Think the having to stop before riding under any power lines and working out Ampere’s Law to determine if your forks are going to lock up, pack down or violently expand is going to be quite challenging to write into a user manual.

A few of us staggering back from the pub one night, popped down an alleyway for a piss up against the wall, I remarked to my mate that bloody typical its just started to rain then heard a maniac laughing. It was his brother standing on top of a wall behind us peeing on our heads.

On ice hockey road trips as the B team we used to get the cheap coach with no toilets on it, so it was a case of ‘aquiring’ a large bottle or pint glass on the post match drinking session, to utilise to pee into when the coach driver finally got fed up of pulling over for p stops all the time and wouldn’t stop anymore. I remember emptying a pint glass out of a coach skylight, for someone to say shut the skylight at the back of the coach as it had started raining and it was coming in.

The bog at point 2 can take some navigating and make sure your brakes are in good working order for the descent after.

Ride both a Blur Classic prob same year as yours (swingarm has brake bosses) and a Hemlock, would say the Hemlock with 120mm rockers and short-ish forks (135-140) feels quite similar in the way it climbs compared to the Blur, but a fair different on the descents..

I’ve got a Samsung NC10 that’s done sterling service over the years, wiped the XP for Ubuntu on it ages ago. Agree XP is fine in 2Gb but Win 7 needs more RAM to get going.

Looked at replacements and lots of reviews and the HP DM1 with the AMD E350 in it gets some good write ups and looks pretty good in the flesh.

Atoms only support 2Gb Max for some reason…..

Something with the AMD E350 CPU in it, decent graphics as well as CPU performance and not hobbled by the RAM restriction Intel put on the Atoms.

Gwerdyd Lakes has a range of accommodation including a good bunkhouse, common area with TV and beer fridge, free wifi and a great shower room. They do have a secure locker with some seriously hefty locks on it that you can ask them to store your bikes in.

Got mine May last year, it’s been through a few different setups of forks Pikes, Revs and now Lyriks, came with the 120 rockers but I got one of the last sets of 150’s that Cy had lying around, after a spring/summer of trying them think I will go back to the 120’s and keep the 150’s for special occasions. Since this picture was taken I’ve added some Saint brakes to it as you end up going at some silly speeds on it.

Having the headtube that will take 1.5inch steerer forks is a great touch as you can pick up some right bargains on forks with straight thru 1.5 steerers.

Agree with Nuke re-fitting the rear wheel can be a bit fiddly.

Think there are a fair few riders that need to think more about the results of their actions. The amount of times I’ve seen cyclists riding like knobs among livestock and people is a order of magnitude more than horse riders acting the same. Yes there are a lot more cyclists than horse riders, but still there are a lot of unthinking people out there that if they did some simple things that would make life a lot easier allround.

Don’t slam on your brakes at the last moment skidding and/or squealing away even thou you have had plenty of time to brake beforehand.

Talk to the rider and the horse it doesn’t matter if the rider has seen/heard you and acknowledged you, has the horse done the same? As far as the horse is concerned you are an an unusual speeding object as you are not person shaped and you are moving at a speed thats associated with being a predator and not a people shaped object who can be trusted.

It doesn’t talk much brain power to see by their body language if they are aware of you and are relaxed about you being near them look at their ears.

Imagine you are a person on their scale how much personal space would you need? Think about all the times someone has got inside your zone and how uneasy you feel about it.

As for the crap debate they were stepping through our crap (as were we) until 100 odd years ago so don’t get too hett up about it. It’s easy enough to clean off, lots easier than sheep crap and you are not likely to catch too much off it unlike dog eggs.

We are all on a crowded island, learn to get on life is so much easier if you do.

It is the third one of these in only a few months in the Greater Manchester area, is violent breaking and entering on the increase in the area, something the media have latched on to or something else?

That’s my fave legal Clwyds descent nice n straight forward in the summer, but once it gets wet and the stream starts running over the rocks at the top its carnage.

SLX chainset can be found at a decent price fit it with a On-One stainless steel chainring and keep the original chainrings as spares for the geared bikes.

I’m 6ft2 and 16 & 1/2 stone, never had any problems with blowing any air shocks or forks. I run both pairs of RS Revs and one pair of Rebas at 110psi and I know of lot heavier riders on air forks and shocks.

+1 Northwind I never want to go back to Canti days, gorillia boosters, froglegs, proper shimano straddle cable length tool, lots of different blocks, just a flawed design.

Stick some mini Vees on, or normal Vees with Problem Solvers.

+1 Sandwich, start claiming once a week you are not their bank.

Normally I claim once a month, but if the expenses start to pile up then it’s once a week. Our place (7,000 or so employees UK and worldwide) have finally joined the 20th/21st century and allow scans of the receipts, which speeds up payment and means no more lost in the post delays on claims.

Or get an external USB WiFi adaptor and run it at the end of a long USB cable connected to your PC/Laptop in the garage. Might get a better signal with the adaptor placed somewhere else in the garage.

Oh and you can get outdoors USB wifi adaptors

I’m getting a major case of gonna go out and buy something from my youth now
MkII RS2000 5 speed box and some engine tweeks could hit 7000 in 5th
    MkII RS Mex just silly
Mk3 RS1600i overtake them on the outside on bends, not quick but it handled well
Capri3000S Swaymar inlet manifold with Holley 4 Barrel carb bored out to 3.1 with a high lift cam, could hit 80 in second and in the end sold it as I thought I was going to die in it.
RS Turbo 2 Litre conversion, total money pit, but god was it fun

Noticed Yeti have redesigned the swingarm for the latest 575 in just about the area that their first set of carbon swingarms were failing.

I managed to break an Alu and a Ti frame within the space of a month last year, but my carbon road bike is still going strong.
