Think I’ve used a fast charger (22kw) about 5 times and only charged to 80% using that.

22kW isn’t a fast charger. It’ll still be an AC supply, so limited by whatever size inverter is installed in your vehicle (most likely 7 or 11kW)

Could you fill all of the frame’s tubes with water and then drink from there?

Solar panel export tariffs pay you half of the output of the panels, regardless of how much you use yourself.

Eh? Export tarriffs pay what the meter says you’ve exported… If you use all the solar generated power for charging the car, you export nothing and get paid nothing.

They ought to put sprinklers inside dishwashers

Isn’t that how they work anyway???

I wouldn’t have said that 24kWh per day, every day is very little… and I know that it wouldn’t cover the demand – however that’s £2,400 pounds of electricity that I wouldn’t be buying from the grid each year.

more so if the sunny aspect is not the main frontage aspect

The main (listed) frontage is the sunny aspect. All other roof space and any usable portions of the garden are shaded for much of the day, so not viable for solar – and I’d need a fair sized array to get 24kWh every day.

Unfortunately the mill is listed, so no chance of getting permission for solar.

I’d hope for about a 1kW hydro scheme charging batteries.

I’ve briefly looked into water source heat pumps, but not sure if there’d be enough flow in the burn (especially in the summer) to make it a viable source.

Even with the prospect of “free” electricity, I’m struggling to justify the additional cost of ground source.

We’re in an old mill – and I’ve got plans to harness the burn and build a pico-hydro scheme to power the house. So the oil boiler will definitely be going soon in favour of ‘free’ electricity

    Slightly random q…

I don’t have a roof that I can put panels on (listed building, any areas I could potentially get permission are North facing).
I do however have a 7ft high beech hedge running 40m up the side of the garden (in direct sunlight all day).

Would I be able to mount panels on top of the hedge (on some form of pole / frame)?

Would this likely kill the hedge?

I tried, but being ‘heavier set’ I didn’t get on with them, those nobbly pavements for visually impaired, catch a heel bone on there, pray for padding again!

someone on previous page had said ChargePlace Scotland is £0.30/kWh, but I don’t think that’s right.

Charge Place Scotland just collect the money – the operator of the charging station sets the price (whether that’s the local council or a private operator)

What’s the heaviest weight they can lift?

The Liebherr LTM 1850 pictured above is 700 tonne (but that drops quite quickly the further away from the crane you go).

The tower cranes that the OP is talking about won’t be anywhere near that though.

Point of order: the bullseye only occurs in about 2/3rds of Lymes cases (IIRC) so don’t treat the lack of it as a negative diagnosis.

My understanding is that, if you do actually get the bullseye, it may not be on the bite site either

Always go hill running in shorts (NB: they’re hills in Scotland, we don’t have fells up here @robola)

Routinely pull many off me during and after runs. Never had an issue as either get them before they’ve had chance to lock on, or get them out asap.

There’s deer in my garden and in the farmers field and forest next to the house, so plenty about.

Forbes is perfectly entitled to live her life how she chooses to live it but she has no right to tell other people how live theirs.

Isn’t that almost exactly what the leader of a country actually DOES have the right to do? (by making laws, etc)

Key thing would be getting a face fit test for whichever mask is chosen. You can have the best mask in the world, but if it doesn’t fit right…

Also, as mentioned – it’s the employer’s responsibility to get this sorted, not you / your son’s

I think the case is off unless there are headphones within it

The case would still be in some form of standby mode, rather than off – there’s a lot of (justified) twitchiness in aviation around lithium batteries… it’s not just Trail_rat who wants their helicopter to not be on fire

    rugbydick

The issue with offshore heli operators and rechargeable earbuds is the lithium battery in the case and the fact that they’re ‘always on’… i.e. there’s no off switch on the case. (phones, etc can be switched off)

You can take Bluetooth headphones offshore with you, but you have to be able to turn them off completely. I’m not aware of any of the earbuds with cases that comply with that.

I take Beats Powerbeats and Sony XM1000 offshore with me no problem.

    @longdog

    From the factsheet

Households who are eligible for but who do not receive <abbr title=”Alternative Fuel Payment”>AFP</abbr> or the £100 heat network payment, because they do not have a relationship with an electricity supplier for example, will receive the £100 via the <abbr title=”Alternative Fuel Payment”>AFP</abbr> Alternative Fund which will be provided by a designated body. We will confirm details of the <abbr title=”Alternative Fuel Payment”>AFP</abbr> Alternative Fund shortly.

do you know anything about the £100 rebate?

    Recently updated Govt factsheet

The Alternative Fuel Payment (<abbr title=”Alternative Fuel Payment”>AFP</abbr>) will provide a one-off payment to UK households that use alternative fuels for heating, such as heating oil or <abbr title=”Liquefied Petroleum Gas”>LPG</abbr>, instead of mains gas… Households eligible for these payments will receive £100 as a credit on their electricity bill this winter.

    What TINAS said.

Also, if you’re working for an umbrella IR35 isn’t applicable so you can stop using Treasury/HMRC’s anti-contractor language of “disguised employment”
