Cobbled stage might be a damp squib.

Not enough classics guys will go on the attack to really rip it apart. Cancellara can't go full bore or he will drop the Shlecks, no Boonen although the other Quickstep boys might give it a dig, no Gilbert, Ballan and Burghardt will have to wait for Cadel.

Columbia and Garmin will probably get stuck in as Wiggins and Rogers should be ok and Farrar and Cav should be able to get to the finish with the leaders. Not sure about Radioshack, Lance could make some time on the other GC guys if his team are strong enough. He might just latch onto Cloumbua like he did in the wind last year.

    Can't wait!

    Presentation was yesterday.

Some obscure Spanish/Italian/Eastern European domestique to fall foul of biological passport related targeted testing, probably in the second week.
    But hopefully not.

2.5 TDi T4 here, plenty quick enough, 90,000 miles and going strong (touch wood).

Could do with Contador lobbing it up the road on the cobbled stage and loosing a couple of minutes to make it a bit tighter this year.

My sister's in Shrivenham which seems pretty nice. Couple of miles east of Swindon (in Oxfordshire i think), seems to be a bit of countryside around it. She doesn't go into Swindon at all from what i can gather, but her hubby works there.

Jurgen? Was Beckhams manager in LA for a while wasn't he? and lived there when he was managing Germany if i recall correctly.

Edit – the germany bits true, but the LA manager may have been Gullit.

I could play golf about 2 years after doing mine. At least my swings not too wristy 😕

Done mine 8 years ago. Dislocated 90 degrees inwards, open fracture so operated straight away (and a couple of more times later in the week!), broke end off ulner, shattered radius.

Had a bone graft from my hip and an external fixator titanium cradle thing on for 2 months. Career ending/changing (hence the trowel being rusty). Couple of years off the bike as not strong enough or enough movement or confidence.

Still very limited movement now as the bones don't rotate anymore.
Doesn't really hurt that much, but very wary of putting too much weight through it or landing on it (wear a pretty meaty brace when riding). It's a bit numb most mornings until it gets warmed up and moving.

Hope it's not this bad 🙂

Rubber Buccaneer – I'm in Poole, as is DrP. Loads of group rides going on around here. Big steady one every Wednesday, fast one every Tuesday (too fast for me). Stick your nose in to see Rich at Ride bike shop in Ashley Cross, or roll up at the ferry at 6ish. Saturdays and Sundays usually get a bit of a crowd too (10ish ferry). Road chains as well if that floats your boat.

I think Primera do something to, as do the DRR. For a smaller scale thing, Me and DrP do shortish evening rides every couple of weeks after the kids bedtimes.

If you're doing 50 miles, you'll be nearly here anyway 🙂

Don't think i can do this weekend, but as said get to the ferry for 10 on Sunday there should be a few about. If you want to meet loads of people to ride with (40+!) then Wednesday night 6.20pm ferry the Ride Cycleworks lot go out. 2 groups, not too fast in slower group, plenty of chat/ banter.

E mail me if you want to do a week night or something, me and DrP go out a bit locally (when he's back from the Alps).

MK is a good few hours north of here. Anywhere north of Newbury is north to me. 😕

To be fair i'd live anywhere and i'm sure the riding would be good enough. If it's not all that there's always the bmx or roadbike.

Has there ever been a north/south forum weekend ride thing (a kind of cultural exchange). I'm sure we could rustle up a van or two of southern softies.

Swinley's up north as far as i'm concerned! Much further South and i'd be in France. Plenty of hills and roots and rocks and sand and chalk and…. here, and it's sunny.

Nothing against the North, but can't be bothered to drive hundreds of miles to get there when there's plenty here.

Plenty being ridden by Purbecks locals, who seem to love them. Having a good trek dealer handy does help mind.
