Madegar, you got access to strava? If you follow me most of my rides are off piste in FOD including a hybrid of the old enduro route, but including some proper enduro stage descents to finish. You can download them to a Garmin if needs be

Got any descent video on an actual trail at BPW other than the qualifier bit of Terry’s? Be interested to hear how it goes on some of the burley stuff as I have a friend looking at one.

Personally I run whatever is on the bike, usually a Mary upfront and Dampf on the back. Snakeskin, works all year round. My mate sees to absolutely destroy his Maxxis tyres around there (we ride BPW allot) It really does depend on what trail you are riding there as to how harsh it is on tyres.

Looks Like some fairly brutal climbs in that, I may download it and give it a go. Load of road sections as well.

wont be long until an online supplier sluts out the 2018 forks I imagine. As above it’s all about patience, I will change my 2016 forks when the deal is right.

Super chuffed with my Jeffsy. Absolutely brilliant bike…best I have owned in years in fact. Probably the cheapest too!

I park at Cannop as its easy and ensures we get some good mileage in. My MTB OCD’s mean I need to do a “loop” and i need mileage. So it suits me. Usually stop at Parkend cafe for some lunch, there is so much stuff in such a small area, you just need to spend the time speaking with people or researching. The Trailforks Ap is a great tool for finding some of the better known off piste stuff.

To be honest the best bit about FOD is NOT using the uplift…if you are making a drive over and want something other than the waymarked trails you will need to spend some time doing some research. The place is frankly brimming with trails. The OP sounds like he is goign for a second visit with his boys, so the Red and Blue would be a great couple of trails. They only get boring one you have ridden them a few times as they are so short, luckily the red trail changes with the weather to keep it interesting. We barely ride the marked trails now except in the winter at night as everything else starts to become a real mess! There are very, very few if any jumps or drops on the red or blue. The ones which are there have an alternative route but are tiny. Once my little boy is strong enough to survive the climbs I would happily take him on those trails.

Just clicked on the video for this on facebook then noticed the Pump, which would be perfect for me until i saw the price. Its looks a fantastically neat bit of kit but even for me the most die hard victim of gadget fashion its too much cash…Especially when i can tape and strap most of the kit around the frame for free.

    Hi al
There is nothing on either the red or blue trails which is. It completely rollable. The red has some rooty sections which can get sloppy when wet but otherwise is a sedate affair. The blue is great fun and very fast! They compare to other trail centre headings really…my wife rides both of them and she only rides a handful of times a year. If you have not been before I recommend it. Off piste stuff is not easy to find in FOD unless you know the area fairly well. I would always recommend a ride with a guide, however you can find some stuff off the back of locals Strava records etc…

It early for me to comment, I’m a couple of months in to ownership. So far so good, we have had a wet start to the summer prior to this heat wave so I have not had to touch anything yet. Bike is completely silent

I really am made up with my Jeffsy! The bike is an absolute weapon. The most confidence inspiring bike I have ridden for years.

So I rode Bluebells the other day the middle trail has had the gaps/ jumps destroyed trouble is they have left a massive hole now so it actually looks more dangerous. Also looks like the drop at the end has been taken out which is not a surprise as I always found it particularly savage

How the hell have you damaged it Renton?

Can you fit a ramp cartridge with a luftkappe?? Didn’t think you could in some cases?

I was told it had been taken out completely? Which the FC normally do when someone crocs themselves. But not heard of any of that. I only rode the very end of BB yesterday whilst cutting across to parkend so hadn’t seen what had been done. We are doing an evening ride over that part of the forest tomorrow so will take a look myself

Worth joint the DTV Facebook group for updates on what’s being built where. Granted this is only official stuff really. Not aware of anything ‘bad’ happening at Bluebells. It’s getting tot the time of year when that trail becomes properly rideable again. It’s been fairly lethal over the winter. I had heard it had been destroyed but not sure who by? Will do some digging see if I can find out more

I would be really cautious buying a used Yeti. Especially at that kind of price… Not that I have any personal experience but there seems a fair bit of internet noise with regards to cracked frames… In fact about the only “boutique” brand i would invest significant £££ in second hand would be Santa Cruz. Everything else would seem like too much of a gamble. Hence going for a new bike.

Was in a similar situation recently. Plumped for a Jeffsy cf one. It’s an absolutely scorching bike! Handled everything I have thrown at it with ease so far. Was worried I would want more travel, but my worries were put to bed fairly quickly. It’s cliched to say it has the benefits of a 29er without many of the pitfalls. But it really does. Super fast, sure footed so balanced. Does not feel clumsy in anyway. You can still tell it’s a lanky legged mofo on switchbacks, specifically on the exit of those corners. But I’m adapting my riding to suite this, to be honest it just highlighted that I was not smooth and too heavy on the brakes.

I have a pair and noticed a bit of play this evening so will need to embark on a rebuild shortly! Panicking now!

I was all set to buy one, but after falling out with ORange and trying a different brand which was frankly a better bike than my 2017 five i didn’t bother. My good riding buddy has a segment and that bike is an absolute machine and blast to ride. He is a good rider and pretty quick, not seen him out of his depth once on it or complain he needed more travel. Fantastic underrated bike in my opinion.

There was a thread the other week about this. The came fitted in 29 x 2.4 55a format on my bike. I found them bloody lethal as a front tyre and not great as a rear personally, some said it was the compound. I’m not so sure, I still run one as a rear currently and it’s doing an OK job I the dry. Wet roots though no traction at all.

Interesting how you get on with the Codine, I looked at one a few years ago and thought it looked short. Probably ok for someone like me but if you like longer reach bikes, it’s going to feel a bit old skool. Would recommend trying a Jeffsy if you can you can run it in a high geo which would be good for swinley. Albeit I still think you are crazy both cycling there regularly and not sticking with the Whyte

Large and XL stock is due in the end of June according to their website. I am absolutely over the moon with mine! So fast, comfortable and stable! But still
    Immensely fun! Get one ordered

Really good mate. I am absolutely in love with it…I was worried about the shorter reach, but took the gamble and happy I did. I came to realise that really long and low BB don’t work for Me. It just feels so right. Stable, fast and controlled. Needs some upgrades to get where I want but they are on hold whilst we move house.

If it works you will sell it for a profit and buy another bike?

And the circle of life continues!

So as a massive SRAM hater, but currently running X11 on my new bike. i am actually converted. Will be buying as soon as I can. Has the range i want at an acceptable price point. Be interested to know if the 50t alloy ring can be replaced when teeth wear/snap.

Revert back to standard if i were you then flog on. New version is a gnats chap away from £2k with eagle.

Im gonna guess you will be lucky with £750 in standard form.

25 front 28 rear for me, well that’s what my gauge says. The actual number is irrelevant I guess as its what feels right. I like a stiffer side wall to help reduce squirm/roll as running high pressure feels pretty horrid and unpredictable to me.

If it’s a 29er full suspension bike around 140/150 travel I could t wait any longer…gutted if it is

‘d avoid YT after hearing all the nightmare warranty stories

In the interest of fairness, what warranty stories have you heard with Jeffsy’s? They seem to have it pretty dialled after the spate of early Capra issues.

Unsure about airdrop regards to warranty. I seem to remember it being short (2years) the bird warranty is fantastic, probably the best out there which is surprising given the exceptional value they offer

Still in the same predicament myself as what to bring. ultimately i think it will end up being Minion DHF Exo front and DHR2 Exo rear. But worse case i will stick with what i have – Magic Mary Trailstar snakeskin front and Ibex 55a rear
