Yeah it’s been like that for at least 3 weeks, I rode past it today and noticed someone has removed some of them. It’s obviously riders who have blocked it I would say, you can still drop to the fireroad the other side of the blocked exit. It’s just slightly more ‘technical’

It hasn’t had it? I thought they just blocked one of the drops on to the fireroad meaning you had to drop off to the left as you approach it. Passed it today but have to admit I wasn’t riding down it, just past

Edit just reread your post, I’m guessing that drop is closed as it was getting pretty worn, i was a bit purplexed as it looked like someone wanted to force people to take the tougher drop.

fair play to anyone who can do the full climb or even fire road climb in 20 minutes! Not sure on my fastest time, or if i have ever timed it. But i suspect its much longer than that.

We quite often use BPW as somewhere to ride when the weather is shocking and very, very rarely use he uplift. As others have said you can get a descent days riding in if you pedal up. 5 runs easy and 7 for a full day, experience tells me if we pedal up for some reason we are less likely to see and injured mate….Not sure why, perhaps its soemthing to do with warming up. Realistically its probably just one of those things.

I got to say i am bored of BPW for the time being, having overdone it somewhat. That hardpack pebble, trail centre stuff drives me insane.

My mate has just ordered the tunes model…absolute bargain he seems to think. He now has a lightly used (3 times) 710 plus genius carbon for sale! The lunatic loved it so much he has upgraded! Think he wants £1900 if that’s any good for anyone in medium

I don’t think numbers is an issue, more of an issue is folk riding tracks that are above their ability levels tbh.

No way folks should be walking down stuff, none of it is particularly techy.

+1, completely agree! I entered the sport catagory as it was coined as being more relaxed, being our first ard rock we didn’t want to be the ones holding people up. Became fairly aparant fairly quickly that we had got it wrong and should of gone on the Saturday. Not saying that my group are lightning fast, but it was frustrating as hell with people stopping on the trails. We kind of got it and too it for what it is, no point in getting upset or pressuring people. Just we got the catagory wrong! Next year if we get through the entry lottery I’m going Saturday race!

As for the stage 1 diversion, I can believe it added a minute. It was a fair old lump added on plus it was impossible to over take and there was a climb in the mix. We were in the 10:50 start so pretty late and there was still some poor chap on the side of the hill awaiting rescue

Mary evo trail star up front st 28psi
Hans Dampf super gravity also at 28psi

Worked flawlessly for me, even had grip on stage 6 off camber grassy high speed corners, which I though I would struggle with! Never missed a beat

Very enjoyable, did the sport today. Transitions were brutal in some places especially the wind and cheweed up muddy bits. Unsure of how I did in relation to my class yet. Traffic was unbelievable! Felt lots of people were out of their depth. I stayed rubber side up so pleased with that cases the crap out of the small gap on stage (?) so worried about the state of my bike when I clean it! Great weekend though, wish I entered the full enduro now mind

Us virgin ard rockers think too much because of all the stories of punctures we hear. Given the wait and expense I plan to enjoy the ride not fix punctures! So a worthy thread I would suggest 8)

My buddy runs 140 pikes on his, I have ridden it and it’s absolutely fantastic! Feels bottomless, climbs and descends beautifully.

These things happen, mistakes are made and it seems like no one is the winner. The perils of dealing with private individuals and the used market in afraid.

As for contract, good luck enforcing that! I’m sure you wouldn’t be happy, but seems to me to be a reasonable cock up, guess he wasn’t expecting someone to lowball his price by a grand!

Given how hard it was to remove the maxxis he had fitted to them originally I would say it is the rim. I don’t have any issue fitting the schwable tyres to my DT Swiss rims….

As for Maxxis, well horses for courses really ‘init’. I personally am agnostic when it comes to tyres, what ever tyre I believe suits the conditions is what I will fit regardless of make. So for me the ard rock, I wanted super gravity protection over maxxis offerings based off feedback on here and friends. Not sure I would if I ran Enve rims mind!

Ha, well I’m glad they are not mine! Certainly the nail in the coffin for me not buying a set of Enve’s

To be honest it took two of us and some hefty levers. I tried hair dryer etc, never going to happen I’m afraid. It’s without doubt the hardest wheel/tyre combo I have ever used. It really is the next level, I just can’t see what you would do if you punctured.

Took two of us in the end! Those tyres are only coming off by being cut, absolute joke! I have never had such a hard time fitting tyres in my life. God only knows what he is going to do with a puncture. It’s put Me off ever owning Enve rims!

Good luck with that! I broke the beads on two magic marys trying to get them onto some M70’s. In the end I fitted Maxxis again, they are tight but not as bad as a schwalbe.

I am 3 tyre levers down now, the metal downhill levers are winking at me! To be honest if I had shelled out that much money on a set of wheels I would be proper miffed. You have virtually no chance in the workshop so you are goosed out in the wilderness

Not that stupid! Huck Norris fitted as it should be. Tried fairly liquid already. Think I may chuck tyre in oven to warm slightly

So singletrack discount doesn’t work on prescription glasses. But gutted but understandable, looks like another pair of insert glasses for me. Difficult to justify £190 for something I will frankly destroy

Funnily enough i emailed them earlier as i need some new prescription glasses/Sunnies.

Cant see me going back to 650b now. Nothing to do with Fashion either, I just prefer 29ers. That said I dont quanitfy a bike by its wheel size, more over how good it feels to ride. So if i rode something which ticked my boxes like my Jeffsy does then I would buy it. In fact the only thing I dont like about 29ers currently is buzzing my arse on the back tyre, but that’s a technique thing I’m sure.

29″ inside leg is fine on a medium Jeffsy, I am 5’9 with the same inside leg as you so I am very much long in the body. I found the medium Jeffsy 29 perfect for me fit wise. Happy to let you swing a leg over if you are anywhere near Gloucestershire

So after painstakingly panicking and over thinking it. I have plumped for Mary front with either super gravity Razor (if it’s dry) or Hans dampf (if it’s wet)

My buddy is running an aggressor for the event, but exo……

It’s hardpack everywhere pretty much so you will be fine. Be wary mind the surface on many of the runs is lethal in drizzle. Was up there last Sunday and found it pretty dicey and not at all enjoyable

So I purchased a HD super gravity. Which I could only get in trail star in the end. Will use it if it’s mildly moist and RR otherwise.

Kept away from Maxxis as uk stock seem all over the place and I have very little experience of thei DD casing. I have seen countless exo tyres destroyed in the last 6 months so stayed away.

Thing is cookci I should imagine the Ardrock terrain is going to demolish a snakeskin nn

In the end I have ordered a supergrav trail star dampf, I have a rock razor super gravity already so have, I guess somewhere near the right thing….will bring my airshot so I can change the morning of the race if needs be! No doubt it will make little difference and I will drag the bloody draggy things all the way around for them to fail spectacularly on the last stage

I used to have a frame triangle bag back in the day on my first muddy fox. Used to call it a sandwich bag for some reason. Rubbish for storing stuff though really and it wouldn’t fit my GT with the triple triangle….

Anyway back to enduro straps etc

So will that fit a 29er tube, multitool, levers and co2 legend?

    Thanks for the photos.

The weecog role looks great but I am really cautious with any kind of saddle mounted solution as if it in anyway contacts the dropper it’s going to likely cause a problem. Hence looking at the strap solutions.
If I remember I’ll swap the Road Caddy onto the mtb and get some photos. Think it might clear the dropper collar, but only one way to find out….

Thanks would be interested to see

Is it big enough for a tube, multi tools, levers and Co2? Fog?

The piggy thing is great but I don’t have space to fit it on my Jeffsy…

As above rickos, a Velcro strap won’t hold the tools etc securely like the stash straps. Else I would of spent a coupe of quid on one

Thing is Velcro won’t hold the co2, levers etc. I may have a go at making something myself.

As for jerseys etc, i don’t like having all that stuff bouncing away, plus I don’t use jereseys with pockets…. hence the strap idea works for me, just trying to find a neater solution to tape

No you can’t they are out of stock on backcountrys own website….kind of why I’m looking for alternatives really. None of the backcountry or Stash strap products are in stock anywhere, so wondered if there were other options?

Agreed it’s confusing. I know when I rode ebworth to help try and ‘mature’ some of the fresh cut trails ahead of their enduro or xc race (can’t remember which) we found a water bottle…they don’t allow you to post your ride on strava if you enter the race as the land owner gives mean and dirty special access to the land. If they catch unauthorised access then M&D may loose access. Personally I’m not sure why anyone would ride there outside of the race, there is nothing particularly good there
