“So you recommend an SDS drill for screwdriving ?”

Not at all? I said I know what he will using the drill that he intended to buy.
He intended to buy (and has) bought a combi drill.

Granny – I’m sure it’s not user error:-), but I bet you would love a impact driver!

I don’t know if it’s his only drill, but I do know what he intends using it for – drilling holes in block/brick/concrete/wood and screwdriving.
So his is underpowered? I’ve a 10.8v impact that will drive screws better than most 18v drills, so it’s not about being underpowered it’s using the right tool for the job in hand.
And IMHO, a sds is the best tool to drill holes in brick etc.
Most people I work with (kitchen fitting/joinery/building) use sds/impacts for 90% of their work.
My father in law was looking for a combi about 4 years ago and I pointed him towards an 240v sds/12v driver deal at screwfix for about £150. He still uses his sds.
And if a 1.3ah battery last all day you can’t be drilling many holes into brick! I can kill my 3ah 36v in a couple of hours.
Trail rat is on the money, if I was buying one drill it would be corded and a long extension lead to go with it.

But is that not what your cordless drill is for?
Agree it might be overkill but why limit yourself to only being able to drill small holes?
I’ve had a combi drill, I think it’s still in the garage somewhere, but the batteries are shot, just as the batteries will be shot on all cordless drills after you’ve had them for a few years.
I use mine 5 days a week, if my batteries are dead in a year I’ve had my monies worth. If I’d used it half a dozen times I’d be a bit naffed!
My sds is ten years old.

I just don’t see the point of a combi drill unless your fitting blinds for a living.
A corded sds drill will drill a 5mm hole right up to a 25mm through three courses of solid brick with out breaking a sweat.
Buy a a combi and at some point you’ll need something bigger.
The chucks are terrible after a while, try using it for fiddly stuff when the bit is wobbling all over.

I use a drill etc every working day.
I wouldn’t have a combi drill. It’s sds for drilling holes and driver/impact for screws.
If your drilling into soft block a combi will be fine but try on hard brick or concrete and it will struggle.
    I currently have :-
    Hilti 36v sds
    Dewalt 240v sds
Bosch 10.8v drill and impact driver
    Festool T18v drill
The dewalt and the impact get used the most when fixing to brick etc.
The hilti if there is no power and the festool for generally everything else.
FFX get the thumbs up from me also.

I had a stinka working with me for a while, he would get in the van on a Monday morn and smell like he hadn’t been washed since Friday.
When anyone commented, he denied it was him. His clothes stunk and had bad b.o. every day.
    Bloody awful tbh.

I’ve got some from a local place.
£1.99 for 4 (8kg) and there pretty good. If I put a full one in and when it’s lit turn the damper to low it lasts for about 1:40 mins and burns very hot. They double in size when fully lit so a half ticks over quite nicely as well.

I’ve been to Bansko quite a few times with the wife and daughter.
It can work out quite cheap if you get a free child place, always booked via Balkan holidays and the last time I was there worked out about £1300 half board, including ski hire/tuition/passes and just a lift pass for me.
Cheap enough to eat out as well.

Happened a few years ago. Some scrote hit my van whilst I was on holiday. My next door neighbour witnessed it and took his details. The scrote knocked at my door and told me he would pay cash for the repair but could I wait a few weeks. Never seen him again. I contacted my insurance and they confirmed he was insured and gave me the details of the company. Contacted them direct and they paid out within about 8 weeks after not receiving any replies from him.

Why don’t they stagger the hols as they do in other countries? Might not save the parents any money but at least it won’t be as busy.
A lot of people I know are now travelling up to Scotland for flights as their term times can be different to the uk and it shows in the price. My mate has saved about £200 per flight (times by 4) for flying from Glasgow to Florida instead of leaving from Newcastle.

It’s all ways puzzled me how it’s ok for the school to take a group of kids skiing during term time with the teachers travel costs funded by the parents, but it’s not ok for a child to go with there family?
I’ve always took my daughter for week out in jan/feb and the head was fine about it, but she is now in high school and I try and go just after new year. Fly on the 1st at 7am next year!
I sort of agree if its to sit in a tacky bar in benidorm for a fortnight tho!

I used them to get one direction tickets for my daughter.
Paid £180 each (£35 face value).
The morning of the concert they still hadn’t arrived even after contacting them daily for a week and them insisting they were on there way.
Got an email of them at 2pm that there were no tickets and a refund and a £100 voucher was on its way.
    Not a happy bunny!
But on the other hand I know people who have had no problems.

I have a bell. Usually quick tinkle and a thank you as I pass is fine.
Was out one night last week and 2 female joggers were on a path that
has cycle/walking signs at every junction, I passed and as my buddy passed one said
“I don’t know why cyclist don’t stay on the road”
I never heard but I’m sure I would of gave them a very polite reply.

I’ve just fitted 3 of the eBay 10watt led floods around my garage.
They replaced 2 old 150watt pir halogens.
They’re pretty bright but not 300watt brightness.
I have a mega-man 60w flood at the back of the house and that’s nice and bright.

I fit kitchens for a living. Fitted hundreds of Howdens kitchens.
There ok but the prices have creeped up over the years.
I’ve fitted a few ikea units and wouldn’t fit another for a punter as they are very “querky”
B&q, Wickes etc are all as good/bad as each other.
I have used DIY kitchens in my own home and for customers and the service and quality is spot on.
But it all depends on how much you want to spend.

I converted on Tuesday. 20″ inner tube, tubeless ready tyres and stans.
Took about 10 mins a tyre and that was my first time. Inflated with co2 as it wouldn’t work with a track pump.
First ride and it feels different, hard to explain but if I popped a wheelie it felt like the wheel accelerated quicker than the tyre. Can’t say I noticed lighter etc but small bumps (stones etc) felt nice. No handlebar rattle like with tubes.
Grip felt better. So far pleased.

The owner was there, not that I heard him try and call it back. It was pitch black and only saw it at the side of a path when I was very close. Looked back as I heard its feet on the pavement and thought f*** this I’m off!

Another 50 yards and it would have had me!

Been to pamps years ago so can’t really comment as its changed so much, but I’ve been to Bansko about 7 times and borovets once.
Neither are big resorts and I didn’t really enjoy borovets, lots of strip bars and touts hassling you at a night time.
Bansko IMO is the best resort but last time I was there it was insanely busy and seemed full of out of control Russians.
There is also hefty queues at the gondola in the morning, if you there at 8 its usually ok but by 8:30 its huge!

    St James hotel.
Cheap and cheerful and a stones throw from Times Square.
Rooms are a bit old, or they were when I was there, but you’ll not be in it much.

My uncle had this but never had any fish in in the beginning.
Eggs on plants was the only explaination. They were black at first then turned gold.

A hop where both wheels leave at the same time – crouch down and pop up with toes down and pushing back.

A front then back hop – crouch, then pull up and slightly back, when front wheel is lifted push forwards with arms keeping toes down and back, the rear wheel should follow the path of the front.

I find it harder with suspension as you have to time it with the rebound.

On a ski holiday and done the fast waddle back to the room one night as I knew there was a nasty one coming.
Got into the room, dropped my pants but only got halfway before it released itself into my kegs.
The remainder hit the bowl and was the consistency of madras curry.
Jumped in the shower then into bed but forgot to flush the toilet.
My bro in law came back about an hour later and went for a pee and found the remnants still stuck to the bowl.
Found it quite funny lying in bed listening to him reaching!

If some one try’s I politely say “no I can’t and leave it”.

I’ve an 11 year old patterdale. He had about 16 out a few months ago.
Cured his honking breath and never bothered him much. He was a bit groggy because of the general anesthetic but fine the day after. Took a couple of weeks before he would chew (gum) his bone tho.
There dogs, there tougher than you think!

My back went in 1991. I had drove home, got out of the car and it went, no warning.
Went to see an osteopath about 3 times and it eased but I was skint and never went back.
From then on, it would go about 3/4 times a year, resulting in 3 days on the couch and another week or 2 before it eased up.
I had been referred by my doctor to see a few different specialist that didn’t help a lot.
Went to see a chiropractor, at the start I went every week and then it dropped to once a month. After a while without any flare ups I stopped going and within 6 months it was back.
I was recommended a retired physio who worked from home and off I went, he was superb, I recon he was sacked from the nhs as he was a sadist, but he has pretty much sorted me out.
Turns out I have SI joint problems and as long as it gets adjusted regularly, (been doing it myself for the last 4 flare up free years) it’s fine.
    So according to my experience-
    Osteopath – was to gentle.
Chiropractor – very effective but reliant on return visits.
Sadistic physio – sorted but painful!

I went through this a few weeks ago.
Measure from your seat post from clamp to seat rails when in your highest required position.
    A 125mm needs 190mm min showing.
    A 100mm needs 160mm min showing.
The total length of the post is decided by what you need in the frame.
    I bought a 100/355 as I have 170mm out and 185mm in.
If you wanted a 100 and had 260mm out that would only leave 95mm in so you would need a longer one.
If you want the button underneath get a right hand for the left and vice versa.

What are you doing about the adjacent cabinet?
    Remove hob/oven/housing/cabinet/plinth
Cut worktop, fit edging, fit bayonet for new cooker (gas safe plumber)
Stick cooker in new gap, cut plinth to suit.
You might need to pack the floor up if the tiles don’t go right back and there might be issues with wall tiles unless you sit the cooker slightly higher.
Your a bit far for me to do it but it ain’t a huge job, prob half day.
