Hope or Chris king. Forget Shimano their stuff is rubbish, always break their bottom brackets. My Hope is going on 3 years old with no need to replace the bearings yet, which you can’t do with the Shimano ones.

Miss out the fire road loop just after the half way house on the Beast, its pointless. Carry on up the very steep road and take the 2nd road on the right after the right turn for the fire road (so 3rd right) Go round the gate and the start of the descent is 100-200yds up the road on the right.
    +1 for rubber queens.

XR4 tyres seal sweet in the tubeless ready spec. Really good tyre on most conditions and surfaces but seems to lack a little grip when its muddy compared to my previous continental X-kings and rubber queens. They have unbelievable grip on rocky or loose stones/shingle type surfaces. They wear really really well.

You could always contact either Mojo or TFTuned to purchase the shock from them and you can then get them to custom tune it for your specific requirements. I have always used Mojo for servicing etc but if I was going down this avenue I would probably go with TFTuned as its a more thorough custom upgrade as they will ‘Push’ it for you, so more specific to the bike, your weight and the style of riding you do. Next service I have done on my RP23 will be through TFTuned to get it Pushed.

Pocket full of odd small coins should do the trick (£1 coins do the most damage if you can afford it!)

How do you mean parallel to the ground Ruscle?

Sort of flat when mounted so not poking in the air too much. Its actually easy to operate like this as well.

All good news. Will be their for Sunday roast mid ride this weekend. I was onto the local tourist info centre today and they exhausted all avenues to find a number for the plough and couldn’t get one, even ringing around friends who used to drink/live in Holford!!

I wish I could do this but run sram shifters with the Hope Tech levers on match makers so their isn’t any room. I just run the reverb remote nearly parallel to the ground so I can still flip the bike at not have to worry about damaging it. I could run the remote closer to the stem but my brake/shifter mount is already 5cm inboard so it would be too much of a stretch.

2 weekends ago they were selling all easton items cheap. I got the Havoc carbon bars for £71 and the Haven stem for £44, too cheap to say no! I would agree that they are an excellent online store making it very hard to pop a mile down the road to the LBS and pay more in the process!

I would think that their would be more demand for 26ers at all times in the future over 29ers, its just that 29er owners seemed to shout about their bikes more than the rest. I’m sure that sale percentages would back up my claims if some one has any!!?

I would pay £250 for the first P7 to commute on so I think their in the right price range, all depends on condition once close up so would probably haggle you down a bit! Where are you based?

You might want to look at getting the x2’s with the race lever as everyone seems to rave about it and in recent what mtb magazine brake tests the race lever increased power aswell as reducing weight. I personally love the tech lever.

No worries, always happened with my avids no matter if bled perfect, so just remember if you do wheel through a gate on back wheel to squeez them a few times.

What brake? I know acids go like this if they are turned up side down. A few pulls of the lever a time to settle should sort it if Avid.

I have had both on my 140mm trail bike and prefer the V2’s as I have all the power I need with the smallest amount of 1 finger squeeze required and a huge amount of control over the delivery of that power and the pads last longer.

Not used RR but the conti x-kings 2.4’s are sweet tyres, I would opt for the protection as seal aswell but have stronger side walls so can run lower pressure. Gripped nearly aswell as Rubber queens in all conditions and are a fast tread, they give you good float over the rough aswell due to their volume. Only real downside was in really rocky terrain the side walls got scuffed up quickly as they have a very round profile. Moved onto bonty xr4’s as nearly as good but wear better and are cheaper, I would still run the conti’s if I earnt more money!

I suspect anyone who thinks that Hope’s don’t have enough power haven’t taken the time to set them up properly. I sorted my friends out and he was amazed at the difference after.

I would ignore any suggestions of shimano brakes as they can’t be serviced if a simple o ring goes, you have to replace the whole caliper! V2’s weak, I think not

    ruscle

Simply put its power and weight. D2’s are for xc, m4’s are free ride and v2’s are down hill brakes. Most of the weight gain for the v2’s is in their specific rotors. I use the v2’s on my asr5 as they have oodles of power and loads of modulation, never get arm pump and always have enough brake. Some people like to run the race lever with the m4 calipers.

X2’s are good but have the V2’s now and they are fab. I highly recommend them

Check your pivots that none are sticking, my shock stuck down and it was due to this as it puts the shock through un-natural forces so it bonds to itself internally somehow.

Pro pedal supports the shock more through the stroke so you don’t just blow through the travel. Only works when pro pedal is on. The tune difference on the rebound just means that it will rebound slower in a given setting. If you imagine a scale 1-10 (1 being fast 10 being the slowest rebound) L tune will go from ranges 1-5, M will go from 3-7 and F will go from 5-10. Generally you want your shock to rebound as slowly as you can get away with, and a medium setting on a Kashima shock is a good thing as its so slippery it will rebound quicker so the medium will nearly be a match for the L setting on your RP2.

Not sure on the specific ones to match, but you could get the ESI foam grips and cut to size. The grips are very comfy and stay put. They will also lighten up your setup, my full set of grips and bar plugs weighed 46g.

The Crankbrothers Cobalt grips are sweet

Just got some of those ESI foam grips and I’m very impressed. These will be my choice of grip from know on.

Tolerances on 2012 posts are much tighter meaning it is sealed better and will have less or no play for longer.

Whats the difference between the older reverb and the MkII?
Does the service kit “upgrade” the old one in any way?
Do you need any special tools to complete the service?
Oh, where did you buy your service kits from?

    Thanks!

    +1 on all these questions

Warranty can be transfered as a friend of mine bought one secondhand and the frame snapped. All he did was present the receipt and took on the person ID by creating a new email using persons name in email address! No questions asked and a new frame 1 week later.

I use them before and also during and after. When doing half marathons I sip them for the 24hrs before to build up a good level for during the race/crawl!

aye thats the spirit ruscle not like a clean supply of water is important yso ou piss it down the sink in a wastefull manner
If that dont teach them to fix leaks then frnakly what will

Surely as long as I don’t use a hose pipe to piss it down the sink then its ok and not wasteful
Also I don’t consider any water I use to be a waste.

    How very public-spirited of you.

I ride to work, recycle and clean up my dogs crap, so I consider myself very public spirited. I pay more for my water than people on a meter as the inlet pipe is shared with the next door neighbour, so I can’t have a meter installed. If the water company would consider reducing my fee’s when a hose pipe ban is on then I would comply. Would you pay for all your groceries at Tesco (other shops can be used) for them to turn round and take 2 bag full’s back, because their lorries had broken down due to poor maintenance leaving them short on deliveries so they were low on stock!

I had a Fuel EX9 from 2008 and used to run the shock with between 115-120psi max in it. The bike rode so sweet and plush. I weigh 12 1/2 stone and the sag would be around 35-40%.

Always ignore it anyway as not on a meter so they take the money from me each month regardless. Also a 3rd of their water outlay is on the leaks they never get round to fixing, So when their is a shortage they make us pay for it instead of fixing their system.

When I had my wheels built I was told to bring them back after 4-6 weeks later after putting them through their paces as they would probably need tweaking the tension. If you were not given this option I would question the quality of service.
