Thanks everyone, that’s all really helpful.

Its nice to have a bit of reassurance from people who have done it when the wobbles start.

Everyone is struggling to get acts this year, I thought Glastonbury would be the exception to this, apparently not.

Weakest lineup I have seen from them in a long time.

Set up as winter road bike, have changed the wheels since this but I am very happy with it.IMG_0534

You will want laminated acoustic glazing, something like pilkington optiphon, make sure you get acoustic trickle vents if you need them as standard vents will just compromise the unit.

For a commuter the only answer is a Honda VFR 750/800 in the best condition you can afford.

I am on a 2.0 Dirty Dan, the old version is still floating around (i think the new one is significantly heavier) and is a cheap, light mud tyre, works well in the slop round here, yes its very draggy but its a mud tyre so always going to be.

A week in morzine in December then a week with Stevo in Sainte Foy in January.

I have been very lucky with the snow for a good few years so slightly nervous that my luck will run out in a El Niño washout or two.

Having always used stans, I have moved to silica this year. Very impressed, has sealed well when needed and I like that you can just top up with the refresher.

    Definitely worth a look

I enjoyed the gig and more importantly my daughter had a great time. I hadn’t heard the album before and had only heard the Narcissist on the radio so wasn’t sure what to expect, definitely a bit of melancholy and reflection in the songs, but looking forward to rehearing it a few times.

Yes will be at Hammersmith with my daughter, somewhere up in the gods, but she was delighted to get anything

Well my 14 year old daughter has managed to get tickets to Blur performing their new album at Hammersmith next week so I have been press-ganged into taking her.

Will be my first gig as a punter in about ten years, but only her second ‘big’ one so will try and feed off her energy and enjoy the experience with her.

I got a pair a couple of weeks ago, very impressed, light stiff roll well and set up tubeless very easily and the extra width was surprisingly noticeable on the tyre profile. They also look very classy and understated. I have used campag wheels on the road for years in all weather and never had any issues so am not expecting any with these.

I got them from bikeinn for under £900, delivery took a few weeks, but I wasn’t in a rush. definitely worth a look.

NBC saying $787.5 million dollar settlement, that’s going to hurt even Fox.

They still have another case in New York, so hopefully get stung for at least as much agin!

We have loads of peli cases at work and have used them for years, now moving to the Dewalt tough system 2 with shadow foam, cheaper and the ability to clip them together is very useful. So far just as tough and waterproof

In the same position as our Octavia estate has just died, was looking at replacing with the same, but ended up going with a Volvo v60. I wanted a diesel manual and the difference in price wasn’t much at all, collect on Saturday, but seems a lovely place to spend a lot of time in.

Crossclimates have not let me down yet, that includes lots of muddy festival sites in a van, if the clag of Kendal calling hasn’t stopped them I doubt a bit of snow has any chance!

It’s not the 38 degree maximum where we are that I find worrying, it’s the 25 degree night time minimum!

Triple glazing is for thermal, acoustic laminate for noise.

Pilkington optiphon or similar, if you have trickle vents make sure they are acoustic trickle vents.

Off out to Morzine on the 11th December, currently bouncing between excitement at the weather forecast of almost continual snow till then, and fear at if it will be cancelled. If I was going later I think fear would be winning, but hoping to get in before the lockdown.

@dmorts I would broadly agree with everything you said, I will try not to derail the thread with a rant or long boring lecture (it may be to late for that mind!). Noise nuisance and abatement notices etc is a key part of what i do, unfortunately i have been an expert witness in court on both sides of the fence far too many times.

The biggest issue in the UK is that noise has no real Central Government management, unlike most other countries there are not really any national rules or directives as to acceptable levels, for planning guidance the NPPF and indeed the noise planning practice guidance make no mention of decibel levels. It is just farmed out to Local Authorities to manage th ebest they can, and they have had a massive loss in expertise over the last 10 years or so.

Anyone can set themselves up as a consultant, and historically most of the wide-boys got picked up by the Local Authorities and after a while of all their reports being refused they stopped getting so much work. I would be very surprised if that was happening today.

Creeping backgrounds will continue in urban areas, the changes to BS4142 in 2014 made things better but didnt fix the issue, and unless there is the will from Central Government to fix it then it will not change.

In terms of noise nuisance and this case, there are no fixed levels for noise nuisance, the assessment is always (and the courts have ruled can only ever be) a subjective one. This takes into account among other factors the nature of the area, the frequency of disturbance, the time of disturbance, the impact of the disturbance.

That an abatement notice was served in the past and another was served recently indicates that works were successful in abating the previous nuisance, but there has been a change (most likely new residents) which has lead to another one being served. Abatement notices do not have an expiry date so if the original nuisance was reoccurring then the first notice could in theory be enforced.

If the issue is structure borne noise then the addition of insulation etc will not have any impact, it will likely be necessary to construct a room within a room to mechanically isolate the sound from the structure, that can be more expensive than building a new building.

There is no absolute requirement to abate the nuisance, for any commercial premises there is a defence of ‘best practicable means’ which means that everything that can reasonably be expected to abate the nuisance, taking into account both cost and loss of earnings, has been done.

The petition will have no impact on getting the Council to withdraw the notice if they are confident a nuisance is occurring. But i hope that a way forward can be found that will allow the venue to keep operating and achieve best practicable means (oddly they may already have it, as the duty to serve a notice is still in place even if the council think they may have a BPM defence).

I don’t know the venue in question, but across the country there have been and will be issues arising from the Government grating permitted development rights for the conversion of offices to flats. Until they brought in the Agent of Change principal, there was nothing that could be done to stop the conversions.

Music venues and Nightclubs which had operated for years without causing a problem to their neighbors, because their neighbors were not in the building when they were open, suddenly found themselves surrounded by people living in adjoining buildings complaining about the noise.

Councils are required by law to serve an abatement notice if there is a nuisance, that someone has moved to the nuisance has not been a defense against it for the last 150 years or so. All this leaves a great big mess that for once actually leaves me feeling sorry for the Councils (mostly but some are just ****).

Ex RAF waterproofs (imitation goretex) the perfect over clothing for a bike, cheap, properly waterproof and a nice blue colour with reflective band rather than camo.

That over hood jeans and leather jacket unless it’s properly minging or cold, then it’s rst waterproof trousers and dainese goretex jacket, with waterproofs over the top to actually keep things dry.

Around 60% of our work is festivals, so it’s been great to get the money coming in. catch up with everyone who works them in all the different capacities who we would never see other than at a festival and find out how they are etc.

But I had forgotten the sheer joy of hearing a very good performer who you would never normally listen to, quite possibly of a style you would never listen to anywhere else by choice, but still being blown away by their skill.

Twice recently the first act of the day has had everyone in the front of house with their jaw on the floor, with small local acts who deserve far more than to be playing to 10 punters.

One of our guys described listening to live music again as like having a shower where you know you need it, but after you have it you realise just how much you needed it.

So stay safe, stay sensible, do what’s right for you and your health, but if you love music then I promise you you will love it all the more seeing it live again.

If you look at diagnosis of “soft tissue sarcoma”, you will find that diagnosis is far from trial and fraught with misdiagnosis.

Can agree with this, my dad had a soft tissue sarcoma in his shoulder, was missed twice by the doctors and the speed it grew at was staggering, went from the size of a cricket ball to the size of a size 4 football in 3 weeks. He ended up with a forequarter amputation (at the height of first lockdown).

Unfortunately six month later and it’s back on his lungs and is not treatable, but diagnosis was really quick this time so clearly COVID hasn’t stopped all cancer work.

Have ridden a mountain twin as an all round board for the last three years. Cant recommend it enough! Poppy, jibby fun whilst still being fantastic in powder.

It is a perfect stiffness so will give support when pushed, but still a really fun board.

I haven’t ridden this years yet, but i am fortunate enough to be able to get some brands at cost, and would happily pay full price for another

Very warm but did give my Achilles the worst blisters when they were new.

As above the building regs are not retrospective and if you have a completion certificate the you are ahead of most people!

When the tank is replaced it needs to meet the current regs but as long as they are not highlighting any issues with the tank itself then such as uv damage, cracks or rust then it’s just for information. Probably 95% of tanks in the UK don’t meet the current standards.

I have that DAC, I have been using it with my wired IEMs to get over the lack of a port on iPhones

I have to say I have been very impressed and it has performed better than I expected and I have to agree with the review, particularly around keeping the detail, rather than just adding punch (which it does too)

I have been wearing some Englebert Strauss ones all summer, very light and have a mesh upper so breath really well. Have stood up to the abuse they have had and I really rate their stuff.
