What’s so wrong with the Duo? Looks sensible enough, in pictures, design isn’t really much different from other guides

Its half the price of any other Duo chain device, but quality is expected to be the same????

Never had a problem with them. always great value and good quality and i have bought loads from them over the years. They are busy at the moment i suspect given some of the offers they have just done and it being holiday season. But when you pay as little as you do for SS products surely expecting a massive customer care call centre is a little unrealistic. They will no doubt resolve your issue, just not as quickly as some of the more expensive manufacturers. Alternatively you could buy from your LBS and not have any of these issues.

+2 for SUperstars carbon wheels, love mine. chucked everything i have thrown at them, still run perfectly true. I had no problems running tubeless with Ardent and High Roller. Superstars yellow tape and valves. I would buy another set in a heart beat!

An inbred is fine for the red, blue and off piste stuff mate. I have been up to the FOD 4 times this week on mine,
I find my full suspension is too much bike forest of what they have up there. The blue is a great xc loop and surprisingly good fun. You should be able to complete it in around 35mins easily enough

Im doing the full bore this year. Not sure what bike to take. Inbred 29er (heavy as) or my Banshe SPitfire (bizarrely lighter) Never done it before but given its fireroads and alike i am thinking 29er!!

Thanks guys some good choices. The Schwable look bloody expensive if buying from the UK. Will look on Zee-Germans website to see what deals i can get.

I have had Toros before in 26″ flavour and liked them but found they were quite square in profile. That said i cant bloody remember what rims i was running them on now.

Not looked at Geax tyres before?

Ouch, sorry to read this. Gutted for you.

Took my new bikes out for a play this weekend. Bike one (my new 29er cheap inbred) got scratched by my mates pedal on the bike rack. I had loaned it out to my new to riding mate. I have not even ridden it yet. Bike two my Banshee Spitfire.. Second ride out I have dented the bottom bracket shall with a rock. Great ride, but in the warm glow of my laptop with bank holiday blues. I am feeling a little sore about it now. I would be gutted if i had of trained travelled and then that happened. Keep your chin up fella

Last two orders have taken more than a week to get to me, the tyres I ordered took 10 days.

I just used their standard postage option so can’t complain. Most unlike crc, however the sun has his hat on and the fair weather riders are back out spending money so I guess they are busy.

I sell a fair bit through pinkbike, but have had my fair share of time wasters. The latest being yes I will have it, but will pay tomorrow….I tell them the item is for sale until someone pays for it now. You get the usual low-ballers much like you do here. I would say the PB audience is a little younger demographic.

Bought some superstars carbon wheels, used a couple of times now. Once for HONC once for trail centre stuff. Really happy so far, to be honest like others the difference i have found is they are noticeably stiffer and possibly a little harsher. Set some strava PB’s with them, but that could be a number of things.
I like them, if they made a 29er set i would buy some more for next build so will probably go LB for next set but only because SS dont make 29ers

Woke up this morning with a stomach bug, but went for it. Decided on the shorter route glad I did as in the state I was in I would t of made it. I didn’t bother changing tyres but wish I did. Wind killed me. Enjoyable day.

Same as above I suffer with lower back pain. I made it slightly better by getting my saddle height absolutely spot on. I found that if it was even slightly too high I suffer with lower back pain vey quickly after the first climb!

Unless like my son you want a blue bike and refuse to accept another colour… He is blue mad, Islabike stopped making the 14″ bike (conof?) in Blue, I asked if I could have one made they said no. Bought a near new second hand one and paid nearly the same as new. Annoying yes, spoilt kids maybe, but I want to encourage him to ride so paid my money and made my choice.

Been thinking about tyres this evening, I have nothing super fast rolling for my 650b looked at thunder berts, but would love some advice on very fast rolling 650b tyres.

The first propper climb I found tough going today, just kept going and going! So not nike fit at the moment, But it should spread the field a bit!

Iain we did the same today, lots of road. That bit under the trees was bloody awful. we did some slightly off piste bits and it was wheel clogging muddy. Otherwise a pleasant route, cx bike would be so much quicker round. Felt like I needed slicks for 3/4 of the route

I did the long Madorc last year, that was a tough event. Mainly due to the extra 10k + I had to ride when getting lost due to the lack of markers. It completely psyched me out. Will still do it again this year mind!

For the record, i will be running the same set-up on my F/S when i finish building it, however with an XT rear mech as i believe it pushing my luck with chain growth. So for me Hardtail its spot on FS i wouldn’t chance it

    russyh

Yes i run one on my hardtail, shifts like a dream! T-rex 40t rear, Zee Freeride Mech 32t N/W front ring!

I dont ride with bottle cages to be honest i would prefer not to have the boss’ installed. The forward geo doesnt bother me at all. I dont like the feel or the look of it. So something more ‘traditional’ works best for me.

Thanks Ross, hat just what i needed to hear. Can I pay be Credit Card? Hoping to keep my current bikes and sell near delivery to pay for!

I looked at the geo-charts and was fairly confident, it should fit ‘Fine’I don’t like allot of the modern forward geo stuff. I guess i will just have to cope with 70mm stem being ugly. Hell it hasn’t got crossmax enduro’s so I will be out of fashion anyway! My mate has ordered a large, i suspect he will find that more cramped than me we are going to look like a right pairs of kn0bs turning up on matching bikes!! YT’s sizing guide must be well off as it says the medium is for riders up to 6ft. They must have loads returned if that’s the case? Still i got a 3 month wait, they have not taken any money from me yet? Do they normally take the cash at point of dispatch? Bit worried the Euro will bounce its ass back up!

    russyh

Interesting. I am 5’9 and have gone for a medium. I have short legs and long torso. It seems the geo is pretty close to that of a specialized Enduro 650b? Which appears to be my size? Have i made a mistake??? Reading peoples thoughts in sizing it seems like people consider them to be small in terms of reach etc. is this just in terms of the new forward geo stuff? If so i am fine with that as I don’t like the forward geo stuff

I have Revs on my Bird Zero, really struggled to get them dialled. Was about to order a set of pikes this week, but had another fiddle and thy are pretty damn good now. Previously they had felt super harsh, but dropped the PSI a little 4 clicks on compression dampening and the fact they are now properly worn in. They feel great. If however I had my time of ordering the bike again. Well I would pick the Pikes. I loved the Pikes on my Orange Five. Perhaps its a placebo effect. But I also feel like I cheapened myself not buying them when i bought the bike!

Be interested to hear people’s experiences of hydration packs that sit around your waist. I find a standard hydration pack has been adding to some back woes, been riding pack less recently and falling back in love with my riding. Worried that by summer time I will have to take a hydration pack again. I have been looking at wing nuts etc. but would love to hear others thoughts or recomendations of brands that keep the weight wound your waist.

I have almost given up on the place Velonutter is unreasonable and is singlehanded ruining the classifieds section. I am on my last warning. He just wouldn’t admit he was wrong and when I proved him wrong he gave me a warning! I try and use the mtb forum, but any sensible question turns into public ridicule. It’s all but dead now, not helped with ads and contant logging out/in issues. Traffic must of halved lately

Having worked in the motor trade for 15 years and knowing Wessex garages very well I would suggest the following.

The chips will likely be touched in by a smart repairer, this is standard practice for most/all franchised dealer groups. It shouldn’t put you off its just likely that the repairs have not been done prior to retail presentation. This is often the case when it comes to non franchise product. They will limit prep cost as there is no manufacturer standards for non franchised cars and they will limit the time the car is spent of the forecourt before sending to auction/trading. So if I were you, I would actually prefer to see the car ‘warts and all’ and ask the sales Man to get the repairs done apbut caveat it that if you are not happy you will not complete the transaction. Try to be realistic though, they won’t repaint a door on a car because of stone chips they will touch it in, paint is always the very last option on a used car due to cost and the fact 9/10 people nowadays can tell a panel has been painted as more modern colours become difficult to match. Not only this but it’s a 3 nearly 4 year old car so some signs of use should be expected.

As for Wessex, They are as good as a dealer gets. The operate a 100% satisfaction scheme which is rare for dealer groups nowadays as this is usually monitored by manufscturer standards, so if you are not happy you will get your deposit back.

If you need and more help or thoughts my email is in my profile. I do t work for Wessex by the way!!!!
