They could move to somewhere that there’s no Radio devices, Electricity? forget about it as the passage of electrons down a wire generates a magnetic field around it, hmm how do we go about generating a radio signal? … Move to the middle of nowhere, no radio, no electricity, hmm that big yellow thing in the sky? ooo it pumps out all kinds of stuff….

The whole point is to bring out into the open that there are a broad spectrum of devices also pumping out RF that their tinfoil club hasn’t thought about, because it hasn’t what could be considered as a typical antenna.

Do they go around flouncing at the mere presence of a 5 year old microwave oven that has not had an annual/regular microwave leakage test done on it??

Its like the cretins who protest against a mobile mast near to them but continue to use their phones, blithely unaware that the device next to them is ramping up its power because the nearest mast is further away. Inverse-Square law…

Oh yes, the fun we could have describing RF burns (been there) and the amazing properties of a Tornado radar at ground level full power into a local field (paging Col)

There was a UK doc where they got a pile of these ‘sensitive people’ stuck them in a stately home in the middle of nowhere well beyond any mobile coverage at the time. Wheeled an event mobile mast into the front courtyard and told them it was operating at full power, after two days they were genuinely hospitalising people. It was a shame there was no power to it at all.. and for the second week when it was ‘switched off’ the onsite doctor no longer had any visitors or need to refer anyone.

Has she banned the use of Microwave ovens yet? Have you dared tell her what frequency that operate on?

Another satisfied 3T owner here, regular OS updates have been a big plus for me, no crapware, solid phone with no lag, as previously said the fingerprint scanner works really quickly, to the point where I’m bloody annoyed with my S7 Edge I have for for work.

Dash charge is nice but you can still use the USB-C cable on a normal charger if needed so no probs there and less bloody fiddly plugging the cable in on the phone as its a more robust connector.

Oreo has been out on Beta for a number of months on the 3 and the 5 so it’ll arrive pretty soon with their track record to date on delivering updates being miles ahead of anyone else.

Yes its slippy without a case, but that comment can be pointed at so many devices more so the glass backed ones.

When I was a NOC duty manager on a nightshift I’d be given a 6-12inch pile of CV’s to sort thru then I would mark em up for a first interview or not, sorting the typical agency crud out. Knowing that there was a 1 in 4 chance I would interview them or that I would be interviewing ones marked up by my peers. First thing I would have in mind would I have them on my shift? If so then most likely they’d get on with the other shifts too.

Sod the tests, in most cases 15-30 mins having a good read of the CV concerned beforehand will set you up for your questions specific for that individual, if they have said they have a particular skill then test them, not to the n’th degree but enough to identify BS, look for gaps, what were they doing for that 18 months missing etc.. Got a pile of those CBT test type certs, have they any real world to back those up and so on.

Then there is nothing worse as a candidate for a role going into an interview and being tested rote questions by someone that has not prepared beforehand, would you work for some muppet or org like that? Part of the interview is selling your business to a prime candidate, so be bloody professional.

Lastly and this it bloody important MAKE PLENTY OF NOTES this is even more important for someone you discount as you have to make sure of not falling foul or even having a taint of discrimination.

The contract is between you and the retailer, not you and the manufacturer. Lots of retailers try this on and fob you off with the support line for the manufacturer. They train their service/sales staff to push this rather than give in, if you stand for your rights then they’ll accept it.

It’s up to them to repair or replace the item within the first six months or give you a full refund. Challenge is how long it takes to repair the item, you have to end up reading the riot act to them saying that for example a reasonable time aka 28 days is more than enough to repair the item and you expect a full refund. Their response then is usually to give you a refurb item in replacement asap oh along with a reduced warranty on the item.

Never had an account, never wanted an account, saw it right from its inception and thought how the hell would they monetise it. Since then they have driven the fine line of punishment and reward, much like any of the free to play games kept the features flowing whilst chipping away at everything else.

for anyone in the early 90’s the internet was going to be a portal a walled garden with limited access to the rest of it. Aol, Compuserve etc…. now its Facebook you get an email telling you have received an email… walled garden again… sorry I’m going to throw an insult at all of you ‘Sheep’

I fitted out one of those in the early 80’s in Chester, its now the toilets for a bar. Also worked in the one deep below Manchester city centre in the late 80’s. What they have no doubt forgot is that there’s hardly anyone left that has been on a relay adjustment course or still has all the tools.

Back in my BT field tech days (mid to late 80s) I found a lane with the hedges decorated in 100’s of magazines that were beyond the usual top shelf stuff available in the UK at the time.

Took a few visits to suss out what was going on, there was a landfill at the end of the lane and when the local councils did their regular raids on the limited number of sex shops in the area, they’d send literal lorry loads to be buried and they were a bit slap dash in keeping them covered either in the back of the vans or when dumped at the landfill and the hedge porn fairies would deposit them down the length of the lane, either that or the wind would pick them up and blow them all over the place.

I was working in Germany (Menden) last month and found a place called the XXL Schnitzelhaus, they did a 30cm burger and if you were hungry they’d do a double, sod the cutlery you needed a chainsaw to cut one of the things in half.

Deal.. I’m in Dublin this week wandering about with my camera so when I get back at the weekend I’ve some classic examples on my main PC that show this issue, would be interested to see what Capture One does with them. Ps Fuji un-compressed RAW averages about 50MB on the X-T2

    Russell96

Oh with one caveat, Lightroom/Adobe camera RAW totally murders Fuji RAW files when it comes to green, as soon as you start any sharpening, only a touch and I mean a touch and you get weird wormy type artifacts in the greens. I pre-process using Irident X-Transformer and apply the camera/lens profile in that before Lightoom, then all I do in Lightroom then usually is a straighten to cope with my cack handiness.

Ps.. it’s got locking buttons on the ISO and shutter dials, but they just seem to unlock themselves, never had that problem with Nikon, but still its a lovely camera

Trinity College Library Dublin, Fuji X-T2 50mm F2 at F2 1/170sec ISO12800, not gone through the rest of my card properly yet, but this one surprised me as the Fuji seems brilliant with anything green, but to get the detail in this one at a level I couldn’t even see with my eyes, it was pretty dim in there.

Cocked up a bit on this one, didn’t realise that I had knocked the ISO dial to 12800, but it came out okay

What network has good coverage where he’s likely to use it? Then come 4pm when all the kids come home from school watch your throughput drop thru the floor.

How many people are sharing that connection, 2-4Mb is a good hefty video stream so 12Mb should be plenty for a number of people unless there’s some serious Torrenting going on.

What is the experience like physically connected to the router rather than using Wifi? Could be in a student area that the WiFi channel on the router is in use by a lot of other people nearby too.

Ps…just ran a report for the past 30days here and its at 536GB

I remember the Purple Turtle back in the 90’s before they knocked it down to make way for the Oracle, had some pretty mad nights there.

Have a look at this video of the Purple Turtle nowadays on the Metro, its work safe.

Sod the victim blaming if he’s not got any idea of value, i.e break something loose something and gets an automatic “I’ve my dad’s Kona Unit instead” then your Unit is going to get stolen too.

Interesting bit is that the B1B is a lot slower than the original B1. The development of the Mach 2.2 B1 got canned, then later on they decided that they needed something and they made the cheaper/slower Mach 1.2 B1B instead.

True guess it depends on your budget 18-140 cost a fair bit more.

One item you might want to consider in your thoughts about the various options, are the weights of the lenses, for walkabout I guess you don’t want something a lot heavier than you have now.

Sigma 17-55 f2.8 comes with VR, well they call it OS at a reasonable price.

Battery grip is really handy as you can plug in the charger for that and charge the batteries while plugging a USB charger into the camera and charging the battery in that too.

Second vote for the 18-55mm 2.8-4 kit lens is a step above most other kit lenses for quality.

What does take some getting used to is the customisation available in continuous autofocus, 5 presets and one custom preset, it’ll take some time working out what works best for you. I tried preset 2 and a custom setting for an airshow on some acrobatic displays on Saturday and I’m currently working out which one got the most keepers, which takes some time at 11fps when you have the battery grip on.
