It seems that the suppliers are doing there up most to keep customers happy (to an extent) But the issue lies at saracen and madison who refuse/dont/lie when they do or don’t reply. I’m still waiting for a reply email that i was prommised now 4 weeks ago.i was promised this on the phone direct from the person who was dealing with my issue.
It seems madison/saracen just don’t care and will say anything to get people off there back.
RscottFree MemberI will start with the car, Audi A4 estate 2.0t, Its big enough for kayaks and bikes. Its comfertble as i do 25’000 miles a year. And most impotantlyits reliable. its got 80,000 miles on the clock and only had the tyres brake pads and usual services done.
It avarages 36mpg round town 48 on the motorway.
I have 9 years ncd and never had points. I’ve been driving 9 years.
I drive to make progress but do the speed limit, i leave space and dont tail gate i indicate when moving lanes and turning at junctions, i will happily sit behind cyclists untill i can see a fair distance to over take them.
I will use my horn when cut up i will slow down and be a pain in the arse when tail gated and i will get out my car and tell cyclist who use it as a prop to get the hell off it. (this does happen)
I didnt buy an Audi to have one i bought it as it was the best car in my budget with the least miles and the best service history. I payed £3500.
RscottFree MemberThe x fusion shock on the Aries preformed incredible with a much more noticeable difference between its 4 settings over the fox’s 3 once set up its performance is incredible. I can’t comment directly on there forks but my brothers seems to rate his slants and when I borrowed themntheybseemed pretty goodnsit a little far into there travel than I liked but I’m sure that could have been altered pretty easily
RscottFree MemberI wouldn’t rely on anything saracen or mansion said and I’d avoid the frame after severalnsets of bushings and a frame replacment in the space of 2 months I managed to get a refund from freeborn. I asked them to forward my complaint to saracen/mansion before this, it took quite some time for madison to reply making me certain promises to which I’m still waiting 3 weeks on for them to fulfill. Terrible service terrible design and appoling turn around time. Avoid if you value your time.
RscottFree MemberI know some one selling a rover 214 for 500 quid,it’s a x regarding I think and has a fair few dings usage but runs fine and mechanicalrunns sweet it has got around 130000 miles on it though and it’s based in Preston. Sure he’d take lass as he’s moving to Germany pretty soon.
RscottFree MemberJustbsounds like formula brakesndoing there usual trick. Probably nothing to do with the heat. My mate litraly got a new bike 2 weeks ago next day rear brake locked on.There was a thread with the same issue I belive it was when’s a lbs not a lbs.
RscottFree Memberwrughhh mihgt have t change our destination, don’t want to be blinded by those overly garish kits they wear. (say the guy with the orange bird aries)
RscottFree Member14x been back several times even had frame replaced and new bushings in it.The amount of time i have now spent trying to resolve this and without a bike i will never be buying a Saracen again and will activly avoid buying from freeborn. the customer service was excelent to start but they soon got bored and fed up which made me get arsey plus long time to respond to emails/phone calls and turn around times were never the 2 weeks max i was told.
RscottFree Membersecond hands not really an option unless you accept credit card, and the real must is the 30.9 seat post due to having purchased a Thompson post that can no longer be returned due to the time (and fact its been used) that the warrenty not that its worth the paper its written on, has taken
RscottFree MemberPersonaly id rather pickle my eyes in dehydrated drunk camel urin than watch lucy again.
RscottFree MemberSimple answer is NO all the end caps are really is spacers, the internal diameter of the axels are different.
RscottFree MemberIf you have a pro 2 and want a 135 qr, its an easy swap i have an axeland end caps you can have, if you can wait till next week when im back home, the axel works fine but does have a flat edge on one lip. it doesnt effect any performance though.
RscottFree Memberpretty much get a shock pump and trial and error till you find how you like it there is rough guides to the forks usualy on the air side leg of rock shox,
RscottFree MemberIf we are looking for out and out mobility and power howabout one of these bad boys http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2383113/Gun-company-displays-largest-caliber-rifle-created-bullets-cost-40-piece.html
RscottFree MemberThis is the second frame they’ve thrown at me, that’s the issue, I’ve been more than polite and patient but now feel that someones just taking the proverbial out of me.
RscottFree Membercamping at sligachan was the plan, and the route begingint with Q wason the cards but the rest of the week is to be determined
RscottFree Membermehh asmost of my friends who have kayaked and bked with me would tell you i appear to be ammune.
RscottFree MemberId rather do a list of stuff not to buy their, with exception from the specials. The only things I wont buy are the ketchup instant coffee and branded bread as there own is not only better but has less preservatives in it. But I am biased as I work for them.
RscottFree MemberSome one mentioned a 5g top cap, once the bearings are preloaded and the stem tightened you could loose it all together, you could do this via a head doctor and remove that too once done meaning no star not or anything. I HEAR a drill and hack saw can be handy on steel frames (joke) but I’m sure there were people drilling small holes in brake leavers cranks and random parts to loos a few grams.
RscottFree Memberno euphemism natrix they spent there honey moon in south africa deep sea fishing and wildlife safariing, and moved on to madagascar, the only thing they hadnt book that they wanted was that but they had kind of spent up by then they ear enough to have a lavish wedding and honey moon something i will never be able to say. Plus when we were younger we all went to mexico they fell ill and couldn’t come on the diving trip to which i rubbed it in there faces for quite some time.
RscottFree MemberI bought my sister and her husband a shark diving tirp for there honey moon £125, i tried to do the lad afavour so he cant say i never did anything for him.
for non family around £50 to £75. depends on your means not theres, one of my friend refused to take anything as he new i couldn’t affored it, he also said i do enouth for him in help with repairs to his bikes kayaks and help round his house.
Real friends will just be happy you could join there day
RscottFree MemberDon’t worry the flex in the bike that the tapered steerer, and bolt thurs takeaway the bigger wheels add straight back in, by having 11/8th and oq your counter balancing it by having normal wheels.
Thus meaning the trails willfeel the same.
have fun and take your time the bionic nus will hold upto alot,(bionic shoulder convert)
RscottFree MemberI’ve been going through joe at freeborn was i bought it from them, he has been incredible, massive thumbs up to him, but the paper work shows hes sending it to sportline which is a seprate side of madison.
http://www.sportline.co.uk/RscottFree MemberI was going to suggest citris lime but was beaten to it im pretty sure they do training days and the likes when instaling too
RscottFree MemberAs it turns out i can reject the frame and get a full refund, which will be my next port of call if the replacement isn’t right.
RscottFree MemberHelitaped down tube, rear stays, high wear areas, getting a roll of tape is around £20 BUT getting it finished to a high quality is very time consuming or expensive, seening as i payed for it doing last time it was expensive.
RscottFree MemberUnfortunatly Dunlop are no longer a major player as a company, and although are very expensive tyre’s they are owned and mearly rebranded goodyears nowadays.
RscottFree MemberAriel 14x back from madison with new black bushings, play again after 10km, there now replacing frame but i can only imagine the replacment is going to need the original tan bushings changed imediatly
RscottFree MemberThe shop have been more than helpfull, but i did buy the frame online and they are some distance away, hey are going to replace the frame Saracan Ariel, but now i fear the replacment is going to have the same issues as it seems like a common thing with the nor glide bushings, (mine were replaced with the new black bushings but that didn’t help either.
The annoying thing is the fact i have to keep building and stripping the frame, which includes bleeding the brakes to thread hoses. My old frame was frame tapped up which they arn’t going to reimburse me for.Im also not really in a financial situation to pay for the new frame to be taped up or to be hiring a bike.
RscottFree MemberHiring a bike r getting the shop to build it’s not the real issue the issue is more that the bike is now going back for the same problem for the second time.
RscottFree MemberSo when is it time to call it quits, the frame I bought and sent back has been returned to mee with some changes I’m happy with this so build my bike back up for the second time strip brakes and rebleed them to thread through the frame. Go out for a gentle ride to see how it holds up before my weekend away, and it’s still doing the same, so far i’ve had the bike for 5 and a half weeks 3 of these have been back at warrenty. Can I reject the frame and ask for my money back, this put me out of pocket for time and parts such as frame tape, seat post yet more brake fluid and the likes. It also means I’m gona need to hire a bike for my holiday which I’ve already payed for flights for. It also means stripping it down yet again.
RscottFree Memberid just put someair in the valves and have a play with pressures untillyour happy, i run minimumsag on my 2012 rev rtc3’s probaby about 10% but i like ,my suspension firm.
RscottFree MemberA lower leg service shouldn’t really make much difference to how they feel, it really just cleans out the lowers of crap and immulsified oil, the air and everything mechanical is in the uppers, you may have let some air out bybaccident when removing the uppers,
RscottFree MemberMine too Adam, having said that I was told they had only heard of the issue once or twice before. They’ve now had the frame more than half of the time I’ve owned it
RscottFree MemberI have nothing intelligent to add to this thread but you obviously haven’t been to the village fair enough if you think gold fish are resilient.
RscottFree MemberPageus powder coating in milnsbridge huddersfield, they dipped blasted preped and powder coated a full sus for £60 Went to pick it up and they had prepped the axel and bearing cups the bottom bracket had been reemed and the head tube faced.
RscottFree MemberIf you buy a ex RAC/AA van make sure to check the suspension as they carry a lot of weight and tow reasonably large weights regularly, ind one with a new altinator, starter motor and new belts, they sit ideling over for hours at a time and and are turned on and off a lot. Even though there clocks may say they’ve done 80’00- they may have had the stress and wear of a 200,000 mile engine.
on the other hand you may get a minter.
RscottFree MemberDo anything on your bike that makes you smile, skids, wheelies, endo’s anything.
Don’t put others down who are on bikes as they make us all smile. and a bad day on the bike is still better than a good day on the office unless your office is on a bike.
RscottFree MemberTried a few hated them, but im also in that camp with dropper posts. and 27.5inch wheels and 29inch wheels, but there because i couldn’t tell the differance so couldn’t justify the cost.
