Top Secret…excellent film. The bit with the tunnel & the guy with the spoon.
    And the giant telephone.
And the pantomine horse that gets mounted by a real horse.
    Classic.
    RIP.

I’d not take a baby in a trailer while its this cold. A 10min run to the nursery perhaps, but a few hours rattling around a sub-zero temp forest…no chance.

And as nice as posh hex keys are with chamferred hex ends, I always grind them back to give a nice sharp hex. Just means you’ll get as much engagement as possible. Broaching is difficult on Ti, hence poor hex slotting. For small bolts you really can’t beat decent SS. Try a fasteners stockists, they are my first call if I’m speccing a new size at work. Sram 8spd chain here, driving a Deore steel ring. King stainless cog. Has given sterling service.

I replaced my 454 coil Pikes with some 140mm dual air u-turn maxle Revs.
Fantastic fork. As capable as the Pikes, but without the weight.
Be sure you need the u-turn though, as air u-turns are prone to clunking if not at max or min travel.

Is it fair to say that, as newer cars get safer, older cars become more risky ?
I’m thinking in terms of an older 2* car gets hit by a new 5* car, (of same size), surely more of the impact would be deflected onto the less robust vehicle…? I guess that a collision has a certain amount of energy to be absorbed, & if one deflects that energy surely it will go to the one less able to deflect?
We run a 54′ Galaxy & a 52′ Mondeo incedently, how can I find out what * rating they are ?

If you think you might add to the litter in a year or two the Phil & Ted might be a good move. I can vouch for its longevity given the hammering ours has had. And the single width is a godsend when shopping.

2-off SKU12060’s here. Two years old now, still great.
Mates have them also, no problems whatsoever.
SKU12000 is the DX no for the rubber mount we use. Depnends on helmet but fits most. To be honest, a folded bit of innertube & a pair of zip ties does a good enough job. I use a folded bit of innertube & a big stretchy ‘O’ ring for my bike mount.

Trying to improve the flow performance of a manifold that controls gas going into a fuel cell. Lots of 3d cad > drilling in workshop > testing in lab…(repeat). And so it goes on.
Nearly lunchtime & its Brussels pate’ on seeded bread today.
After lunch…the calcs for a cylinder for a nuclear plant.

Stick with the old one & put in an LPG fuel cell micro-CHP when they hit the market in a few years.

Its usually normal to shim a caliper, but just for disc alignment within the pads. The shims are somewhat thinner than normal M5 washers, usually get them in packs of 0.25mm & 0.5mm for a couple of £'s. You wont know it needs shimming till its bolted up, you'll hear it/feel it rubbing on the pads.

    I tracked them down once.
Details are at work, can dig them out if you like.
They even sent me a couple of free samples…for a work project obviously…!!!

Coils do get stiffer as they compress. You tend to design around a workable length change though.
I spec springs for valves in Nuclear power plants, although these are mostly disc springs (Bellville’s) with very small deflections. The closest you’ll get to true linear compression with a coil spring is a machined coil, but you’d need a bloody long one to get 4″ of travel.
And they cost. Reckon on £2k – £3k each.
    Beautifully machined components though.

    Thanks chaps.
Have found some trail maps for the Timberland Trail & the bit in 50 acre Wood. Looks good.
    Cheers.
