the struggle is tough but doable but I wouldnt want to do it as part of the whitton, but I wouldnt manage the fred whitton. we used to do it on the mtbs to get to red screes hick up to the top and ride down.
RscottFree MemberAs i say feel free to come and sort it I’ll take the spacers I fitted out and you can try, if you bring me some forks or a wheel i’ll build them or service them for you. as I say first mech I have not got to fit. And i understand that 8spd normal works with 9spd.
As I alos said I hadn’t taken into acount the BB altering the chain line as I expected that with them being the organals the parts supplied in the cost would fit with a little adjusting. If the same post was made and the shop hadn’t closed i’m sure most would be saying pop back in.
RscottFree Membermy point is the mech wasn’t set upright and my other had payed at the time a high end and respect able bike shop to set it upright. And then wonder why local people don’t support them.
There isn’t an excuse for that even if you are closing down, this wasn’t the first bit of bad service we had had from them or others had in fact it became a running joke with the owner. If you came in with some useful information on how it was could be fixed people may listen.
This is the first time i have not managed to fit a front mech and feel that a mech that you can buy for £9.99 and £30 fitting isn’t acceptable.
RscottFree MemberAnd trail rat I did say been out the buissness for 8 years, the BB and cranks are the originals so I had never put that into the equation, but it would make sense that a shorter bb would probably have put the chain line into a better area.
RscottFree Memberok comeupyou can have the mech and the bike and set it up. As i said allis sorted if you read my posts you will find I actuly know the bike shop owner personaly, But Obviously you have your head so stuck up your own arse you cant read the posts. there ended up being 3 of us trying toget it to work and I didn’t all of us build bikes regularly and know what were doing.
As i also said it is now sorted and the issues was the cage was too narrow to accomodate the chain lines.
But you don’t want to hear that becasue obviously you cannot be wrong.
RscottFree Memberthe bike was a good size untill she damaged her back as i said we sized down to make it more comfortable for her Injury. Its sorted now i have had my roast, but next time im in the pub with said person i’ll be letting him know.
RscottFree MemberI have sorted it with some dodging, the limiter screws wouldn’t move the cage enough.
scunny already said I had moved away.
and as it happens I grew up in Huddersfield and now live there once again,
My brothers 51 and called Dave too. Only joking but I do live in Huddersfield now
RscottFree MemberMy main annoyance is that we have no comeback on services that we have payed for once a company has liquidated. and that maybe these people can learn for the future why they lost busines as i would more than happily support a LBS if they provide a quality service.
RscottFree MemberHora knowing him personal he wouldn’t give a hoot and as far as his life goes he’s doing more than alright.
RscottFree MemberI beg to differ, the cage on a 9spd front mech is narrower than an 8 speed, which when the rest of the kit is almost 20 years old it makes shifting difficult, any self respecting mechanic would have put a 7/8spd mech on there and seen that the shifting is much easier smoother and accurate.
I say this as an ex mechanic, (been out of the business for about 8 years) and having tried several different mechs I had lying around i can tell you the only ones that worked as they should when paying £40 for a cheap mech and fitting are the 7/8spd ones. The irony is the last time I was in his shop a good year before (as I moved away) he was complaining that nobody supported the LBS,I wonder why?
RscottFree Membershould have let him pass if he continued to accelerate of drop peddleand shw him who’s boss if he pulls back in accecpt the tow as a reward for your good turn.
RscottFree Memberyou will need to get the egr wiped from the ecu or the dash light will just regiter a fault. there are no advantages perforance wise just meansyou wont need to replace the egr or clean it again, if it works like its ment to you mayfind a very very small increase in fule usage but were talking very small.
RscottFree MemberYou guys need to chill, not condoning it but go to eastern europe russia or nepal/india and see if you think the a9’s bad.
RscottFree MemberI commute by bike and car, First words with driver exceptable as driver was wrong to do what he did but chasing him down and confronting a second time makes them both as bad as each other.
Both deserve a good talking to.
If i have not made it to a ASL box before the light hits read then I stay out of it it is a solid white line there for should not be crossed. But thats me looking at it from driving and a motorcycling point of view.
RscottFree Member5thelefent I think you’ll find he is a professional journalist.
Comedy is funny, what he does is bully and insult, people who find this funny are genraly people with a Low IQ and no morals, people who wouldnt stick up for some one beeing bullyed or who would sit back and watch it happen infront of them.
I’m not saying you are one of these people as I don;t know you but that’s my Genral findings with in his fan base.
RscottFree MemberHe is a highly educated, Yet Miss informed baffoon that not only cannot drive very well, but actually has very little knowledge of the industy he is in.
He is a journalist that says what he is payed to say to make as much money as he possibly can, and gives journalist such as my father (in the same industry) a bad name and reputation.
RscottFree MemberAldi in kendal or barrow 15 or 20 hour contracts pays ok for stacking shelfs if you just do the 20 hours your wage would be just shy of taxable too.
RscottFree MemberBrazil, Was introduced to this around 10 years agon and watched ita few times since at first i didnt get it and though it was a waste of time but as I grew up its shear brilliance became present tome.
If you havn’t seen it or heard of it you should.
Clock work orange is brilliant as well but only if you know the story behind why and how the book was written, Stanley kubrick did an excalent job of it once the writer had come round to the idea.
Both films way ahead of there time and deserve to be seen as classics
RscottFree MemberHow bigs your oven?
How much other stuff do you want in it?
Oven size – Other stuff = size of turkey that fills the space.
RscottFree MemberThe Vito’s suffered from rust as did alot of mercadies including c and e class cars, as they had not used galvanised panels. They started galvanising them in 06 so if looking fora vito the 56 plates and upwards are normaly a good bet.
The new hyundia L100 or iload seem to be a very reasonableprice but there alittlemore expensive have seen some 09 plates and 10plates gofor £500 with warrenty left on them.

RscottFree MemberShe’s 16, in what will be a hard enviroment, Of course she wont like all of it who does like all of there chosen job career. I did my childhood dream job for 6 years and in the end had enough of it, now My job sucks 90% of the time but I love the time I have off even more.
I think she will come round to it and if not it will always look good when looking for future jobs/careers as long as she completes.
RscottFree MemberI use a set of Victoria nox knifes, they feel and are amazing, however there not the new breed of Victoria nox, they’ve been handed down through two generations and are from the 50’s.
new ones arn’t as nice unfortunately
RscottFree MemberWell, they are a pest just like any other and need to be controlled. I’ve noticed a marked increase in badger road kill over the last 2 years, and I live in an area where there is no culling. The ‘save the Badger’ campaign has been too successful. The natural balance of nature was lost the day we invented agriculture, now its upto us to maintain a sensible balance of species population control. The number of slaughtered cattle far outweighs the number of Badgers to be culled.
Who decides this? are we not a pest to nature? who controls the cull on humans?
RscottFree MemberOpen Repair, Unfortunately the surgeon did say it was worse case scenario on time but the 6 weeks immobilized was going to be compulsory.
Eh – dinnae eat as much. Ride no handed. Perhaps a unicycle might be a good investment.
you’ve never had a limb immobilized due to an intrusive surgery have you?
RscottFree MemberIf you haven’t already settled this/told him to swivel.
I he has gone out and bought clothing all ready i would suggest he has been a little hasty if he thinks your paying for them. If you do decide to replace them insist on the old clothes in exchange for a like for like product that you have purchased for him, this way you can find the best deal, and make sure he’snot trying to con you out of some rapha for his aldi special.
RscottFree MemberIts to accomodate a step down head set better. so the crow race sits flush.
RscottFree MemberFuel consumption, you don’t buy a TVR if this is a high priority but going to work, 40 miles each way on the M5 steady 70ish I get over 25mpg, that’s on standard unleaded.
Put your foot down and that’s soon 20mpg.
On a track, don’t even ask !!those figures sound good to me, my brothers old Volvo t5 did about that, his new impreza does less, and my old impreza did even less than that.
You will love it then hate it then sell it the realise you loved it then miss it then get something better, so go for it.
RscottFree MemberI’ve had 2 both estates.
Ok to drive nothing special comfee to sit in (good Seats)
The petrol 1.6 was mechanicaly awsome, full service history but a little thirsty i got about 34 mpg tops, and the ignition switch kept breaking easy fix at £100 or clean your key every few weeks.
the 1.9cdti (150bhp) on the other hand was all the things the petrol was but with the added bonus of dual mass fly wheel being utter rubbish gear box utter Rubbish and ecu U utter rubish.
Petrol all the way anything other than the 1.7 diesel stay away from. I have roof bars that are a bit rough and ready but with the correct feet for the 2004 to 2007 modle you can have for postage.
RscottFree MemberWhen i as younger I went on a ray mears bush craft course he spent the entirety of it eating mcdonalds and,his opening speech was he always carried a zippo and a knife. his crew laughed at himand muttered something about a caravan but i was far to excited to play with a zippo and aknife.
There all phonies.
now this guys good to watch, Rob Bredl
RscottFree MemberHalfords replaced a lad I work with’s bike as his brakes rattled it turned out it was the split pin after 4 bike’s be nice and they may even apologize for the inconvenience.
RscottFree MemberAt 6 in the morning i have no issues doing it outside work but always check for traffic during the day there isnt a chance i’ even try around my way.its easier to filter to the front and get of the line with the traffic, use the space I need and ignore the cars that think I’m a pratt oncethings have got going isimply move to the side to let traffic pass.
RscottFree MemberBreak sorry.
But I don’t really know using them’s over rated, they seem to slow you down which is bad form. (not that I’m fast)
RscottFree MemberI bought the second hand cube areil of the Classifieds from 2008, thinking i’d upgrade to 105, but in all honesty, i changed the cables and its slick. (2008 tiagra) I wont be changing them till they brake.
RscottFree MemberI’m currently 84kg, and ride on wheels suited for 82 and they have been fine.
But seriously 82kg isnt heavy,
Its 13stone. I know BMI is flawed but for a 6foot man your just overweight, just to give some perspective. There are alot of people kidding themselves that they are lighter than they are.
On a chart maybe they are over weight, but A BMI is some ones opinion on paper, (I am over weight and a bit chubby at the min) but i Know a guy who’s shorter than me and weights 16 stone but hes far from fat. I wich people would stop referring to this and look at body fat Mass Which means a whole lot more
RscottFree Memberwhat do you not have one of these for days like that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reIHx1ozxYk
RscottFree Memberi asked if i could spend £1200 on 2 new frames, 1 for me, 1 for her.
she said only after we’ve bought her a new commuter.
I read this as computer, and was going to say, go to aldi buy a cycle computer for £4.99 Then get on the bikes.
My missis does his then i remind her our deposit would allow us to buy a garden shed at the min not a house.
