Hmm, I’ve a S-Works Epic frame lying spare in the garage at the moment that would be ideal for a build. Will have to research some chain tensioners and have a look at how much chain growth due to the swingarm. Unless there is someone else that’s done similar?

I went from some U-turn Revs on my Soda to some Magura Laurins and have to say they are pretty dammed stiff in comparison.

Second JonEdwards, the bottomless portafilter is great for watching to see if your tamp/grind is spot on or not.

I’ve had mine for over two years now, built it up with discs, tough wheels and tyres so if I fancy checking out a bridlepath when I’m out on a ride I can have a go at riding along it. I wanted something that wouldn’t rattle my fillings out, handled more like an old school MTB rather than a more twitchy road bike and could take a bit of off road riding now and then.

About 4 weeks before I could go for a gentle road ride, at 6 weeks I tried Llandegla and that smarted a bit, pain went after 9 weeks for me. Best thing to get a good nights sleep is a large bean bag to use instead of a pillow, stops you rolling about as much and as uponthedowns suggests try to avoid shallow breaths.

I’m using 8.10 on my 900 customised with the elmurato Eeeasy Scripts, have a read of this for how to install

    eeeuser forum link

In summary you install a custom kernel (link supplied in the above post) which has the relevant drivers, then use the elmurato script to finish the customisation, power save scripts, hotkeys etc..

I use Stanza on my Ipod Touch, just did a search on that title and Fictionwise and BooksOnBoard both supply it for Stanza.

I’ve set my Crackberry to switch on and off automagically, that way I have a defined start & finish to the day otherwise it gets quite easy to work really late. People will try take the P by ringing you late expecting you to answer and do work for them. The office tip is pretty good, get into the habit of closing the door on it the same time everyday and ignoring the phone ringing in it at 8pm etc..

Big plus is is being able to go out for a mid-week lunchtime ride in mid-winter rather than freezing your nuts off with a ride after work.

All, the XC race course is usually a completely different route to the normal trails up there. I’ve only ever ridden on the remains of the race courses in years gone by and they were totally different from the man made trails that exist up there now. Think of them more as your classic forest race trails, than the jumps/berms etc that exist on the Blue/Red/Black courses as you have to remember there have been races going on up there for a lot longer than the trail centre has been open.

They have in the recent past also used newly built sections that they have not yet opened up to the public to connect up to track specifically built just for the race.

Only found about the Boeing Bird of Prey the other day, it flew 40 times in the ’90’s and it has to be one of the most sci/fi looking cold war era aircraft ever

I’ve got an ’04 5Spot on the original rockers, I’ve tried a number of forks on it over the years (Fox Float 130RLCs, Marz AM1’s, Marz Z1) and the best has to be RS Pikes which I just leave at 140mm. The 04 Model 5Spot was designed around the 130mm Fox forks at the time so the 120’s might leave it feeling a bit too twitchy.

Sod of a car dealer let me have one of these for an afternoon a couple of weeks back, I can’t get it out of my head. Rev counter hits 3600 and a hell breaks loose with a great V8 wail, all driven thru just the rear tyres with a decent flippy floppy paddle gear change too.

I’ve got some “Bontrager Approved Mudguard 700c x 45mm Black” on my Roadrat, they fitted OK apart from the plastic safety clips on the front where the arms fit onto the bottom mounts on the forks, just used some small zip ties instead.

Have you made sure to pinch the tyre bead so it’s in the middle of the rim as much as possible, before inflating? I’ve also had more success pumping up tyres with no water/soapy mix on them and doing them dry, putting in the sealant later on.

Looks like the XC4, the M4 has a pair of pad retention pins, wheras the linked pic only shows one hole for a pin.

Take a look at the XC4 in this manual Linky

Thing to check before you splash out on a card is it’s maximum power draw, can your power supply unit supply enough Wattage for it in combination with all your other existing PC components? Also a lot of the medium to high end cards have to have additional PCI Express 6 pin and/or 8 pin power cables from your PSU to power them, as the card needs more power than the PCI slot can deliver on it’s own.

If you are going to be using it to watch video’s etc than it might be worth checking the reviews of your shortlist of cards as some cards can be really really noisy.

Then to complicate things a bit more some cards can be really long so it’s worth checking how long a card you can fit in your pc case.

I’d second Tinribz with Tomscharts being a good starting point. Nvidia 9600, 9800GT (aka 8800GT) or ATI 4830 are all in your pricerange.

All the games I had downloaded from the store I found that I could re-download them so all I lost was the game saves. Soon after I got the replacement I stuck a 320gb drive in instead.

Yes had it happen to me, mine was out of warranty by about 3 weeks when it happened, I worked out it happened after a firmware upgrade and chatting to a local Game manager he said he only ever heard of it happening after a firmware upgrade. So I gave Sony a call just on the off chance and they sent a replacement a couple of days later all I had to do was hand over the faulty one to the courier.

Being a local (living in the next town along from Shotton) so far all the posts are pretty good advice and I agree looking at one of the smaller towns/villages in the area would be a good choice. There’s plenty of riding groups and rides on the go through the week and it’s a good place to be based for a large choice in riding.

Read somewhere that after Kaka recovered from a broken back when he was 18 that he decided to do a 10% of his wages Tithe to his church. So 10% of half a million quid a week (or whatever he’ll be on) going to a church will be at least be of some help to some people. Wonder how many other footballers contribute??

Mostly it’s a case of you get what you pay for, the drive has been for cheaper minutes cheaper unlimited broadband etc.. so the margins have got so thin that the only way they can stay in business is by high volumes of customers with as much automation as possible and the lowest human touch (at the lowest wages) which means that when there is a problem it’s such a royal pain to sort out.

Do you need a phone line? A lot of people have a phone line + ADSL + mobile phone, if so can you make a cost saving and possibly remove a provider or two by possibly going for a 3G phone/modem and doing away with your ADSL & Phone line.
