I only use Strava as a diary, I’m not really interested in the overall times.  I will say it has helped me set distance and climbing goals for the year and has helped push me forward.  So I like it for that reason, for me though chasing KOM is a recipe for disaster and resulting hospital trip so I no longer bother

Hightower Frame for me, just beautifully built.  I just sat looking at it for about 2 hours

Durable enough for me – no point in me paying a weight penalty for all the biffers out there

we worked out in my riding group there have now been in total 7 sets of broken raceface carbon cranks ranging from Sixc to NextR.

i got my money back on the last set.

Strava makes people so angry 😉

seriously though just chill out, It’s a hobby that should be enjoyable and relaxing.  Don’t let other people’s actions ruin your enjoyment and don’t be ‘that person’ who think it’s appropriate to hurt an animal.  It’s not the dogs fault it’s the owners.

Alan, i just sold my jeffsy, To be honest if i had not of just blown my wad on a hightower i would be all over the mid spec Capra right up 29er 160 front and rear…..until i noticed there was no bottle mount. Probably too much bike for me i guess.

The Capra 29 CF is 160 front and rear travel from what i can see?  650b is 170/170  guess the race is slightly longer.  Reach figure looks OK… looks like a price hike as well of around £500 still pretty good value at £3300 for the CF model.  Still looks like too much bike certainly for me anyway

It’s a teaser campaign isn’t it, the official press launch is today…the 8th, the video is part of the build up and the reason they only show small clips of the bike.  It’s weird as hell, done it’s job though.  I applaud YT for doing something different to everyone else.  I’m sure they will publish videos of someone hammering the bike smashing big air later this week!

If that type of video puts you off a brand, god knows what you do for a car!

The point being that it got people talking about the launch of the bike…the video is bizarre but it’s done it’s job! Certainly not a reason to NOT buy a bike though is it Alan

Think the OP has completely missed the point behind this video!!! The very fact it has him ranting about it creating a thread means it’s served it’s purpose!  It’s got me excited to see the close up detail of the 29 Capra! I mean proper excited…unless it has a stupid short reach and shocking BB standard!

I looked at a primer, but if I remember the BBwas some ridiculous press fit rubbish again BB92!!  Plus the lifetime bearing warranty ticked the box for me with the HT.

So, its confession time….I have recently purchased a HT (non LT) and im not getting on with it at all.  Im putting it down to the Monarch shock that came with it!  So im planning on long shocking it with a 57mm stroke shock.  Fitting a Fox X2 so a least i can add the spacer to bring stroke to 51 should that not work.  Im genuinely gutted, geometry feels spot on for me.  Would of liked it a touch slacker.  But compared to my Jeffsy with a coil it just feels harsh and wooden.  Im sure i will get it dialled, but at the moment its like i have met my hero and it turned out the had bad breath.

I had an Andreanni piston kit fitted to some of my old pikes by Jake at Sprung!  Vastly improved my pikes at the time, would love to try them with a luftkappe.

So I now feels a little hen pecked by some of you guys responses. My wife and I only have a joint account, she is generally OK with smaller purchases. But I would ALWAYS ask permission for big ones now, got caught out hiding stuff from her in the past which really upset her and broke her trust. She is very careful with money and I am a complete bit of a mess with it, so I know she is just doing it for the better of the family. I have recently been awarded some holiday vouchers at work which will save us a significant amount of savings so I’m going to broach the subject of new wheels again. Usually wouldn’t be a problem had she not just authorised the purchase of a Santa Cruz Hightower frame. Taking her away this weekend to a swanky hotel so will deploy litres of prosecco to ‘relax’ the situation

FOD off piste today was absolutely vial! But think that must be the constant rain and temperature rather than the trail condition. I only ever rode the waymarked trails at cwmcarn and only ever it seems in the pissing rain. Always held up well

I must admit I had avoided posting this on here, as it was not my place having known Lee but not as a close friend. Our local cycling community is in shock. Lee was an inspiration to many and a great guy. It was obvious via facebook that he had been deeply troubled of late. The world is a slightly poorer place, I hope ultimately he has gone to a happier place. Ride on Lee

    Paul,
I’m finsing the same thing. I’m running 300psi at 86kg. To get 25-28% sag. Unsure of spacers yet, but suggest it’s empty so will likely start playing with them this week…or buy another coil shock

P-Jay is right. VW slutted out golf R’s a few years ago which meant every man and his dog had one! I would have no problem at all buying a repo. Most repossessions are ‘non aggressive’ repossessions nowadays where the only is happy to get the car gone due to financial hardship. Wouldn’t have a problem buying either a hand back or hostile repo if the car all added up

A pcp agreement is just a regulated finance agreement of sorts so VT (voluntary termination) or halves and thirds rule as it was also known is nothing new it’s a consumer rightbthats been in place for ages. Hell dealerships encourage it to get you to change your car earlier !

This exact question was asked last week! Some good answer there so that would be the first place I search if I were you. I can give some guidance as I work in the industry. I bought my wife’s car from a dealer cheaper than I could through a car auction without the associated risks. Buyer fees as a private will be expensive. Happy to offer some guidance if you need it But I would start with the previous thread first

Just finished my second bike. couple of things I have learned.
    1) Do it somewhere with loads of space i commandeered the dining room make sure the heating is on!
    2) take your time
    3) Use loads of water with a splash of baby shampoo
    4) make sure you degrease and clean everything with a lint free rag
    5) if it starts becoming a pain STOP and come back
    6) Dont rush to build the bike up when its done. i left mine for a few days and kept working the “water blisters” out. I kept it in the dining room and eventually it all sorted itself out i would say its an 8/10 job almost as good as a factory fitted job.

Another tip i wouldn’t bother doing it to a bike that’s already been ridden, i got excited with my last bike (before my new one) and rode it on a dry summers day before my invisframe kit turned up. You will never get the bike clean enough to stop crap getting underneath the tape

I love the idea of a uk based company making suspension upgrades liek the Luftkappe. Its a great little bit of kit and i desperately want another for my new forks but always wince at the £70 especially as they are bought over from Canada so the cost could be cheaper int he uk.

Got to say Orange internal routing is a joke and not thought out at all.

I know haters gotta hate, but having just built up my new Hightower, Santa Cruz have it down perfectly for me. Where it’s internal there is no faf (rubber grommet aside) just push in the cable and out it pops, actually easier than external! No cable ties to worry about.

I do like the external brake hose mind as no need to worry about olives, bleeding etc.

YT’s warranties (3 year) are transferable as far as I know, and they do a reasonably price 29er…..

It’s original owner only I’m afraid.

So I have not VT’d a car myself, but i do work (very) closely with this process…

So you will not have any black mark placed against you if you VT a vehicle. Its a consumer right and one which is actively used nowadays (ah PCP’s the saviour and now the cancer of the motortrade) I would say however that if you utilised the same lender and VT several vehicles they may take a dim view. But its highly unlikely they will decline you for utilisation of your right as a consumer.

In terms of vehicle condition, your finance company would look for you to return the car in line with BVRLA fair wear and tear guidelines: https://www.bvrla.co.uk/advice/guidance/returning-your-leased-vehicle

They will have a cost matrix setup for damage recharge so if the car is a nail be prepared as some will pursue you for recharge….others wont.
