Did 30 miles on road on Friday, 25 on mtb yesterday, road sportive this weekend coming. Haven't ridden much this year though as new baby has kept me busy.

Take you best part of half an hour in a car from Mudeford to Sandbanks at a weekend, bit of a crap drive traffic wise.

@ lexie – either will do the job. Locals ride anything from rigid singlespeeds (lovell plus others) to 5 inch full bouncers. In my opinion, a hardtail or short travel susser would be most suited – but feel free to bring a penny farthing or DH bike if you want, to give us a chuckle.

Castelli Belgian booties from wiggle. Socks really, but they keep you feet warm if your shoes are a bit too vented, and your shoes clean.

Busy this week?

I've got some Ritchey WCS risers on my new hardtail and they seem ok so far. Haven't crashed them yet, so not sure about durability. They don't seem to flex too much when i'm honking on them, and i'm fairly hefty. Finish looks lovely too.

1 coz it's the dream bling bike, the other coz it's just functionally spot on after loads of 'almost right' bmx's.

BMC 4stroke, Titus look lovely in the flesh, test rode an orange 5 pro with all the upgrades which was great.

If you're a bike snob/enthusiast like most, it's the ideal chance to get something unique and special built. If not, then you're spoilt for choice with off the peg completes.

I got my Lynskey just coz i wanted one. It's not going to turn me into a superstar, and in reality, at my level of riding/fitness probably wont be that much better than what i had before. But you're only 40 once so i bought something lovely that makes me smile when i open the shed and looks and feels the nuts when i'm riding it.

Waste of money? Probably. Worth it? yep, and i can always sell it if i'm skint.
