You’re doing it the wrong way. The wind will kill you. Did it in one go on a 2013 Genesis CdF a two years ago with no training. It was fine, although the section before Gargrave (going West to East) was horrible for quite a few kilometres and then another section after Silsden I think. Limestone baby heads. I remember wishing I’d brought painkillers – my back was knackered.

I just ordered my voucher last week after a lot of research/phone calls about our scheme (Halfords Cycle2Work).

What I have found out contradicts a bit of the above….

    – You don’t need to buy a full RRP bike, in fact you can even buy an ex-demo.
    – Being in a higher tax bracket most definitely saves you more off the cost of the bike.
    – You effectively pay nothing at the end. Our scheme is a 12 month one – you pay the full price of the bike over 12 months through salary sacrifice, less tax (40%) and NI (1%). At the end of the 12 months, Halfords offer three options. One of which is an extended hire agreement for another 3 years, at NO COST, at which point HMRC deem the residual value of the bike to be negligible and you pay 0 tax on in after the extended period.

Upshot is I get a £1500 bike for £796.50 (our org gives you a 10% discount up front). And no one gives a monkeys what you actually use it for.

I’m disappointed. I like Apple products and was hoping for a simple ruggedised watch rather than this behemoth as have been holding off a normal Apple Watch for fear of smashing it in normal everyday life – diy, riding, walking around etc.

Went in 2019 on both the Saturday and Sunday with my then 9 year old daughter who isn’t really into biking. We had a blast, at no time was there any boredom or want to do other things. Time did not drag.

If you get there early enough it’s good to walk up to the big step up after the canon (this was as far as they would allow spectators), you can cross the course and get a brilliant view of the step up and the next 2/3 features. Watch practise then start ambling down. We were down in the ‘arena’ for the train which happened just before lunch, then made our way back up to the hip for final runs and walked down again.

Spectacular. Riders very accessible. Danny Mac signing autographs, lots of people signing after the podium.

    Have a great day.

These seem like the most ridiculous indulgences, especially on this forum where people tend to favour sustainability and other progressive causes.

Are you one of these new Libertarian types?

    – Brexit is great, no one said it would be an instant improvement, there’ll be some hard work but it will be amazing.
    – Climate change is a grift to line the pockets of the elite and impose control over the populace.
    – CoViD restrictions were put in place to initiate the Great Reset, break world economies and install a powerful elite with the ability to control a populace made docile through the distibution of a mandatory vaccine.
    – Freedom of speech, I should be able to say what I want without other people getting offended. I am entitled to my opinion.
    – It’s my money, I should decide what charities I want to support. I shouldn’t be forced to support other people who cannot be bothered to work.
    – All these lefties whining on about climate and brexit. What a bunch of snowflakes. I need to point out that they are massive hypocrites at every opportunity.

    Just asking.

    In true singletrack fashion…

I have been using Mous Limitless cases for our iPhones for 5 years or so. They are a bit pricy I think but they are brilliant protection wise, come with free high quality screen protectors, don’t make your phone too bulky and are even more brilliant from a customer service point of view…

I first used one on an iPhone X, it failed after about 2 years (a split between the front and the back), took photo, sent to Mous, new case in post the next day. I’ve just done this on a case for my daughters SE too – same response, new case in post next day.

When I got my new phone I ordered the wrong size case by mistake – entirely my fault. Sent a mail, new case in post next day, no charge, told me to keep the old case and give it away as a gift.

All our phones have been dropped at one time or another and have been all good. Youngest dropped hers on the way to Scouts on Monday and from the sound of it I was sure the screen had gone – not a scratch.

    Can’t really recommend highly enough.

All these have been ordered via the Mous site directly, not sure whether the CS experience would be the same from Amazon etc.

    As above, that’s a lot of soil/weight….

Get rid of the wooden thing and plant some trees in the lawn at the bottom of the drop. They’ll act as an excellent safety barrier. There might be some going free on another thread.

Thanks for the tips. Getting out at the caravan park end was always touch and go, even on foot. Alderwasley park was going to be my second option. We’ll be riding in so no worries with parking.

howies isn’t there anymore. Hasn’t been for years.

The Pizza Tipi in Cardigan is brilliant, Bara Menyn for bread/cake and just down the road the new gin bar from the guys at In The Welsh Wind – not sure if their place at the Gogerdan Arms is open at present, but if it is you can go and make your own gin.

Further South Barafundle Bay is well worth the walk over from Stackpole Quay. Second Marloes as a brilliant beach. Blue Lagoon is great. Porth Clais harbour consistently brilliant for catching crabs. TYF in St Davids does a whole load of activities such as coasteering.

    Lovely part of the world.

Just had a go for the first time.

In your representations what do the grey squares and xs mean?

I assume a grey square is incorrect and a x is correct.

How do you represent the right letter, wrong place?

But im sure there’s something else that fits just as well in the argument of freedom of choice as opposed people being forced to comply with something they profoundly disagree with.

I’m sure there is another quote. Isn’t the point that you shouldn’t just buy the first thing that turns up on a Google search though?

I don’t agree with mandated vaccines. I do subscribe to the view that there are consequences for actions and inactions. There is choice. There is freedom.

I would like to know why people “profoundly disagree” with vaccination, I suspect it’s just their opinion, to which they are entitled, and they have done their own research (first hit on google that matches my thought) etc etc. I have heard some doozies; microchips, New World Order, mind control, movement tracking, the great reset, untested vaccines, messes with DNA, 100,000s dying from vaccine but not being reported, big tech/big government/big pharma and now erosion of freedom and the rise of the Fourth Reich… Always getting a little less fanciful, always getting a little more believable, where more and more seemingly normal people get sucked in.

All opinions, but very harmful, especially to the vulnerable and desperate.

“You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant.” – Harlan Ellison.

“The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. In this way, the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed. -Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf”

Not in Mein Kampf, not Hitler. Which just goes to show what utter claptrap you guys are being sucked into.

It reminds me of a particularly moronic comment Jeremy Corbyn once made when he claimed that the term “stupid woman” was sexist and misogynist.

No. He called Theresa May a stupid woman. It was others that claimed he was being sexist and misogynist.

I’m not a dentist, nor do I drive an Audi.

    After sales/warranty care from Santa Cruz/Jungle/Stif is absolutely bloody brilliant and, in my opinion, worth the premium;

    – Raceface crankset failed on my Bronson after two years, brand new carbon crankset provided.
    – Swing arm cracked on 2008 Heckler in 2013, brand new swing arm within a week, no questions asked. – Provided with demo bike to use after I had ordered my Bronson prior to it being built and delivered.

I also don’t know of any undertakers who have expressed an increase of workload.

I don’t know any undertakers but my brother in law works as a probate executive for a firm of solicitors. While most of the firm were fuloughed/laid off he was kept on because probate was so busy due to the number of people dying.

Going back decades but The Holly Bush used to be well regarded food wise. Bikewise with kids – train to Ambergate from Duffield (although this would mean cycling along the A6 for a km) then along the Cromford Canal and back. There are boats and pedalos at Belper river gardens. Crich Stand and the Tramway museum a bit further afield.

Might not be gnarr enough but…

From Tideswell to Litton, then into Cressbrook Dale. South to Cressbrook. Cross the river and East along Monsal Trail through the tunnels. Pub at junction with Monk’s Dale. Then either up the Limestone Way and back into Tideswell (about 8 miles total), or carry on along Monsal Trail then pick up the PBW and head back to Tideswell that way (about 12 miles total).

So the cheque is neither made out to the name on the account (C F Ace) or the full name which is associated with the account (Mr Cake Face Ace) but an entirely different name (Face Ace).

    Common surname/forename/middle name?

It’s only in the last couple of years that banks have started to associate Account Names to Account Numbers – in fact some banks haven’t yet done this, but Halifax hve – which may be why you are seeing an issue now when in the past there hasn’t been one and why your dad might piss himself.

End of the day, it’s more secure.

I bought a Diablo and a MaxxD earlier this year. MaxxD is AMAZING. Diablo is ok but battery life seems pretty short and is out lit by the MaxxD so you have to get used to turning it on only when needed.

Won’t that be fine with a seatpost properly inserted? Would only get worse/disconnect if you had the seatpost only inserted to above the bulge.
