So the balloon payment is called a “guaranteed future value” or GFV.  It’s marketing spiel basically.  It’s what you owe if you want to buy the car.  It’s also what’s needed to be settled as part of a part exchange deal.  You are not locked into new cars, if you want to switch to used it’s simple, the garage will call the finance company for a full and final settlement and take it from there.

In terms of trade in valuation, I’m happy to help you if you want a completely impartial valuation.  I suspect though if you have used autotrader or Parker’s you will be WAY off the valuation, especially if your car does not have certain options such as sat nav.  Drop me a PM if you want some assistance or guidance, 18 years in the trade including selling pcp’s, running dealership sales and now working for the worlds largest auction company! Happy to help a Singletrack user so you are informed when doing into the dealership.

I had thought about it, if only because I have experience of dealing with epoxy and carbon and have a load of epoxy still within date.  However in the end I asked. CRC for my money back.  If I had of bought them used then 100% I would glue them

I’m a massive coil fan, but decided against it on my Hightower build.  Fitted an X2 to my Hightower and it transformed the bike!  The monarch was absolutely tripe!  X2 made it a different bike completely!

I’m starting to get  more than a little fed up with it! I can cope with mud, but it’s been ridiculous for a while now.  Keep telling myself it’s going to mean a fab summer…reality is likely to be otherwise I’m sure!

I got my money back when my 3rd set of Sixc failed with the same pedal insert issue.  Great cranks when working.  But too fragile I’m afraid.

As a previous SRAM Hater…I’m converted!  I love my Eagle set up, its not perfect and has the usual SRAM Foibles but its much better than the latest 11 speed Shimano set ups.  In fact for me the lest iteration of Shimano kit is somewhat underwhelming.  There was no competition back in the 9 & 10 speed days but i really think Shimano have lost the plot of late.

If you have a spare hour you can have mine for free. It fell off somewhere around the Dowies area of the FOD last summer…probably mouldy as **** by now!  I couldn’t find the thing, but to be honest it fell off enough for me not to want the thing back.  No matter how tight I did the bolts up I found it useless

Thing is, how many folks actually race enduro, or regularly ride the kind of terrain these bikes excel on

how many roadies race the TDF?  Nothing wrong with people being slightly “overbiked” not in my opinion anyway.  For me a mid/long travel 29er with 36’s 160mm travel front and burley build means I can just have the one bike for several disciplines trail riding, Enduro racing and no need for a separate downhill bike!

On not stickers??? But part of the construction?  So basically under the clear coat?

thanks for the video link!  This is my favourite…

I nearly went for Blue Flow wheels as the warranty and more importantly the crash replacement seemed good.  Sixth element just looked vastly over priced given they were Chinese imported rims with posh stickers.  Or have I got it completely wrong??? Went for flows on hope in the end.

I’m buying the uberbike ones with stainless bearings once they release the eagle specific ones later next month.

XD drive is far superior in my opinion (and it is just an opinion) to Shimanos splined system.  Also I don’t find Eagle faffy to set up, my only issue has been with a loose jockey wheel all now sorted!

Scrap that i have my problem sussed!!!  It appears the top Jockey wheel retaining bolt has come undone!!  God knows how its all still there!  You can see from the images!  Not sure how that has happened. There is thread lock on the bolts!  hopefully thats fixed it for me

See thats the thing.  I dont have play in my Jockey wheels and the bearings are fine.  I also dont have a Narow wide top jockey wheel? Just the lower.  I have found that if there almost appears to be enough space for the chain to fall off the top jockey wheel and get caught by the cage (see photos) i can imagine with excessive bearing play this will be lethal as the gap will widen.  I think i’m going to order some uberbike eagle jockey wheels as soon as they are in stock.  Will chase them up now.

I don’t think my issue is anything to do with bearing wear…so to speak it’s that the chain can fall off the jockey wheel into the gap between the teeth and the cage.  I see uberbike are making eagle replacement jockey wheels with ceramic bearings soon anyway

There are a few blind bearings which i used a slide hammer to remove.  It was an easy job, but then i have the tools at my disposal from previous bikes.  The hardest to remove were the bearings on the rear seat stays

    As above!

Buy a bizango or Bokor from Halfords then take to your favourite bike shop and pay them to screw it together if you can’t do it yourself.  By far and away much better value and bikes than the other you have listed! Or as others have said buy from cycle republic not Halfords.

I looked at LB rims Northwind but your right the cost and for me hassle meant I couldn’t be bothered.  I had broken a LB 650b rim previously (cracked at spoke nipple) the cost vs accessibility suits me.  To be honest I’m fed up with broken stuff of late, having a bad time of it of late.

So after my latest wheel tacho debacle (after buying new forks and shock same month I wasn’t banking on such an early upgrade) I was pondering what to buy.  Either blue flow carbons, Santa Cruz reserve or hope on flows.  I chose the later built up locally by Mboy.  Just because I’m sick of breaking stuff.  I am very hard on wheels and the weight saving benefit was soon outweighed with reliability.  To be honest I’m chuffed with my mk3 flow on pro4 build and can firmly recommend Mboy as a wheel builder in the midlands/south west.

So i’m now having an issue with my GX mech, basically the chain is jumping off the top jockey wheel.  Especially when its muddy.  Whats the recommended fix?  not sure its a warranty issue just yet?  I have been having some shifting issues of late.

Any easy bodges or advice?  i really dont want to have the mech implode on me!

I got to say I have been somewhat disappointed with the last few monarchs I have had.  The HV fitted to my Jeffsy was ‘OK’ but it’s not until you fit a descent quality shock that you realise how much better it made the bike.

My latest bike came with a standard Monarch RCT3,  can’t remember what tune but Whatever OEM was specified for the frame, it was awful!  Shock worked perfectly well, no issues just felt wooden and awful. No matter what you did with reduced bands and air pressure.  Just awful!

Roads are clear, I rode there today.  Place was deserted and there was a couple of inches of snow everywhere.  But it was infinitely rideable!  In fact the ground under the snow wasn’t frozen so there was surprisingly tonnes of grip!  Bloody good ride in fact!

I have just upgraded to 36 Factory forks.  Noticed the extra stiffness (and weight) over my pikes.  They sit higher in their travel which I prefer and have the correct amount of dials to keep a tweaked like me happy.  That said a luftkappe fitted pike was a damn good fork and my buddy loves his lyrik

The classifieds here has died a death since the forum updates.  Pinkbike is just hard work with a load of kids and eBay is  rediculously priced with zero seller protection! Really struggle selling bike stuff on facebook.  Just too many morons!  I still preserve with STW, but largely nowadays I sit on kit or give it away.

So I am pretty much bang on the same height as you.  I purchased a Jeffsy CF 29 last year, out of the box it was absolutely fantastic.  I used it for everything.  Enduro racing, Uplift, all day XC epics.  Just a fantastic bike.  I wouldn’t say the Geo is outdated, just its a little short in terms of reach.  I rode a medium by the way.

I actually “upgraded” to a SC Hightower earlier this year as i was offered a blinding deal on a frameset.  Initially i was massively disappointed with the hightower.  Its a stunning looking bike beautifully finished.  Let down completely by the standard Monarch shock.  Which, in the politest way possible.  Is a POS….Since upgrading the Shock to an X2 the bike is fantastic, but no way £££ better than the Jeffsy.  The slightly shorter reach didn’t really bother me.  I upgraded my Jeffsy with coil shock, offset bushes to slacken it and raised the fork to 150.  Which made it so capable.

One point for consideration is the YT comes with stupid PF92 BB and supplied with 30mm cranks.  If you buy one, sell the OEM 30mm cranks straight away and fit a 24mm BB and standard axle crankset….That is if you want at least a summers worth of riding out of the BB,

I have a 2 month old pair of boost 29/27.5+ pikes with 140mm travel for sale!  Just upgraded to 36’s PM me if you are interested.  (Sorry shameless plug)

There seems to be some confusion here over a bloody spanner!! I was pointing out I own a hope 30mm external Bb spanner for use with hope BB when an earlier poster mentioned you needed a specialist tool.

The works headset sounds like its worth a go once my hope/raceface hybrid dies

I would suggest if you ride where I do the Mary is probably the most common front tyre.  You don’t get much rootier than the FOD.

Onzadog, i have the 30mm Hope spanner.  Their 24mm version is a standard external BB size.

So Lornholio, we are on the same page i think..  I had some spare hope stainless bearings.  just cleaned them and repacked with grease then pressed into the raceface BB shell.  Its like new and will no doubt get me through the summer now.

Will keep an eye out for other options but will likely end up with another hope BB will take a look at the works version mind!

I think its a great idea.  Custom Geo built in the UK is how i read it and the Factory, is built in just that a “factory” £1800 with a shock seemed reasonable to me, some nice design features.  I am going to try and get a go on one this year.

That was what i was trying to say, got my ?? confused with !!.  For me the Mary is the best all year round front tyre.  90% of my riding is wet roots!

Magic mary is pretty good on wet roots??  In my experience and you dont get much damper and rootier than the FOD!

THink you are missing the point here buddy.  Mud, short and Enduro doesn’t really say what type of terrain you are riding.  Where in the UK are you riding mostly?  Are you racing Enduro? if so what series would be a clue?  For me the Magic Mary is the best all round front tyre. I pair it with either a Hans Dampf and Rock Razor.  But I do find the HD packs up on some of the sticky forest mud trails i ride in the FOD.  Mainly when yo cant get enough speed to clear it.  My tyre OCD wont allow me to run two different tyre makes so i find its the best compromise.

It looks like i will shell out for another hope BB (had them on my old Oranges) so still have the spanner, albeit its round a friends.

Where are you riding and what sort of trails?  Mud terrain isn’t very descriptive when it comes to MTB trails.  Personally I can’t comment on the Kenda just year (will be trying soon as heard great things) but can on Mary and Dampf.  I find it a great alround combo, but it depends massively on where you ride!!
