For mountain biking access, Poole is better than B’mouth.

Short ride to the Sandbanks ferry for Purbecks rides and Canford Heath for fun 1-2 hour blasts.
Also BIG group rides happening all year round, with either the Rough Riders or with Ritchie and the Ride Cycleworks boys.
For roadie alternatives there are the 3 local clubs all running group rides as well as Primera doing theirs.
New Forest still in reach within 20-30 minutes for road rides depending on which part of Poole you’re in.
Desirable areas would be Lower Parkstone, Broadstone, Corfe Mullen (bit far out) and Sandbanks if you are a millionaire :-)
Most of Oakdale is fairly nice and some of the Canford Heath estate is quite nice, as is Bearwood. Westbourne is nice if you want a Bournemouth postcode.
Charminster/Winton are more ‘busy’ and more like normal towns with lots of students and a more diverse population and vibe. Boscombe has some ok bits but is too far from trails too put up with the grotty parts of it (the High St on an evening is grim).

That S&M does look great though. I sold my Next Gen Holmes last year and it was spot on apart from the weight.
The 24″ cruisers i’ve ridden have always felt a little odd although i suppose a couple of laps is hardly enough to get used to it.

Nothing wrong with old boys riding 20″ wheels :-)

43 years young and still occasionally get the bmx out the shed for a mince about at the track or park.
5’10” on a 21.25 TT 4130 cromo race frame. Strong enough for trails and street too, but dropouts probably would survive pegs being used.

Mid school stuff like this doesn’t go for as much as the early/mid 80s stuff but there is still a market if it’s mint.

Some of the prices rare early stuff goes for is scary. £700 for some VDC handlebars!!

Not quite London, but Jon Nott and his fellow workers at Bespoke Tattoo in Guildford knock out some fine work.

25mm Vittoria Rubino Pros can be picked up for 20 quid each if you shop about. The 23s i’ve had on my winter bike have been as good as the Gatorskins on my other bike

Been using some Adidas Kanadia 4 for a couple of years for 100% off road runs. Loads of grip and also been good enough for a few 5 and 10 road/off road races.
For 50/50 road/off road training runs i usually just wear one of my more road based shoes like Asics Gel Nimbus or Puma Itana2 as they are fine for grip in the dry.

Never really got a chance to lead in the Ardennes classics that would have suited him best. Maybe a week long stage race with shorter climbs would suit….like the Tour of Britain :?
Can’t see Sky giving him a leaders role ANYWHERE so maybe a case of wrong rider on wrong team :(

Had the pleasure of riding with world renowned expert Professor Paul Salkovskis and OCD-UK head honcho Ashley last month on a leg of their @Ride4OCD LEJOG trip.

I know a couple of my good friends have commented on this thread and I thank them for that.
I’m going to refrain from joining in as I know things can sometimes be misinterpreted on here.
For those interested in the realities of living with crappy diagnosed OCD here is a link to my blog posts on the subject.

Illness and injury. Hasn’t got on with heavy training load and mountain domestique duties so team/rider are re-evaluating training schedule for next year.
2 year deal so ‘safe’ for another year the I guess Sky will off load him if things don’t click :(

Mulletus Maximus off here has one and it’s been good enough to drag him to a couple of wins this season. They may just have been his legs and lungs though :D

Don’t know them well enough to crash in there rooms, they work and are riding for a charity I do some stuff for.

Haha, don’t joke about re-checking the van is locked, the charity is OCD-UK and me and the head of the charity who is riding are both sufferers! Luckily one of the other riders is a Professor of Psychology and one of the world leading experts in the field so we should be in safe hands :?

Yeah, it’s pretty tame there, nothing you couldn’t ride on a rigid singlespeed without much difficulty. I did wonder what the full face was for, but each his own and if that’s what makes you feel safe carry on :-)

Always lots of Treks and Oranges in the Purbecks thanks to Ride Cycleworks locality and the effort Rich and the boys put in organising group rides.
Plenty of Spesh and Cannondale too with Primera being local.

I go past the Dorset Rough Rider guys meet up on my way to running training Wednesdays and there seems to be a fair bit of SS and niche stuff being ridden by some of those lot these days.

I’ve got Chorus 11 spd on my main road bike and Centaur/Veloce 1×10 on the CX bike.
Nothing against Sram or shimano, but campag have always just ‘done it’ for me. Rattling down through the gears with one thumb push on the higher end stuff is great, especially from the drops.

The newer shaped hoods are a vast improvement over the old ones that were a bit too small for my hands.

Cheap 2nd hand Condor Squadra frame and forks bought to replace my Lynskey ‘dream bike’.
Campag chorus 11 speed groupset, 3T bars, Spesh carbon/zertz seatpost, Deda stem, Open Pro/105 front wheel, Kysirium SL rear here but now an Open Pro/Hope rear, Gatorskins.
Not super bling or expensive, but a solid workhorse that makes me smile.

Specialized Langster SS winter bike. Deda bars and stem, Tifosi carbon post, spesh saddle, Open Sport rims built onto the original spesh hubs, Rubino pros, Profile BMX chain tensioners, Topeak DeFender RC11 mudguards.
Bought as standard complete bike 2nd hand for couple of hundred quid. New wheels transformed it into my go-to bike for solo rides and winter miles.

My cheap 2nd hand alu/carbon Condor Squadra is more comfy to ride and feels faster than the £1k Ti Lynskey frame it replaced.
Material choice is overrated in my opinion.
