THing is whoever buys that bike is goign to want a dropper. Reverb is £250 ish new so the price is actually £1250, regardless of how much they can buy one for second hand that will be in their mind.

Others are right stick it on ebay with a 99p starting bid and no reserve and it will find its market value.

I have had the same from CRC previously. It properly fried my brain! I spent ages trying to remember what the hell i bought, who was at home to sign for it bla bla. Called the wife asked if she had been home or had anything delivered. Then worked out it was for something delivered 6 months previously. I just presumed something had not been cleared off an automated system and the Royal mail or CRC were cleaning their database.

So long term reviews of the post? How are they holding up? I have broken my second reverb in almost as many months. I am bloody sick of them and the warranty claim is taking time due to Christmas closure. Trouble is I have no idea what to go for next as I want another 150 drop. But I want one that is reliable!

Dude, in all seriousness if you want a set of flows email me. I have bought a set and have no need. Wife is likely to kill me.

Not defending ss here but with respect if you have not heard good things about their carbon wheels then you have not read previous threads on singletrack. There have been loads of positive comments. I personally had a set and thought they were great. The wheel build was woefully poor, but the rim itself was fantastic. I am a serial wheel killer as well.

Aiming for 97kg by Jan 31st, 90 in 3 months and 85 by the time the National Champs rolls around in June

Good luck, I have just sold my boat and decided to take a break from competitive sailing for a few years now. Mtb has taken over my life. I have to say I am not missing the cold of the winter handicap events, but I am missing the events themselves.

Sorry mk2’s I don’t need them but for that money perfect to fit some heavy tyres to for uplift days

I just ordered some 650b flows mk3 on same hubs for £125! I have no need for them either! Madness

I just sold my 15 mk2 650b frame for £800 with shock and headset. The pink one here is the version before so I would say is priced about right. The pink is a bit of a rare colour personally I would keep it.

Yes, the 2014 model was both 26 & 650b I believe (650b came out towards the later part of the year) early mk1 650bs were more like the older shorter style geos. When Orange launched the mk2 650b it was longer, slightly slacker and lower. Also a touch lighter I believe. A marked improvement over previous models in my opinion. The new 2017 five is better still. I am super chuffed with mine, it’s the lightest most surefooted Five I have owned (my 4th now). I am really, really chuffed
    With it.

    Rides – 145
    Time – 235hr 59mim
    Distance -1770 miles
    Elv gain – 204,081 m

All off road, 230 miles short of my year goal. But gutted really. But I will smash it next year!

Only at the front – and that’s a fork, not frame issue. 3mm extra each side at the back, that’s all.

No on my new Orange Five it has almost exactly (as much as a metal rule can tell me) more clearance than my old frame. This is the latest version vs the previous incarnation of the five.

So my new frame is boost, it’s a bloody annoyance if I’m honest. I had a brand new set of wheels 142×12. I fitted a boostinator and the set up is sound. The new boost standards did make me think twice about ordering. The 10mm extra clearance is a nice touch but even then i doubt my new frame would have clearance for 2.8 tyres. Not that I would want it too to be fair

To be fair though, Orange would not be interested in supporting a frame which was purchased second hand.

I have not ridden a codine, but have been a long time Five owner having owned most of the recent incarnations. They are great bikes and largely bulletproof in terms of build quality. Not as heavy as many make out once you build them up with descent parts (factory builds tend to be poor heavy spec) my current Five is a fraction over 28lbs with some fairly hefty tyres. With a descent quality shock on it pedals fantastically and I can’t say I ever notice any real lack of suspension when braking. Which is the main complaint of the standard keyboard warrior

I have been using a go-outdoors cheapy bumbag hydration pack to see if I can get on with it. Much prefer it to my standard pack. I am going to order one of the better quality packs when I see an offer on over the next few weeks. I get about 750ml/1ltr of fluid which is plenty for evening spin outs pretty much all year and I can keep the basics in there. Hoping one of the better design waist packs can allow me to take a little more without it all bouncing around too much

B1 is just as bad, if not worse than the last gen. my new B1started sagging after 4 rides, it’s new replacement has developed a sticking fault whilst dropping which has resulted in a scratched stanchion. Currently sat at the local bike shop awaiting return again. My LBs has a pile to return following the xmas break. He says that nearly every one he has sold has been returned (B1) i was thinking of changing to a Fox but stock is an issue for 150mm travel. Likely hood is i will move away from the reverb in the new year once mine is returned.

GX is 30g lighter than xt but looks to be about £20 more, plus the additional cost of xd driver.

DT xd driver is 47g the shimano sram version 49g hardly ground breaking weight savings vs cost

So far this year about 20 miles on road, missing my off road target of 2000 miles by the look of it.

I’m very gutted! I set a target of 2000 off road miles for 2016 and I look set to hit around 1900. Tempted to drag the road bike out to hit the number, but that would be cheating. I am definitely going to hit the number next year. But will have to raise the target as I am planning on starting road again next year

I have aeffect on my fat bike and for the money they are a fantastic crankset (in my opinion) I wanted direct mount so i could run a smaller chainring and not be hamstrung by BCD’s. Fitted an absolute black oval ring and that setup has been fantastic ever since. Its quiet, looks very neat and just works! I run it with a Hope BB and have done over a 1000 miles on that setup now (checking strava) without an issue. I do have heal rub on the raied sections of the crank arms, but unlike shimano the now polished bits look like they “were meant to be” I have not run a set on a skinny bike, but cant see why there is any real difference to be honest.

I had a set of hope cranks and in my opinion they are very overrated. The spindle has several slots machined into it, which actually terminate at the BB interface and crank arm attachment point. Which is a pretty weak spot. I cracked the spindle on mine. Several people tried to say it was user fit error, unfortunately they were fitted at the hope factory. the replacement spindle is not overly expensive and Hope would warrant if you were the first owner. But I personally don’t think its a great design. They are also heavy and use their own chainring interface. Superstars now make rings but the choice is very limited. They also creak like mad and needed stripping and greasing allot. Not to mention the weight! I upgraded to a set of Sixc cranks which have since been absolutely faultless. I ddont think you can go far wrong with the new cinch raceface cranks in terms of VFM and functionality

It’s very difficult to explain some of the routes as obviously nothing is sign posted. What time are you riding Friday? Maybe worth posting on some facebook pages to see if there is anyone local to show you some routes? I would be happy to but I’m working Friday and would likely only be out later afternoon now. If you head back at a weekend in the future I am happy to show you some off piste bits

Yep I had exactly this…this week. Turned out the post office posted a customs receipt through my letter box I then had to pay duty plus an £8 duty charge. Then selected a date for it to be delivered. It arrived 3 days later and has literally just been fitted! It will come I can assure you, but prerpare to be financially abused by the post office!

OThing really to add re the voucher situation. But to pick up in some earlier posts. I spend a fair bit of time at BPW now, the uplift guys have always been great as have the reception staff. But the cafe has been woeful of late, overpriced and over or under cooked food. Not sure what has changed there but it used to be great but over the last 3 months it’s been shocking!

I think with any suspension design people have personal preferences and they become pretty tribal about it. I like how a five pedals but find it needs a good shock with climb switch. In terms of poppy, good at jumping etc. I really haven’t ridden a modern bike that is bad! The Five sure down love being in the air and my current Five has taken everything I can throw at it. In my opinion they really are the ultimate bike for UK riding. Pedals all day for fun, climbs well, can be used for uplifts and enduros

I have a brand new 2017 Five frame I am about to build up as an upgrade from my current 650b Mk2 five. Can’t really answer your question yet, but my current Five is awesome and the newer model with a slightly lower bb and slight longer top tube along with a slightly reduced weight should be bloody amazing! I will say it looks bloody sexy too for a filing cabinet

Carbon Cranks and lighter wheelset. Its transformed my bike…Brand new Five frame is sat at home in the box mind awaiting my boost conversion kit! Should be built by the end of the year and im hoping this will be the best upgrade.

It’s 27mm external diameter which I think is around 22.5 inner. They are the 2016 model, I want surprised at all as to how well they have held up. Seem to come spec’d on some of the longer travel higher end German brand bikes now and are popular with some local Enduro racers they are also classed as “AM” wheels for whatever that means. I am really hard on wheels (broken Chinese carbon, mavic Enduros, arches ) and was conscious around the warranty situation. Ultimately given as had bought them new and can prove that I would ‘give a claim a go’ if needs be, but the saving over other retailers was worth the risk. I think the cheapest i forum in the uk as £575 I paid £450 delivered
