Edit – just seen the downhill photo on your profile. Bike Park UK at Shilingstone just down the road as well for DH and Shore stuff.

I live about 5 minutes from Wimborne, so feel free to mail me if you need someone to show you about.

Plenty of stuff locally, obviously Purbecks just down the road, Wareham Forest, Puddletown woods, Moors Valley, New Forest (if you must) and literally on the door step Canford Heath for an hour or two blast.

Groups go out from all the local shops. Ride Cycleworks (Wednesdays), Primera (Tuesdays i think) and Bikelab and Primera do road group rides on Wednesdays. Also Dorset Rough Riders do rides on Wednesdays i think.

Belgium – motocross, cycling, chips and mayo, chocolate, beer and they still wash the pavements outside of their shops each morning.

Need to be proper fit to do it justice.
It was funny watching DrP killing it last week on the Asthma Beach to Beach 140 miler, finishing first out of 200 starters on an old steel fixie, legs spinning at 100mph at 38mph down hills and churning up the hills dropping us all (Bas**rd!)

I popped down to Bikelab without you Dr and am now scoffing pizza 🙂

You home and available for roadie nonsense at the weekend?

Ok if you live to the west side of the forest, because you can then forget about the forest for mtb and ride the Purbecks instead.

New Forest is however fantastic for roadie stuff and flat relaxing rides (and a few decent sneaky bits if you know where they are).

Watch out for stroppy horse riders though!

Personally i like the look of the Rose Pro – sl 2000. They’ve got one in bikelab in Poole and it definetely looks the part in the flesh.

Got some Shimano r540’s you can have for a tenner. Used but not abused.

Bournemouth to Brighton 140 (road) miles in 2 days.

New Forest day 1, camp overnight, South Downs day 2.

220 of us doing it (too late to enter for this year).

The higher end stuff looks lovely, but i was following a fella on a lavaredo tonight and the finish looked a little ropey (if you’re fussy about welds and stuff), he seemed happy, and quick enough with it though.

Had a look at a Gran Turismo that came into bikelab the other week and that was a belter, similar quality finish as the cento/superleggera.

If i had £1500 to spend on something Italian at the moment it would probably be a De Rosa Milanino – just stunning looking alu frame.

No problem with conti here. I used to run 2.3 Vertical Protections front and back in the Purbecks – seemed to grip well and no real puncture issues. Now run a Tubeless Vertical on the front and a Bonty tubeless on the back and again hapy enough.

Had an alu BMC Elite HT race frame for a while which may have been great on a race course, but it was a harsh bumpy pain in the wrists and backside on long rough rides. More wrong choice than bad kit though.

Tuesday nights Primera do a ride (Purbecks i think).
Wednesdays Ride cycleworks have a big ride (40/50 riders!) leaving the Sandbanks ferry to the Purbecks at 6’ish. Dorset Rough Riders also go out on a Wednesday (i think they meet in Broadstone).

If you ever lower yourself to attend another sportive, why not go and tell these trouble makers how silly they look and explain to them how much it’s ruining you day and how they should do as you say so as not to embarrass themselves any further.
Or you could come on here and show how trendy and hardcore you are.
Or you could concentrate on your own business and riding and let others worry about themselves.

So what bike should a fat middle aged slow biffer be riding? It’s just so confusing. I know, i’ll ride whatever i like because i bought it and if i suddenly become rich i’ll ride something a bit nicer.

I’ll be using a similar alarm system to you. This morning he went off at 6.30ish, so i’ll aim to get to you for 8.
Call you later to talk about routes/directions/etc. Wind looking strong easterly so unless we head east we’ll be having a headwind on the way home 🙁

Basingstoke ice rink when we were teenagers a LONG time ago.

Various detours and another wife later and here we are 🙂

We went the scenic route but it was worth the wait.

Bikelab in Poole have a few Rose bikes in at the moment and they look the business. The aluminium ones got good reports in the ‘bike of the year’ poll the other month.
