    Awww I think its cute.

With all the doom and gloom around at the moment why shouldn’t people be excited about riding in the Alps.

Nice to see you are going too. 😀

Thanks for all the input folks. Not sure the Mrs will let me have both 😕 I have Mountain Bikes so as has been mentioned, I have off road fairly well covered. I reckon a road bike is indeed what I should look for. Oldgit according to the lad in Evans, I am in need of a 56” frame 😉

Hope you all have a decent New Year.

    Regards

I have a mountain bike and I am looking to buy a road bike, then I started to consider a Cx bike as it appeared to be more versatile. I dont have much background on road bikes or cx bikes so I tought I would ask a bit of advice from those who might know. Some have been kind enough to offer some advice for which I am grateful and will help me decide.

Again, thanks for the helpful responses.

Can’t comment on a TransAM but I have ridden a Stiffee everywhere for years and it is ACE its a very capable piece of kit and it manages to feel very in touch with the trail.

    Hope this helps.

Sadly MBR was the only mag available with Clubcard Points on subscription, so my wife bought it for me as a little prezzie, however I loathe the stupid gnarly riding styles they all assume when pictured.

    Hi All

Following the past two years of severe winters the Government comissioned the Dft to produce a definitive Snow Code for residents to feel unburdened by the threat of litigation if they cleared the path outside their property. The hyperlink is below I think.

I have a slightly different view, I absolutely loved the extra stiffness a larger diameter stanchion delivered. I am a similar weight to you and swapped out Pikes for Lyriks, solo air ones with reduced travel, on a number of my bikes from hard tail to full suspension. I have never found that the weight an issue in any way. I would definitely say do not hesitate in going for larger stanchions, what fork you choose is up to you, watch the axel to crown length though that will make it feel different more than the weight.

    Just my experience.
    Have fun.

    HI Swadey

We have recently returned from a great holiday using the Outwell Hartford XXL tent. I can vouch for the fact that it is a great piece of kit. We were lucky enough to have to camp through the tail end of the recent hurricane apparently ( typical British ‘Summer’ as far as I can see), so we had high winds and heavy rain and the tent proved more than up to the job. In fact we were among the few on the site that did not have any issues due to the weather. We did a practice pitch before going on holiday and found the tent simple enough to put up. During our holiday we visited several sites and have now honed our technique to make it quicker and easier to pitch. I would say that if you follow a few straight forward processes the tent will be easy for you to pitch.

As an aside I would say that the XXL is well worth a look as it gives you a spare ‘pod’ to use as a larder, wardrobe etc and its footprint overall fits on the same size pitch. The dome is huge and we had several requests from others capmsters for a guided tour. Oh yes, and it IS flysheet first and there are fitted, but detatchable inners in the sleeping pods.

If you do decide to buy or want any more info just let me know.

    Regards

LoL – Steve Austin and all you the others with amusing quips.I have lights and a turbo trainer and as rightly pointed out there is ALWAYS time to ride, I will stop my whinging.

Feels better knowing I am not alone stewing in my own juices.

    Cheers

Ps any of you who are riding good luck to ya 🙂
