Depending on what you are using them for will determine how you cut them. I have built lots of retaining walls with them and depending upon what finish I require or the accuracy of the cut I have used a circular saw or chain saw. Always check for any bits of metal or clips imbedded in the wood before you cut.

Try these people, we have used them a couple of times, they really know their stuff and they turn things round very quickly, I had my spares the day after I placed my order.

We have just sold our Weeride. It’s been great for our kids from 11 months until they were 5!
It’s a front mounted one, between the head tube and seat tube. It’s ideal as the bike is still neutrally balanced you can chat and share the riding experience with your child and you can take the bike off road without worrying about them getting whipped around on a rear mounted version. From experience of both types the front mount one is best by far.

@Mbnut the Café and the bike shop are run by the same family and as you say the café is great. Great food great local beer and lovely friendly atmosphere. The shop is also friendly and helpful and we always have a great time when we visit.

I live in the Goffs Oak area and have ridden trails throughout Hertfordshire and Essex for years and I have a decent catalogue of trails I can string together with minimal road sections that can be tailored to weather conditions and target distance. I am happy to share what I know and we could probably compile a great ride for the New Yaer.

It would be good to organise a ride out.

    Hi Trimix

That looks like a great idea. I will see you in the morning.

    Thanks for everyone’s input.

    Thanks fd3chris

I reckon I could piece together most of it from memory but I am reluctant to head over on the off chance and end up having a frustrating ride by not getting it quite right.  Thankfully Trimix looks like he may be able to help me out so things are looking up.

    Thanks for responding though Chris.

I just used PP a minute ago with no problems.  The button was in its usual position!

Not quite the North West but this guy is well regarded and does an excellent hassle free postal service.  I would confidently recommend him from experience:

    Cotic Bfe 27.5 new geo!

I am amazed no one has mentioned it already. It literally does everything superbly.

Do they have permission to connect into the public sewer. I used to work in the water industry and the arrangement you describe is fraught with issues. Why are they routing through your property?

I have a new one, and I have three old ones of varying ages and I can confirm the new design is a completely different bike. I really like mine but it’s worth recognising that most of the new flush of hard tails are adopting the latest geometry trends and it will come down to your personal preference.

I am absolutely happy with my new Bfe but I do not have any genuine experiences of other modern frames to compare it to. I really like Cotic bikes so I bought another.

I see you wish to buy new but I run a set of 26″ Lyriks, Solo Air(originally 160mm travel) set at 150mm on my 26″ Bfe and it suits it very well and the bike gets well used for everything. Its a very confidence inspiring combination and very durable. Its a solution you could experiment with quite cheaply.

I drilled my old BFE ( but don’t tell anyone). I used a short length of transparent brake bleeding hose, cut along its length and wrapped around the dropper hose then inserted into the frame. Works very nicely and is not too ugly.

Yep I have used them several times and I have been very happy with the results. As others have said he really knows his stuff and my Lyrics are working beautifully now.

He recently relocated to the Brink Cycleworks shop near to Chicksands.

Yep Mh I like the presentation of Ryan’s bikes and similarly, in particular the Solaris MAX. Nice choice of colours and components.

It’s not even a discrete invasion of privacy as it is so noisy and irritating, so in a bizarre way the invasion feels more acute.

I have no personal knowledge of ultra events but they interest me from an impressed bystanders perspective.

From what I have read the levels of exhaustion experienced by these competitors would mean that it is very difficult to make a rational decision when at the extremities of their endurance so they may end up riding until they fall off. There are bits of car tech that detect drivers awareness and if they are falling asleep, could something like this not be applied to the Ultra event world and remotely monitored by the organisers, then they could intervene before things get out of control?

Aha I too am looking for one of the old boxer twin BM’s to ‘cafe’ up or street scrambler.

Ah it was the frame that was confusing me.
My ty 80 was great and always performed faultlessly however the 175 had carberation issues from new and always was temperamental. There were issues with the reed valve and the air cleaner made it run very oily.

Yours is lovely though. Will you be using it in events?

    is it the Ty250?

I used to have a TY80 then a TY175 they were great fun.

You have done a delightful restoration job there. 🙂

Ironically I had one for sale on here last week. As has been said they do a good job but the cooking area is quite small and I sold ours because we are a family of 5 and it’s too small. Also the non stick cooking plate slopes away from the centre towards the edges and without buying the ‘ fence’ thingy it was really fiddly trying to keep food from flying off onto the floor. If you are cooking for two then it would do very nicely, it lights easily every time, it cooks nicely and it uses a minimal amount of briquettes.

If you do buy one I found Zipp fire lighters the best and charcoal briquettes carefully placed in the fire basket worked best. There is a large one available if you wanted to go big.
