Raleigh aero-pro, swapped the frame/fork with a mate for a dp freestyler. Black skyway mags, sold it for £40. 🙁

Sorry no pics but a mint late’ish 90’s rockhopper. Rigid forks, nitanium tubing. Bit of a single speed project but I still have all the original bits.

A good joint of lamb, cup of water and chopped carrots. 8 hours then remove fat and bone, add some bistro and a few heaps of mint sauce. Mmmmmm……….. Even the dog doesn’t leave the kitchen as he knows he’s getting the leftovers.

Turn off water supply outside. Replace stop tap in side or if unacessable, fit a secondary, as long as its before anything branches off it, might have to fit two.
I fitted out an utility and the existing pipework sprung a leak a few weeks later. Was a pita to find but it was filling the floor void and seeping through the bricks. I’m sure it would be showing somewhere.

Had a mate who had been with a co for about 5 years. I had been there about 7 months.
Work had ran out and I told them to let me go as I had an offer else where.
They got dropped to a 3 day week after that, not sure for how long but I’m sure it was about 6 weeks.
I got the lad a start where I was working and he left and the co went under owing £750k a week or so after that.
A while later the receivers got in touch and he still got redundancy even though he had left as because he had been on a short week for so long he should have been offered redundancy.

It not the drill I would be worried about! Core drills as said have a safety clutch, even then hold on tight!
I’ve got one (metabo) and still hate using it, especially when using a 125mm cutter.

i’m not have a go dale rider

i never said it wasn’t there to earth the pipework, its there to make sure there is a fault path to earth, which there will be via the incoming electrical supply or an earth rod.
now lets say there is an fault that makes the cold water pipework in the bathroom live (cable under the floorboard has rubbed on it) and you turn on the tap whilst touching the radiator and the rad is at earth potential and the tap (under fault) is at 240v, that will give you a shock.
the bonding, be it main or suplementary is there to remove the potential differance, ie it would all be at 240v so there is no (or a very limited) path to earth through you, as eletric will go the route of least resistance, its going down the bonding and back to earth.
the mcb/rcd etc “should” have tripped long ago tho!

    have a spy at this

But first off any Electrical working within a Bathroom must be carried out by a competent person – this means Part P registered.

not quite, part p is a building reg, there is no part p register, you need a spark you is registered with a governing bodie (niceic, napit etc) that can pass there own work off.
or you could do the job yourself and pay the local building control to pass it off.

All this will be detailed on the minor works test certificate YOU WILL recieve after the completion of the works.

it shouldnt be a minor works cert, it should be a full electrical intalation cert req for a new circuit,

BTW £400 sounds a bit steep all the same!

    correct!!

    No problem.

I’m not 100% upto scratch with the 17th as I don’t get involved with electrics now, (subby it out) but I know enough that that’s not right, I’ve tried to explain about bonding to various people but it usually falls on deaf ears.

i know about ohms law! but with out knowing the excact voltage and the given resistance, i am unable to calculate the current, so 240v was just a general description.

you clearly have no idea about electrical protection systems in the domestic home

[1/2 correct but as the shower I believe will be fitted in the bathroom then Its Supplementary bonding as opposed to main bonding. Mostly not required these days with plastic main gas and water pipes]

    which half is correct?

you said someone needed to get upto date with the 17th ed.
main bonding is still a requirement in the 17th regardless of what the gas/water mains are made of, supplementary bonding in a bathroom isnt unless continuity cant be proved.

[Supplementary bonding between metallic service and waste pipes and the earth connections of equipment is no longer required, as long as the main bonding of services within the property is in place and the metallic pipework can be proved by testing to be continuous. (This makes the need for green and yellow cables in bathrooms more unlikely).]

plastic water/gas mains makes no difference to main bonding, its there to make sure any pipe work with in the property will be at the same potential if there is a fault, ie you have a shower with a fault and you touch the metal tap the voltage should be the same lets say 240v, no shock, if the tap was “earthed” you now have 240v passing through you and your in trouble.

17 ed added that all circuits have to be protected by an RCD that hopefully will trip before you get a shock thats bad enough to do any harm.

[BTW some one needs to get up to date with 17th edition regs.]

im pretty sure “bonding” is still required in the 17th edition.

im pretty sure “supplementary bonding” in bathrooms isnt.

What type of unit is it? Re-wirable fuses/mcb?
What size cable is in there already?
    Is bonding up to standard?
    Is there a RCD?
Are spare mcb’s readily available for your cu?
The list goes on, but usually no you can’t just put a bigger fuse in.

My wife bought an on going hair salon, the lady owner was having a baby and her hubby had persuaded her to sell it because he didn’t want her to have any hassle once the new child was born.
After child birth, whilst she was still in hospital he told her he was leaving her for someone else and had bought a BMW with the money.
Never saw her for years and out of the blue she turned up at the shop asking to lend £50, the wife felt sorry for her and gave her it, never seen her again.

Not a mate, but was away on a ski hol, 5 lads.
Got talking to some kid in a bar, following night we are sitting at a table in the same bar and hears a metal on glass noise. Turned round to the kid with his knob in a pint glass bashing his piercing off the side. Pee’d in the glass then drank it, started to reach and then vomited the pee and whatever else into the glass then drank that as well.
Kept a wide berth after that.
After a stag do, one lad had no money to stay out on the drink. For a £ a man he let everyone blow there nose into a tissue then ate it. Got about £13.

The wife has a small hair salon, had it for about 18 years. Never had any idea that a licence had to be paid and never heard anything for about 6 years then PPL got in touch and have been paying them ever since.
About 2 years ago PRS sent a letter demanding back payments/fines etc totalling about £250. Told them I’d pay for the licence but not for anything else unless they could give me specific details of what copyright had been breached, sent them a cheque with a letter stating full and final settlement etc, they cashed the cheque then sent the remainder to a collection agency. Explained the situation to them and never heard a thing since. Still having to pay them both each year, about £160 in total.
They will get in touch and ask under hand questions, “we are doing a survey about what radio station you listen to” etc and as stated that there is music playing in the background.

[Are you saying that someone employed by the agency selling the house bought it themselves? Sounds illegal if so!]

there was an employee at a local major bank/estate agent in my town, that, between him and a solicitor friend, managed to purchase a lot (100+) of undervalued property in the mid 90’s
he valued them low and his “friend” bought them to rent, he got caught and got asked to leave with a golden hand shake(£250k)
i have a few properties i rent and i wouldn’t trust any of them!

The wife used to use them. Bought about £300’s worth of clothes and they never turned up. Got in touch after a few weeks and they reconed they had been delivered and signed for by a neighbour but didn’t know what number or even what street. Items were still on monthly statement and as they hadn’t arrived I refused to pay. They wanted me to pay in full whilst they investigated where they had been delivered to.
Went on for about three months and late charges were added but eventually got sorted.
    Account promptly closed.

Done mine snowboarding (airbags aren’t that soft)
Popped straight back in and didn’t give me much pain that day but the following 6 weeks were bad. Had lots of physio which done as much harm as good. Eventually got a MRI and found a tear, got physio to address where the tear was and I’m ok now but it took about 2 years in all.

Cut and pasted from another site

    Be warned!!!!!!!!!!!

We were spammed today by someone from Indonesia, advertising a company called Kitchen Units Leicester with the phone number 01616-694785.
Now I sometimes phone UK companies who have spammed us because they are usually not aware that the £££ they are spending with a disreputable SEO company is being spent hiring peasants in poor countries (like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia) for peanuts to post links on lots of forums and who care not about websites’ T&Cs and rules about spam.

So I phoned the number in the spam 01616-694785. At first the number was engaged. Odd. So I phoned again. Number 4 in the queue. I waited patiently and then asked to speak to a manager. I was then on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. I rang again to ask why I had been put on hold for 10 minutes. Engaged again. Then number 6 in the queue.
While on hold I did some Googling. What I found made me hang up and post this thread.

First of all 0161 I recall is a Manchester number.
Quick check. Yes it is. Not Leicester.

Then I did a search for the number online and found lots of results. Most were spam on other forums which has been deleted, but some still exist e.g.
    Kitchen Units St. Albans

    St. Albans?

I also got some results from customers discussing the company:
    New Kitchen Rip-off – Page 2 – Consumer Forum
    Search complaints

Seems that Kitchen Units are Kitchen Uber, Just Kitchen and Simply Kitchens, and are run by Martin Sersen / Vance Miller.

A search on Martin Sersen brought up
    Kitchensuber – MoneySavingExpert.com Forums

And a search on Vance Miller brought up
Vance Miller – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I decided that nobody at the company would care a hoot that spammers were giving them a bad name since they already have one.

So I have banned the spammer and sent his details to our anti-spam service. If they spam us again, I’ll censor the domain.

Meanwhile, hopefully this thread will make it up Google’s search results for Kitchen Units so people know to take care before parting with their hard earned cash.

I use a jigsaw 5 days a week and I bought the latest bosch as I needed a 240v model.
I fit kitchens and three cuts with a down cutter and it was put in the box and sent back.
Festool is over 4 years old and cuts perfect. I agree that bosch are good as a general saw but for what I do it don’t cut the mustard.
    Never used their drill tho!

Festool jigsaws shit! I’ve got/had makita/bosch/hitachi and the fessy wipes the floor with the rest.
Bosch are ok for general use but the makita was better.
The bosch 10.8v kit is superb for light use.
    +1 for sds.

Howdens only have one sale and you’ve just missed it (all of oct).
    I second DIY kitchens
I’m a kitchen fitter who does lots works for Howdens including their showrooms and have 2 kitchens in my house and both are from DIY kitchens.
Source appliances online (co-op appliances are pretty good) and pick tops local.
Might not be cheaper but you’ll end up with a much better product.

I have found this also. Had one win an auction, no contact for a week then mailed that he thought the postage was too high. I told him I’d refund the difference once he’d paid and I’d posted (worked out at 0.60p).
I had to open an unpaid dispute but he paid right at the last minute.
Since then I have change my setting to block any buyer that has had a NPB strike against them.

    Ditto.
I fit lots of Howdens kitchens, done lots of showroom work for them and also site work. The are ok but I think the prices have creeped up over the last few years. I used to be able to mark up on the supply but now I don’t get involved, just tell Howdens to deal with customer direct and let them earn their pay. The quality of the units is still pretty poor tho and also the lamona stuff is pants. Panels/doors etc are pretty ok.
B&Q, Wickes are about the same but ikea is off my list, one was enough!
