Brilliant cookers. We have a newer Mercury 1000 (about 6 years old now). Bombproof. As midlifecrashes says no fancy stuff. Older ones have awesome pan supports.

You did the right thing and acted. Many people would not have done and would have waited for someone else to take action. Sounds like CPR wouldn’t have helped anyway with a bleed that big.

    You did the right thing.

Generally just me. I reckon 250g a week. Depends very much on how much I’m working from home.

Check your insurance. This is quite often covered with no excess or effect on no claims.

Get some decent painkillers and mix your fix (paracetemol and ibuprofen at the same time).

I had mine done on a Thursday. Friday, I drove (about 40 miles in total) and wandered, gingerly, around an architectural reclamation place.

I had massive black and blue knackers mind and had to be careful getting in and out of the car etc.

It was sore but not unbearable.

Make sure you take the opportunity to rely on your partner. Booze helps an awful lot.

    Use this number – 0161 931 9070.

Shorter queue, more knowledgable and pleasant staff. Give it a ring, explain the problems. Has worked out well for me in the past.

Result! Even if the Russians nuke Menwith Hill, Skipton is OK. Harrogate, not so much…

I’ve been told that Menwith Hill is pretty much one of the safest, non-nukeable, places in the UK. Don’t know how, but that’s what I was told.

Check out the Fabulous Baker Brothers 9 hour pulled pork recipe and their pitta bread too. Best ‘slaw recipes I’ve used are in the Pitt Cue book.

Dunno about yours, but why would a Thomas Cook A330 have just hopped from Finningley to Brize, there isn’t an all inclusive in Burford is there?

Charter probably cheaper than their own passenger jets, or maybe they are buying a few more A330s secondhand.[/quote]

This one’s being going backwards and forwards between Brize and Donny since yesterday. Was converted from a tanker to civilian usage last year. Perhaps something has gone wrong with it?

One Friday afternoon in August we were sat outside the Northern Monk brewery in Leeds which is under the flight path for LBA. And I kid you not, about 10 of these went over, one every 10-20 minutes or so. No idea whether the same plane or not.

Because if you open the forum thread in a new tab, by right clicking for example, then it’s fine to leave that tab.

I had no doubt that STW logic would prevail.

And I get sarcasm too. Haven’t met the bloke who invented that though.

That’s what the ‘back’ button is for.

I know how to work the world wide web. I’ve met the make who invented it. He was a bit of a knob tbh.

That’s exactly why they do it, IMO.

Eh? They direct people off the site to generate advertising from the site? Or are you saying that more is generated from a hit to the site from elsewhere, i.e. via a back button click? If so, that would make much more sense.

Fair enough, preferences being what they are.

I just don’t get in what circumstance you would want to leave the site completely by following a link from within a forum thread. To me, the default for links from within the threads themselves should be a new tab thing.

Surely that keeps more traffic on the site, more in terms of potential advertising revenue etc etc. Rather than click a link and leave the site altogether.

Or right click and open in new tab.

Yes, I know how to do it. But quite often forget as the standard for this kind of thing everywhere else is to open a new tab if moving off site.

    First world problems, I know.

We did it in the field at the back of our house. We just asked the land agent for permission, and he agreed. We hired in some teepees, loos, hog roast and pizza. The tipi people organised the bar and generator. No need for the field to have an actual booze license, they’re easy to get. In terms of actually getting hitched we did that in the local church and walked back.

@DezB “The fire alarm is about to be tested, please take no further action”, followed by the fire alarm? Unless security get it the wrong way round like they did this week. Alarm first, everyone gets up to leave, then, 3 minutes later, “The fire alarm is about to be tested, please take no further action”. Muppets.

I tend to find that looking after them is better than splashing loads of cash. Though if you do buy an expensive one you’re more likely to look after it. My Blok, bought quite a few years back now so not as expensive as they currently are by a long shot, is well looked after as a result of it’s expense. Granted I could have bought something a lot cheaper, and probably better, but just fancied one as a treat to myself.

I’ve never heard of Eden but have heard good things about Victorinox.

@rockhopper yes, value wise they did. But when you consider a record might cost anywhere upto £100 (for a big old boxset) and a download just 99p it’s quite easy for that to happen. In terms of numbers downloads still sold more than vinyl, just that they are cheaper so made less.

Does Record Collector magazine still exist? If so I’d be going through my collection and picking out any rarities for sale to specialists. The rest I’d just try and move as a job lot.

I have two pairs. One from 2012 and one from earlier this year. The 2012 pair have been repaired twice and the repairs are brilliant. So much better than Nudie (who offer free repairs too) and people like The Denim Doctor.

I’ve been to the factory a few times and I’d say the price point is about right for the quality of denim used and the craftsmanship that goes into them.

I’ve been a bit of a denim geek for a long time now and have subscribed to the no wash philosophy in the past, I’m not too sure now, I think that perhaps not washing increases wear as the fabric doesn’t soften up as much and therefore creates more crotch blow out. I’m not suggesting washing every week but the 2 years plus some of my pairs have done perhaps is a bit much.

They’re worth the money I reckon and the customer service is absolutely second to none.

I dabble a bit in hand drawn typography – https://vimeo.com/173668610. Love a bit of serif action. Why don’t you just draw it? Surely using a tech drawing set it’ll not look hand drawn.

Depending on your age and time available I’d have a look at some of the truck tour companies. Absolutely the best holidays I’ve ever had. Awesome scenery, interesting travelling companions, good food, booze, cheap etc etc. We went in our twenties, there were a few ‘older’ people on ours, so if you are ‘older’ I reckon it’s just a state of mind.
