Thanks for the encouraging comments and input everyone. I will take the plunge I think.

I will also try to safeguard unicorns and kittens wherever possible. 😉

I have lots of rags, for which my wife constantly mocks me….. 😆 (not to be misconstrued)

I have had the same problem and found T Cut removed them reasonably successfully.

T5 KOMBI SWB here, every day for work and recreation, all the convenience of a van but the same wheel base as a large estate. Drives much like a car too with decent size mirrors. As said above there are the haterz but its just personal choice. I have owned and driven many different vans and many perform adequately but the T5 ticked more boxes for me personally.

Try it and if you don’t like it flog it and do something else. Vans don’t depreciate as hideously as cars unless it is a pup.

Yes it does look like we are going to get a soaking. It was also very wet a couple of years ago if I remember rightly 😯

A number of my family, including me, have been using these Tanakas daily and they have been very good.

    Hi Takisawa
That is exactly what I am looking for I think. Sadly I am too far away to take up your kind offer of a test ride but the picture has been a great help and I will start keeping an eye out for something similar.

    Thanks for your help.

It’s the ATR that has been on my mind a lot recently. I am going to use the idea of getting one as an incentive.
That Nicolai 650b looks seriously tempting too.

Hi, yes I have replaced the motor on my Dyson. It’s straight forward enough, most difficult part was getting the wheels off!!! I think I found a guide on how to do it from Google. Not sure which one you have. Dyson also do repairs but I don’t know how expensive it is.

Have a go,it’s nice to make something work again. Good luck 🙂

Bought my son a Maverick ion 1/18 scale rtr. Less than £100 and it’s been great. It fits your requirements perfectly I reckon. You can find some u tube clips of it in action if you want to check it out. One really useful feature is that you can set the max speed of the car so your youngster can learn how to use it without it being too much of a handful. I bought an extra battery pack so I could take it for thrash when my boy was tucked up in bed. 😉

Yep big fan here too, ideal for full length outers. They work best using the GT85 pressurised low viscosity type of lube in my experience, this travels well along the full length of the outer and purges the outer of clag, and the cable runs smoothly with little friction. I use one in the middle of each full length cable run which works well.

Defo more difficult to source now days though. 🙁

The mining museum on the way to Whistler from Van is very good. You cant miss it there is a HUGE yellow dump truck visible from the road. It never worked there but its still HUGE. There are also some really lovely swimming lakes around Squarmish and a super water fall. Sunshine Coast has a nice ferry trip. Deep Cove is lovely too and you can hire those standing paddly surf board thingeys. 😀

Broxbourne Woods has a fine collection of wooded single track to suit any recreational rider. Its also absolutely within riding distance of Barnet.

The KCNC adaptor looks like a sensible solution but LeeW makes a compelling case for the Praxis option. Bit of a mine field, ends up potentially spendy! 😕

Just checked my frame and it looks as though its a PF30 🙄 so after all that fussing about BB30 I have to investigate the nuances of PF30, kinda wishing I had not gone there now. 😕

    Thanks Amt, much appreciated.

And cheers Lee also, I had seen the Praxis option and thought it looked interesting. Can anyone explain what the deal is with bearings? Do you have to replace the whole Praxis unit or can you simply change the bearings?

Thanks for all the great help so far. 🙂

Do you still use the BB30 bearings? and the Praxis thingy then acts as a sleeve which reduces the axle diameter to HTII size?

Sorry just trying to get my head around how they work? Oh and do you need any special tool to fit them?

At the mo we have a 150 bhp Diesel Zafira but I believe I read somewhere that they are not a very good towing car?

    Thanks for all the input

The next question I am sure you have all foreseen is: what second hand 5 berth caravan for a family with 3 young kids 😆

Oh and then what tyres for …..

I currently have both and it’s virtually impossible to tell them apart. You will love either, I do. Whichever you choose you won’t know how the other will compare, unless of course you get to try it. Not sure if I am helping, sorry. 😆
