Yeah, its only sunburn, get over it.
And its just a little bruise, get over it.
What…nah its just a sprained wrist, get over it.
Oh thats just a broken arm, get over it.

Judging this is a fine balance, but…

How did She explain it to you ? Was she apologetic ? Beside herself with worry ? She may well be beside herself for having allowed this to happen, & will learn a valuable lesson. On the other hand she might not give a hoot, in which case you need to judge it.

What else is she neglecting if she cant be arsed to put suncream on. Whcih she plainly hasnt if this poor little one is as badly burned as you say. She’s got a duty of care for christs sake.

It is sunburn isnt it ? Slapped cheek syndrome ? Allergic reaction ? I remember ours getting slapped cheek & it looked like bad sunburn.

I’ve very fair skin (pale blue I recall Billy Conolly describing it once), & my face burnt badly on Saturday, (overcast & windy, 17c on the beach at Weston).

Getting Hope saw-tooth floaters on my Juicies to work involved dremmeling away bits of caliper, & was a faff I’ve avoided with my Elixirs by using the G3 rotors, which are as light. I’ve seen steel rotors with painted centres, cant remember where though. I actually prefer the look of the G3 rotors now.

40Nm is not to difficult to acheive with a decent socket handle, its the equivalent of 4 bags of sugar off a 1m spanner IIRC.

I’ve always thought it a bit too much TBH, given the fine thread/amount of thread on the lockring.

deanfbm…can I ask, was your rocker red before, or did you get it done…? If so where ?

I’ve just ordered a polishing kit to do my Ventana. Hoping it comes out like this one on the Ventana site:-

How would this kenda climb compare to something at Canoock / Llandegla for isntance ? It looks fairly innocent enough. I quite fancy doing one of these events. Sounds like a laugh. How do you all recognise each other from here though, is there a special sign word or sign ? 😕

We replaced a D4D Toyota Verso with a 130hp TDi Galaxy last year. It averages about 36mpg. Practicality wise its unbeatable. We don’t usually carry the 6/7th seats in place, as they are very heavy. With these seats out the boot is huge. Take the middle seat out the front & I’ve had 4 in, with 3 bikes upright in the car, plus one with wheels off. Best thing about them is they are built for carting families around, & they are very good at it. Take the seats out & the floor is completely flat like a van. (Think easy to vac out). The front seats turn 180deg so we often have picnics in the car. To be fair we could make do with a big estate car, but we also tow a 1500kg caravan with ours, & it does a better job than a car would. Car like they are not though, they do lack refinement, but as a family workhorse they are great. I wasn’t that impressed when we first got ours, but until my kids grow up I cant imagine not having one.
But, & it’s a big but, they aren’t that reliable. The common problems are easy to fix:- wipers can seize if not used during summer, alternator pulley can stick, wires in the wiring loom between drivers door & chassis can break causing windows to play up. They seem free of the injector & DMF issues that plague fords TDCi vehicles.
If your considering one remember all three (Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharran) came off the same production line. Ford finished theirs in 06 I think, but I’ve seen Alhambras on 58/59 plates. The VW version seemed quite bland compared to the Ford & Seat version. Ours is a Ghia model so has climate control etc. There was a guy on the net who turned his into a bike van by adding a bed, & cooking facilities.

Cant you just make a slightly bigger hole & lever the cable aside while you drill the hole.

I do like it, but peppering the car with rivet holes sounds a bit extreme. And expensive…

Wouldnt it have been easier to just call Autoglass… 😉

Its a no brainer. Pick up some Pikes, preferably a 454 coil version. Truly great forks. Rebuild your front wheel onto a Pro2 hub. If your not fussed on colours CRC had some Pro2’s at £40, now the Evo one is out. Failing that the Switch hub from Superstar.

My 29er Inbred is set up rigid SS, but I can chuck the geared back wheel & gear train on & be 1×10 in a few mins. Another 5mins & the sus forks are on. But most of the time its SS. Its not that hilly where I live. I’m not averse to getting off to push if I’d be riding at walking pace anyway. I love the simplicity of SS, but if I felt geared would be better then I’m no slave to the SS thing, because some terrain is better with gears.

Go for the Sids, 120mm travel with 15mm axle. And a bar mounted remote. Locking them for sprinting/climbing becomes second nature after a while.

I have a “Van Heusen” (IIRC), shirt that is always nice to wear. Is cream coloured so bit old fashioned, but I always feel good in this shirt. Lovely material. I have no idea if the make is posh or not, as I picked it up in Oxfam.

Plumbers merchants, not sure if they ever did 6mm microbore copper, but must be olives if they did…
Failing that, look for a generic fit Thermocouple for an old boiler. They have a small bore copper pipe, dont know the dia though, but worth a shot…
Motor Factors, might have some for odd car brakes, but most are flared type anyway…
Yellow Pages, try a local hydraulics stockists…
Pirtek, give them a ring, see if one of their vans is local to you today. (Not as in call them out, obviously, but see if they are attending somewhere local)…

We’re a pretty big Pnuematics mfr & we dont have them (cos I’ve just had a look), nylon air hose tends to be 4mm or 6mm.

As above, IIRC if the road has a no you have to use an approved contractor who has the relevant Liability Ins, £5m I think but depends on the road. Unclassified I think you just need a permit. This used to be a good earner for my old man, when he worked on the council.

Polyurethene perhaps. When I have spray painted bikes, Plastikote seems to work well. Perhaps they have a lacquer.

I picked up a couple of cheap Chinese batteries for my HD, that came with a desktop cradle/charger thing. They outlast the original battery, but problem is having to power down to swap means you have 2/3 lots of GPS data for one ride.
Its a shame there isnt a battery thing invention that just attaches to the rear & plugs into the charger slot.

Outwell Montana 6 for practicality, but it will fill the boot on a medium car. There’s a reason they are so popular & its because they are excellent tents for a family. Build wise, Coleman have it in my opinion, but they can be quite dark inside. We have an old(ish) Tri-Space & it has the thickest groundsheet I’ve ever seen. Not sewn-in though, & thats the big plus point with the Montana. We’ve used ours in single digit temps, & run a 1kw fan heater off a hook-up. Tent stayed lovely & warm. Sadly, we’ve a caravan now, but dusting off the tent for a couple of camping weekends soon.

been thinking of doing this on the sanderson….

found a 2nd Surley 29er steel fork in munich. would it be worthwhile buyijng it, but using my existing 26″ wheel in it? obviously using a disc brake.

    anyone else tried this?

This is my Inbred with a carbon On-One 29er fork. It rode better IMO. (470mm A to C).

Carbon, but dont go looking down the legs as your braking heavy. 🙂

Carbon On-Ones on my 29er. Love them. Add some wide, non oversize carbon bars for added affect.
