Deeper braking surface on the disc rotor and not a floating rotor. Problem with the normal floating rotor’s is the rivits catch on the callipers.

I got the rims from light-bicycles in China and got stung £20 import duties etc. They do mark them down a lot cheaper than true cost ie. £50 instead of the £220 they cost. Excellent rims well worth the money. Links to the 2 threads on mtbr forum below:

Sounds like I should have left them to continue down following slightly behind so I could enjoy watching them get into difficulties as they took too much speed into it!!

Thinking of riding at the tocks on sunday, what are the conditions like at the moment?

Just got a pair of 2.2 ust’s from bike discounts in Germany, cost £79 with delivery. They only weighed 700g and 730g and look very slightly smaller than my old set both in width and how tall they are.

As above, always run RQ 2.2 ust front and back all year round.

Never used a Baron. I just stick with RQ 2.2’s front and back and always have good grip in all conditions.

What about a Rubber Queen 2.4 UST up front? The 2.4 has an extra sticky black chilli compound to give extra grip.

Just been out on my new own build cheap chinese wide carbon rims from light-bicycles and they are sweeeeeeeeet. Cost £220 for the pair of rims and are super easy to build up true as was my first build. They weighed 372g each rim and are as wide as Flow’s. Can’t recommend them enough if you fancy carbon wheels and have a little time on your hands to build them up. Mine are on CK hubs with Sapim CX-ray spokes and brass nipples weighed in at 1600g for the pair of wheels which I think is good as CK hubs aren’t light.

Definitely run the 140mm forks and the medium will fit best with a stubby stem and super wide bars, you will love it.

Sugru works well as tends to be slightly rubbery as well once set.

I had this problem with my Rovals after converting to 12 x 142, when out of the frame spun perfectly, once clamped into the frame it wouldn’t free wheel. It turned out to be the seal between the hub main body and the free hub (I believe its metal backed and you have to punch it in with the proper tool or a hope one similar, really cheap to get a new one through LBS and get them to instal. When looking at the old versus the new one I and the shop couldn’t see any damage or difference but once installed there was no drag anymore and never had the problem again. I guarantee this will be your problem/solution 100%

Light bicycle wider carbon rims laced to your choice of hubs with sapim clary spokes. Rims are good and very light and only cost £220 for the pair. Any Easton carbon bar. I-beam seat post and saddle will save a load of weight. ESI foam grips, they are very good and don’t budge once on. Ti bolts all over apart from shifter and brake mounts where you want to use alloy bolts. The one disc brakes. SRAM XX cassette. Single bolt seat collar.

Just wear 2 merino base layers, that’s all I do when it’s really cold. 1 long sleeve and a short sleeve over the top.

should have bought Hope as your brakes are now dead due to a crappy square rubber seal.

Go to the right after the rocky first part of the fort, climbing up the grass for about 100m then carry on to the right into the trees and all the way to the gate. You then pop onto the road and its a few minutes back to the burger van at Holford.

You go under the fallen tree then up to your left at the bottom of Bin combe, becomes narrow and through holly bushes you then take the obvious sharp left back up the trail after the bushes and you eventually pop out on the road, then just keep climbing.

It is worth doing as stated by Stoner, its good to get an understanding. Also stans changed their solution after a while and it became more watery resulting in not sealing as well as it used to, also it dries out to quickly. The brew posted is much more stable and should stay fluid for a very long time and also not booger up as stans does (results in a big ball of rubber in your tyre)

Yes it is a flour type substance used to thicken foods so you may be able to substitute with cornflour.

Yes xantham gum is a food thickener which you can get from Tesco’s (other supermarkets can be used) you only need about 1/4 tea spoon per litre. I got my plumbing antifreeze ( PG in the thread recipe ) from a local caravan supplies store. This whole mix is very cheap to make and very stable so will last along time and not dry up so quick or booger up. They concluded that glitter didn’t work, you could use the lint from your tumble dryer filter.

Top off quart container with deionized water (about a cup)

From the thread on mtbr which you have probably read, link below to last but 1 page with this recipe on:

    Best DIY tubeless brew

Look on model shops websites as they use rubber crumb to make the grass on the sides of the train tracks and rubber sponge for the bushes. ‘Woodland scenics’ are the main producers, put that company name into eBay and you will get a few good results for course and fine turf and the hedge stuff as well.
Well worth making your own just make sure you get the thick latex and not the watered down stuff.

Did you size up on the photon jacket? As looking to buy one but unsure what size to get, normally medium in tops but large in roadie rain jackets so was going to go with a large. 42″ chest 34″ waist
