Got to be honest I am massively suprised with how good my RSC’s. Brilliant brakes…having run m8000’s recently I found them pretty poor to be honest very binary compared to the guides. As for hope I had the latest version of the E4’s and found them a bit meh, far from fit and forget. I wouldn’t waste the money on them again I don’t think

Clearly that is up to the sponsors & whether or not they consider that they are suffering from reputational damage by associating themselves with a cheat.

Obviously really, I was merely stating my thoughts. I personally wouldn’t want him to lose his backing now he has made an apology.

Completely with you around some saying it doesn’t matter and should be ignored. I find that a little narrow minded. Cheating, is cheating and is the scourge of all sports.

Do I think this chap would of admitted to his mistake if there was no GoPro footage…no, so I take the sincerity of his post with a swig of ‘wish I hadn’t been caught’. But he has apologised, it’s been taken seriously as he has been DSQ.

I think it’s time to move on, the long term ramifications for this chap will live longer than this thread I suspect

My daughters uses her data monthly within days! Streaming music, watching YouTube etc. So being plugged into the wifi at home doesn’t really help. But we set it up so when it’s gone it’s gone! She wants it she pays for it. She is a sensible kid mind, so understands and never makes a fuss. Think she has a 10gb allowance could be wrong

It took long enough to come out and admit his mistakes but at least he has. So fair play to him. Everyone makes stupid decisions at some point of their life. It’s how they handle it that makes them a good or bad person. I believe he is sincere, if maybe that sincerity has been prevoked by outrage. But I don’t believe he needs his career or sponsorship ending for a stupid move in 1 race….

Dobie, think there is some confusion over the mean and dirty enduro race and Cranham woods in the posting. Mean and dirty use Ebworth which is a private wood owned by national trust and mean and dirty have permission to run events there. There are now specific trails all are cut in for the different races they run

Well we are starting late ish on the Sunday event. I’m a little worried with the waiting it will become a slog and not enjoyable as I’m determined to complete the event, we all are and have trained hard to makes sure we are fit enough to make it enjoyable

I have done a couple, there has never been anything too technical. It is very fresh trails and you. An get caught out by the terrain. I have gone OTB twice there hitting sunk tree stumps. The first race I did it was muddy…very muddy and I just couldn’t get up enough speed for my tyres to clear. Which meant it was impossible to ride quickly. My own fairly, in correct tyre choice really.

It’s a fun event, nicely run. Perfect first enduro, you will enjoy it

Yeah that’s the race, thought I could have a look before race day. I could take the dogs for a walk up there if there is a bridal way.
Thanks man will look into it. In the mean time I might head up for a ride one evening on the other side. Anywhere best to park?

It’s very much off limits out of race time. In fact if riders are caught up ther they may cancel the event. Won’t be much to look at as it’s mostly unridden, fresh cut stuff. When you race use tyres that are fast clearing as it’s always a mud fest and claggy mud!

Sunday sport start for me at 10:40.

Anyone riding the Sunday fancy a ride Saturday?

I’m planning on going for a ride Saturday with my mates, we are heading up Friday some Saturday so unsure of time yet but definitely heading out

Just had my start timing through for the Sunday race…10:50 doesnt give me much of a “buffer” if things go wrong. I’m guessing. Cant wait mind

So you had the frame for a year, then got it taped. I’m sorry fella its a shoddy job but a good as I guess many can d after a years use. You would never get it clean enough without stripping all back to basic parts soaking then drying with a lint free cloth before alcohol wiping. I do blame he bike shop as they obviously under charged for the job. It would take a LONG time to get a well used frame properly done. IME

Silence can speak volumes eh russyh?

Agreed…either speak our or withdraw from the race as far as i’m concerned. Sure i feel for him if it isnt actually him, but in this world of social media courts you are guilty until proved innocent nowadays.

If it were me and I had been wrongly accused i would not be deleting peoples comments more proving it was not me and making a statement on my social media pages to that effect.

When I said stripped I meant I had taken nearly all the components off the bike so they could get to the frame.

So it’s fittings a kit to a used frame? If so I revert to my earlier post. Did you or the shop make the job easier by breaking the frame into component parts? By that I mean removeinh linkages and swing arms, shocks etc.

Way I see it is fitting a kit to a used frame is pretty damn hard to get all of the crap off the frame as I mentioned earlier. I rode my bike once and spent hours stripping and cleaning it and still have contamination under the invisframe. Luckily for me I don’t care particularly. As long as the kit last 12months I’m happy

If that’s a brand new, un-ridden bike its a fairly shoddy job. If you are like me too excited to waste time doing shitty jobs like invisiframe and ride you bike before fitting it then i think its not too bad. Basically one you have ridden a bike its impossible to get all of the little bits of grit and dirt off if find. Best bet is to de-grease and clean the frame before fitting as you lift out of the box…

Ben Deakin says he took the video down as the lad was getting destroyed over it!

Where on the solent do you sail? Worth seeing if there are any fleets of anything and joining in with them as the racing will no doubt be better, even if the boat itself doesn’t seem ideal on paper. Musto Skiffs/RS700’s are coming down in price now too as they’re getting quite old. Easier to sail than an RS600 despite the extra sail too.

What have you self built previously?

You do realise that this is GRF don’t you Tim…

So what’s the sanction then? DQ from the race? Sacked from the team for bringing them into disrepute!?!?!

I guess it’s a DSQ result if the organisers are actually interested in the event having any kind of credibility in its results. I would take a very, very dim view as a sponsor. From a personal perspective we all make mistakes when the adrenaline is flowing, what makes us a proper person is how we handle ourselves in a competitive situation. Personally I’m all for pushing the boundaries but that was a complete piss take

Perhaps I’m blind to it, but I don’t see any kind of gear ‘snobbery’. Quite the reverse when you look away from magazines and into forum land. Where you get the usual reverse snobbery and judgement if you spend the money on the latest kit such as eagle. I don’t care what people are riding as long as they are out. Unless it’s a fat smoker on a e bike…seen a few of them lately

He only needs 2000 entries/tickets to get the cash back (not Inc. any fees) – selling a 6k bike at rrp alone would be worth it, but with the added marketing value it’s a bit of a genius move imo.

He started the comp/raffle small, win parts / forks etc and the prize has grown with the amount of entries.

Kind of my issue with it, as a raffle you knew the odds now it’s a closed prize draw there is no need to disclose the number of enteries. Which meant you couldn’t not quantify the odds. They are not allowed to run a raffle it would seem so had little choice but it was not clear enough for me. Glad people are winning, it does all sound very genuine. No problem with someone turning a profit from it either.

Cracking has become more of an issue with the later models it seems…hell there has even been a separate group setup on Facebook ‘orange cracked frames’

I’m a life long orange fan and never had a cracked frame myself, but I had a problem and they were woeful in how they handled it! They still to this date have not replied to my last contact email…every time I emailed I had to follow up with a call 2 days later. Shame!

Well if you are only around parkend for sure it’s a tiny amount. So lucky with the FOD that there is so much available. I don’t profess to be an expert at all, every time I ride I find something new. It’s great place and I simply adore spending time there.

Hopefully those that have looked at my Strava routes have found them some fun, like I say I’m not expert but log everything there and ride 3 times a week In the area, happy to meet up and ride we folks too

Is that the Red Bull dream bike comp? In which case you’ll be limited to its sponsors.

Im guessing the South Coast suspension raffle, now non raffle prize draw thing…Fair play for winning, I stopped entering when it became a competition where there was no limit to the number of entries that could be sold. As to me it ruined the odds, but i still like hearign of what people who have one picked

Wow congratulations! Personally if it were me and you like the Jeffsy I would build up a high tower….alternatively If you really like your Jeffsy (I love mine) could you not blow some of the cash on upgrading it? Enve, fox, eagle etc? Then use the remainder to upgrade your hardtail?

It’s a good resource that Facebook page, but there is a load of rubbish on there too. They get very defensive over the frame cracking issues orange seem to be having currently

Pretty poorly served in England to be honest FOD is my local, I spend most of my riding time there. In fact I did the ‘blue’ trail Friday as I needed to do a quick loop. It’s pretty boring, sure the last decent is good fun but I would feel fairly shortchanged if I was comparing it to Scottish or Welsh centres. Cannock for me is horrible, couple of nice bits but not worth the amount of chavs in the car park. Swinley is somewhere I won’t grace with my presence again. Gisburn was good fun the few times I have been so probably my favourite English centre… luckily in Gloucestershire we have some excellent off piste riding or are a stone throw away from the South Wales centres. Think I would of given up if I only rode English trail centres

Watching this thread with interest. If all goes to plan I’m moving in September to a house with a bigger garage. My current ‘dad den’ is fantastic, but small and a bloody mess. Wife has signed off budget to make sure the new one is mint!

Jimplops, no problems accepted your request. Hope it helps, we have been stopping at Park Dean cycle centr recently as the milkshakes and cakes are fantastic, but you scould start some of the routes from cannop and use parkend as a finishing point

Madegar, you got access to strava? If you follow me most of my rides are off piste in FOD including a hybrid of the old enduro route, but including some proper enduro stage descents to finish. You can download them to a Garmin if needs be
