Interestingly I spent quite a bit of time dicking about at night on the fields between Bathwick Hill and Widcombe Hill in Bath, sitting out watching the night time city. We saw similar lights hovering above the city on more than one occasion. How strange.

LBG shares. Dividends due to be announced shortly. As such I expect share prices to climb considerably. Shares can go down as well as up blah blah blah.

Allotmentists often want concrete slabs for making paths. Put up some notices on your local allotment notice boards?

Google the video. Incredibly easy using a Stanley knife blade. Amazingly no need to bleed. Which I didn’t quite understand.

A little known thing in email address that you can create ‘mulitple’ addresses on one address by adding +nnn to the address, so I have russianbon+iphone@email.com and russianbob+imac@email.com and russianbob+ipad@email.com. Then I can set each device to respond to their individual calls, but I only need to have one itunes account – russianbob@email.com.

I realise I haven’t explained this very well. SOrry.

I have a Kid Comfort 3 that we no longer use. It is definitely used though but still does what it needs to do. Whereabouts are you based? You could have it for £50 or make me a reasonable offer having seen it.

Going clockwise, if you hang a right on the ‘n’ of Crookside Barn you’ll do the Beast descent, very rocky, very fun, you can then hook back up with the loop at Hagg Farm. I’d also be tempted to extend North and do an out and back, at least to the top, on Cut Gate. Other than that, it’s a pretty good loop.

Never tried Crosstrax. Chevin are pretty poor in my opinion, very unattentive staff unless you’re spending a bunch. Stif have always been brilliant with me, friendly staff, knowledgable etc. All Terrain pretty good too.

WHite Hart is the other one that jambalaya suggests in the back streets. Does get fairly busy though as it’s a decent pub near Waterloo. The Ring always looks quite quiet whenever I go past, but never been in. To be honest on a week night they all get fairly busy round there. You might be better off with Leon at the Blue Fin Building.

Use fresh yeast. You can get it from supermarket bakery counters, you have to ask for it though.

    560g Strong White Flour
    10g Fresh yeast
    10g salt
    20g rapeseed/olive oil
    300ml tepid water.

Knead for 15mins by hand or 10mins in a mixer.

Leave to prove in a covered bowl for 30mins to an hour. Take out of bowl and shape/place in oiled loaf tin. Cover with oiled cling film and leave to prove for further 30mins. Turn oven to 230deg C with baking stone/tray in. When up to temperature put oven dish with water at top of oven, this will provide steam. Put loaf tin/loaf onto baking stone/tray, slash with sharp knife/lame. Bake for 22 mins.

    Enjoy.

Noticed this week that some of the guys I ride with have crafted a boot of sorts out of an old inner tube. Mine came today so might look at doing it, just trying to figure out best hose route and best remote position.

Amendments to the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006

2.—(1) The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006(1) are amended as follows.

    (2) In regulation 7—

    (a)after paragraph (1) insert—
“(1A) Subject to paragraph (2), leave of absence shall not be granted unless—

(a)an application has been made in advance to the proprietor by a parent with whom the pupil normally resides; and
    (b)the proprietor, or a person authorised by the proprietor in accordance with paragraph (1), considers that leave of absence should be granted due to the exceptional circumstances relating to that application.”;

Exceptional circumstances, decided by the proprietor (the head teacher). My head is exercising common sense. The new legislation is to stop people taking the piss. It is by no means out of the school’s hands.

Nobby – It clearly says that the decision lies with the head teacher, but the that fine is enforced by the local authority. Only UNAUTHORISED absences will be fined, so it absolutely IS in the hands of the school. If a head teacher authorises the absence you’ll be dandy, I’m aware that this is only supposed to be authorised in ‘exceptional’ circumstances, but it’s still within the gift of the head teacher to decide whether such a request is ‘exceptional’ or not. My point is, that if you don’t ask, you don’t get. But if you don’t get, you respect that decision.

You say you’ve been in school lately, you work in education then do you? Or you just know a few teachers?
