Stainforth Force good. Lots of potential for diving/jumping.

Also, not Yorkshire, but still North, the best pace I’ve wild swam is Blackmoss Pot in the Lakes. Awesome.

Thanks, original plan would be to drive up to the Col the day before the race comes through with supplies (cheese, wine, saucison, baguette) and then bivvy up there, trip down the chairs into Les Gets or Morzine the morning of the next day for brekkie, back up watch the race then either stay and bivvy again or head off after the race has gone through depending on how many of us have indulged.

Though this being the penultimate day I guess they may stop people from driving up earlier than the day before.

Thanks chaps. It is a mountain stage so if worst comes to worst I guess we could park up in/near Les Gets and get a chair up to the Col. I assume the chairs will be running for MTBers anyway.

I did Isle of Dogs to Bath via the Ridgeway over 3 days back in the nineties. Day 1 – Isle of Dogs to Henley via the Thames path, Grand Union Canal then some road bits. Day 2 – Henley to Avebury – Henley to Goring via road then over the Ridgeway to Avebury. Day 3 – Avebury to Bath, road to Devizes then the Kennet and Avon Canal.

I was shagged by the end of it. But I look back on it very fondly now.

There’s some kind of six year european warranty on electricals. John Lewis I reckon would honour it. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1719963

Where did you buy it from? If Apple they’ll repair it for free. So I’d probably go for the Genius Bar.

@ScottChegg – are they any good though, once you have them set up? I’m tempted by one myself, but only the £500 jobby.

    Doing it right now.

Through terrace and back to back so we’re ending up with an L shape. You do NOT need planning permission to make two dwellings into one. You DO need planning permission to split them back up again. You do need building regs though, but only so you can sell in the future.

Services are easy to hook up, don’t let anyone tell you it’s hard. You’ll need to get revalued by the council, again, easy.

Towergate insurance are good for insuring when you’re two houses, but kinda one.

Make sure you open up walls properly so you don’t end up with some kinda crazy warren; we’re tearing the stairs out from next door.

All the best; scariest and most exciting thing we’ve done – well worth it.

CitizenM London Bankside. Good value, modern, funky hotel. Stones throw from Tate Modern. London Bridge and Waterloo tube close by. Close to Borough Market. Good boozers. Boris Bike stand very close.

Is the iPod an iPod Touch? If so, could you simply install airfoil on it, and then it effectively becomes a bluetooth speaker.

No excess on glass on most insurance policies. Obtain a ‘stone’ chip which develops into a crack.

    Yes. Done bacon.

The thing that’s difficult with bacon is that really you need to use saltpetre. If you don’t you really just get salted pork belly. The saltpetre changes the structure of the meat, salt just, well, salts it.

As for the pancetta, I’m not sure, although hams do kinda look moldy. The key is to cure in a dry area.

One thing to bear in mind is that electronics are now covered by some kind of 6 year warranty taking into account wear and tear but the agreement is with the retailer you bought it from. Apple rarely quibble this, I had my 5yr old iMac’s superdrive replaced FoC by Apple under this agreement no questions asked.

I suspect the other retailers may not be quite so accommodating.

EDIT – that’s online as well as instore and it does cover the Apple refurbed stuff too. (My iMac was a refurb).

Get a dishwasher cleaning tablet and run it with one of those in. They are excellent at cleaning out all the old grease from the washer and the drain.

I stayed in a hostel in Capetown in 2000. It, the hostel, and Capetown were absolutely fine. I can only imagine things have got much better since then as well. They’ll be fine.

EDIT: In fact I felt less safe in Amsterdam. Would you let her stay in a hostel in Amsterdam?

HUGE over reaction. Just explain to your child that some people believe and some don’t and some people believe other things entirely. Each is entitled to their opinion. Did the minister baptise them against their will? All my kids have gone to a CoE school and as have believed as small kids, they’ve grown up, formed their own opinions and are now happy. Firing off an email? All that that will have done is flagged you as one of those parents.

There are a couple of loose groups riding from Otley. Generally 40ish year old blokes, ranging from 1 or 2 hour forays on the chevin to bigger rides in the summer. Focus on fun rather than STRAVA and fitness. No one gets left behind. Often end in the pub.
