I’m looking to bang 150 miles out over the next 2 days so i hope the wind keeps away from Dorset until the weekend.

    Never stopped.

BMX until 21, couple of years of mtb (91/92), then BMX again until 33, then after bad injury mtb as a ‘safe’ alternative, now mostly road for the last year or so (and cx/mtb).

Bikes is bikes, they’re all good.

Love it for days when i cant be bothered to go out for more than 2 or 3 hours on the road bike. It’s ideal for quick 1 or 2 hour blasts on the roads, bridleways and heathland and is a laugh on singletrack. Shame the brakes are crap, as steep rocky stuff is a bit sketchy to say the least.

Would show you around, but i’m away this weekend.

LOADS of great riding in the Purbecks. Should be sandy and dusty after the weather we’ve got at the moment too. 🙂

It would look stupid if it wasnt for the fact that i know how fast you ride that thing.
So the only stupid looking thing is a fat lycra clad me on my silly money 22 geared ti road bike trying to keep up with you on a 30 lb steel fixie with a tax disc, baggies and a camelbak!

About 110psi here. Thats on 23s and i’m the best part of 14 stone. 😕

Out of interest, what are people running on their cx bikes? I tend to have mine fairly hard for the road stuff but it feels a bit harsh in the off road sections of my rides (and i cant be faffed to stop and change pressures mid ride).

If you go deep enough, then yes.

My forearm tattoo is a bit messed up by some surgery/pin placement, and my mates elbow/forearm tattoo has been ‘worn away’ by some road rash.

£70 is just about right for shoes, shorts, helmet, 2 jerseys, camelbak, 2 tyres, pedals… loads of stuff really.

    Oh, and welcome 🙂

Finishing off building Mulletus’ bike dungeon today, followed by 50 miles of Hampshire roads tomorrow morning and then Paris – Roubaix on the telly. Roll on the morning :D.

More than happy with my Ti wedding ring. Much better than the gold one i had last time. 🙂 Seems to have lasted longer too (and so has the ring).

    New kitchen/diner (possibly soonish).
Pair of 30mm carbon clinchers for the road bike.
Couple of motocross bikes and a big field (and a digger).

Newbury’s ok, again has it’s nice and not so nice bits. A lot smaller town centre/shopping wise (but pleasant enough) than Reading and nowhere near as much going on entertainment wise.

Traffic’s loads better than pre-bypass (unlucky Swampy). If you’re working to the West/South of the town and drive then Andover is ok (never thought i’d say that!) and the riding between here and there is pretty good (typing this from my mums in Andover).

If you regularly want to go to London, then obviously Reading makes more sense being that much closer.

    Well it’s nicer than Slough.

Not cheap due to its proximity to London. Some lovely (and expensive) villages nearby.

Traffic’s a nightmare, whatever they do with the IDR, and evenings can be lively in town.
Bit too busy for me, depends what you are used to i suppose.

There are plenty of parts of Reading i wouldn’t want to live in, and a few parts that would be ok. Never thought i’d say it, but i’d probably rather live in Basingstoke 😕

They had one of those silly space frame things in the OPs picture in Ride Cycleworks in Poole last year. Looked a bugger to clean 🙂

Shimano road pedals are pretty easy to get on with. You don’t need to get out in a hurry that often compared to mtb, as you generally see the traffic jam, junction or red light coming up compared with a random bush, rock or trail hazard.

    P.S. I’ve got some spd sl 540s for sale £25 posted 😉

Evening. Don’t worry about not having a mountain bike, they’re so last year.

    Welcome to singleroad world 🙂

Put me down as a skinny tyred lycra wearer. Mostly the road bike, but also the CX bike when it’s mucky out or i’m just out for an hour or two.
No shortage of banter with the blokes i’ve ridden with, just the same as mountain bikers really, but without the unnecessary GNARR! that some mtbers feel they need to exhibit.

No interest in riding the MTB at the moment, although i’ll probably keep it as the Purbecks are only a couple of miles away.

Race BMX is being kept for special occasions (like when the kids are old enough to go to the track) :-).

    4 out of 4

    Road bike
    CX bike
    Hardtail
    BMX

But to be fair, the first 2 are the only ones that get used at the moment.

Rode the mtb for the first time this year on Tuesday to work. After riding just the road and cx bikes for a few months it felt dreadful, heavy and slow, so much so that i’m seriously considering getting rid of it.
As for riding in baggies with a bag on my back, that just feels hot, uncomfortable and unnecessary now.

But to answer the question, i’m a bmxer 🙂 (i just never ride it anymore) 😳

My LBS put together a Lynskey Cooper with an unused (taken off another bike) Chorus 11 speed group for me for £2k. Could do with a wheel upgrade though to make it really hot.

You could get something pretty special second hand for that sort of money.

    Wish i hadn’t asked now! 😉
Bike set up is good so not worried about that. Pedal float and shoes are fine, knees are fine when riding just a bit sore afterwards – this could be down to not stretching or warming down.
