not at 3 in the morning there isn't 🙂 We ended up watching loads of the last away ashes series with our first, it was the only thing on allnight.

sky+ in the bedroom for when you and/or the missus are up half the night feeding/trying to get the baby to sleep. 3am tv is crap, and you'll of missed all the decent stuff that was on earlier.

It can be done, but numbers make all the difference, well that and reigning the wife in. We had ours at a beachside restaurant i a VERY expensive part of country and came in under 3 grand including free booze all day and food.

The venue was reasonably cheap, but we saved by only having about 30 guests to the day bit/food and having a 'posh' bbq put on by the restaurant. No photographer (what a rip off they are), wifes friend made cakes for nothing, i-pod hooked up to stereo for music, my vintage suit from ebay, her dress from highstreet (not wedding dress), no flowers. My old boy paid for the booze all day for everyone, which is pretty much all anyone can remember from the day and went down a treat.

Only extravagances were her hair, '56 Buick to get us there, and £3 for the sandbanks ferry to get us to the reception.

If for no other reason, it's worth getting one so that you can wear your girlfriends jeans and buy t shirts that dont fit. Oh, and wear your trainers out trying to slow yourself down because you're too cool to have brakes on your bike.

Mine will be surfacing from its hibernation shortly, just in time for my 40th. 🙂

Having tried most things, i would say hypnotherapy was all very well but not a patch on professional psychological therapy and/or medication. Although none of these may be necessary for some mild claustrophobia.

C_G – not enough to worry about. Roads are clear, paths a little icy, gardens a little white (inch perhaps wednesday).

Not enough to worry about in Poole either. Wednesday morning we had a bit for a couple of hours, but roads are all clear, pavements a bit icy and gardens a little white where the sun hasn't reached. Cold though (considering we usually only get a handful of frosts a year).

Do i win a fashionably unfashionable prize for having just sold my 456 to buy a stupidly stiff aluminium race frame despite being a lardy who has no intention of racing it?

BMC elite, rebas, xt, crossmax's, carbon bits. 6lb lighter than the 456 it replaced. Wont be as easy going downhill, but 80% ish of my riding seems to be uphill anyway. If it breaks me in half, i can flog the frame, buy an inbred and still make a profit. – Worth a go for a few months i think.

Same size as you, 16" definetely. Just got rid of mine for something sportier. My new 18" BMC has the same tt length as the 16" 456, just with less standover.

Just had ours delivered by tescos, and the only thing wrong with the order was the vegi sausages having a short shelf life. So i take it no shortages in Dorset.
