I heard that tollah and singlespeedstu enjoyed exploding over each other so thought it would be ideal to share a room, not sure you would be able to fit your massive wheels in aswell though!

Use threadlock 222 as is only low strength and will only require 5Nm to get loose. I use it on all bolts.

Thank you all for the laughs you have given me on this grey day while at the inlaws! I’ve not once stated I’m radsik and gnarly but will do my best to live upto the tag, maybe a few ghosties next time I’m on the bike! But I will stand by the fact that the quantocks are awesome, and I hope to see you all mincing around those combes.

They look a little scared in those pictures! And I thought we were bonding Stu! Happy days, atleast your not riding a horse or some other waste of time.

Stu- Sounds to me like you haven’t rode much of the quantocks, but I’m probably wrong. I reckon you like your niche bulls**t by following the latest fad, but I’m probably wrong! Anyway you have kept me entertained for the day. Each to their own.

Stu I take note that all of your pictures are on nice smoother soft grass and leaves and your generally motionless, also you seem to be in around all the nice easier trails. Each to their own I guess, if you like them that’s cool, but I don’t.

Not trying to kid anyone, honest I’m crap on a bike but that is also a point as would probably fold the wheels with my ham fisted riding ability! and its how you ride not where imo. Seemed to have touched a nerve! Don’t see any 29ers at quantocks but then their probably mincing about on some smooth stuff somewhere else. Anyway its only my opinion which is only worth something in my mind! Put Steve peat on a 29er and I’m positive he would show me different…

As they have all said, just build it and stop mincing about.

I just can’t imagine the wheels holding up when being blasted through natural rock gardens, over serious root sections and off drops/over jumps. To me their like the wheels on women’s shopping bikes and suited to similar terrain! Can honestly say their not for me or the type of terrain and style i like to ride (no trail centres) Don’t get me wrong I may change my mind 1 day, maybe when I’m old and lost my driving license and need transport to go to the shops! :-)

I thought fox replaced its 7.5wt oil with the 10wt oil making them basically the ssme thing ad my forks used to be 7.5wt but now mojo say use the 10wt. Not all manufacturers oil weights are identical so maybe fox are using a different brand these days hence the switch to 10wt.

If it was the tape you would have sealent seeping out of a spoke hole along with the air. Fill a bath and dip the wheel, you will then see if the air is coming from the rim or tyre. I’ve had it in the past where I would get tiny air bubbles clinging to the surface of the tyre and this was the leak where it would seep air from the sides but not with enough pressure to feel or hear it. If I brushed the bubbles off they would apear again on the sides of the tyre but not bunble up through the water. Good luck, it can be a pain to get these systems running sweet but all worth it in the end.

andyl- Yes on the paper work you get with the bars it states the different warrenty periods on their bars.
Philjunior – even scientists can make mistakes! Just try them, only proof worth taking notice of and weight saving isn’t that small, you can loose atleast 1/4 of a pound in weight.

Both me and a friend had easton ea70 bars and went to ec70, the ec70 were a much better bar even the weight difference seemed to help handling, not sure how but it was a noticeable difference all round. Moved to the havens and they are another improvement, have also paired them with the haven stem which is also excellent and only £65 from merlin bargain once I sell my Thomson for £40! Also consider the haven carbon bar has a lifetime warrenty and the alloy ones are only 5 years.

Their much better than alloy bars, I noticed the difference. Get the Easton havens from merlin £97 they are sweet. Most people on this forum like to put stuff down unless its retro, ss or 29er! And they probably have carbon frames but will then say the bars are a waste of money! Get some they are a vaste improvement.

I got the latest middleburn 4 arm duo’s and have run them with 9 and 10 speed set up, no difference in shifting, not the greatest but its middleburn and British so will always get my support.

I only use the black chilli, don’t want to compromise on the only thing in contact with the ground. Well worth the money, life-cycles are about the cheapest at £36 posted.

Myprotein website is about the best for these products. They do a pure whey protein mix for about £15.

Jag wire outers can be quite thin, say 1-2mm less in diameter. If no joy jagwire also do some stick on cable guides where you can then clip the hose to with those c style plastic clips or you can zip tie them.

Mine worked perfectly out of the box, they only need bleeding once fitted due to cutting the hose to required length the same as you would with any new disc brake.

The chain reaction cycle price dose not include the bleed kit which you will need and begs the question where they are from as their part of the complete purchase normally. Got mine from Hibike in germany, 4 days to arrive and total was £195, cheapest by far.

I just use a hammer and a flat surface to use the removal tool from BETD, I believe they have instructions on how to use on their website.

Is the sleeve in the eyelet not the bush? As said replace this bush, you can get the tool needed if you want to do it yourself from BETD and also their bushes. Your doing well only just needing to replace it on a 2007 bike, I normally replace between 10-12 monthly.

Yes they do, I believe its half price or something like that, but the lid has to be no more than 2 years old. As above I would google it to be sure

55mm Haven stem would be nice with the bars, I couldn’t go that low due to lack of reach on my current set up. To me the 715mm wide Haven bars just feels a natural width, very comfy and plenty of control for the rocky fast descents. Putting your grips on wider would be a good idea to see what felt right for you.

I just got the carbon havens as previously had the EC70 bars with 685mm width and I noticed the difference, to me the havens are a much better width, also personally I think 750mm maybe a little wide for me especially on some of the trails I ride. My havens measured 715mm. Also got the 70mm haven stem to match which is also an improvement over the Thomson I had before. The bars would be a good purchase.

I’m looking at getting some Troy Lee designs KG 5400 look enough padding but are meant to remain really cool and very good for pedalling, I myself have never thought of knee pads but may get these for the odd occasion I feel they would help me to be more balls out!

You can get a Ti 11-36 9 speed cassette of that bloke on ebay, expensive but I have had no problems with the1 I have.
