Right lads, I’m going to start a new religion. We are going to ban beer, bacon and scantily clad ladies.
Any takers?
How the **** did it get so popular?
I’m still surprised nobody has developed a bluetooth accelerometer based system, one on one end of the shock/fork, one on the other, work out the differences in acceleration to see how much travel your using, etc. I had dreams of doing something like that with my bike setup app, never had the time, money, or knowledge to take it that far though.
Ouch indeed, but i’m slowly recovering, you’ve focused on the details of the image rather than the thing as a whole. I like both the photos because the rider doesn’t stand out, think singletrack cover v MBR cover, part of the enjoyment of biking is being in a big forest and these capture some of that for me at least, and both did what I wanted. Its more than just shadows this, blah that, zoom, crop, etc.
I had the S120 for biking duties, was reasonable in good light, not so good in the trees, replaced it with a RX100M2 which is much better, still use the iphone quite often, results vary depending on light (obviously)
shimano shoes are on a par with vxi’s in terms of durability.
I went from original impacts which last many years to the shimano flats, last maybe two seasons, vxi’s lasted about 18 months, just picked up a pair of sam hill’s but they feel too heavy, considering keeping them for winter and getting some specialized for the summer.
For short rides close to home, a phone (with credit card and driving license under the case), keys, small snack like cliff bar or energy chew things, water bottle, I also have the ridiculously expensive specialized swat cage with multi-tool. Longer rides, a pack with all the other usual stuff.
I use a spreadsheet with all my regular expenses allocated for every day, which is easier to update if you sit at a desk all day, I update it every few days, which is as simple as updating current balance, adjusting if I need to pay off the credit card, etc. then delete the rows above, example below, numbers changed to protect the innocent! There are some more linked columns off to the side with balances for savings, cards and line of credit, so I can project how long it’ll take to pay them off and how much I will allocate from each pay.
I have it with a sony 4k tv, its good, but the tv does a pretty great job with regular HD content, that the difference isn’t massive, i’m happy paying the few $$ more to know i’m getting the best out of the tv. It doesn’t blow my mind like some of the youtube 4k stuff though.
I have one, a 2014 carbon, so a bit shorter than the 2016, it’s a great bike, handles whistler bike park breaking bumps better than a 200mm flatline, pedals up hill great with the suspension open, let me know if you have any questions.
I just took a look at my old one bed flat in a not super high demand area but still half way between Glentress and Edinburgh, bought for 78k in 2004, sold for 115k in Nov 2007, its been on the market for around a year or so now, currently at offers over 97k, ooof! not sure what the point was… but I guess that place after 9 years is still very much in a dip.
I had a m4/3 system camera with stock lens and a couple of pancakes, it was still a pain to carry the extra lenses, whether on a trip or biking, swapped it for the RX100 which still works almost as good capturing bike shots in the trees and is much easier to take with you. I wouldn’t go back.
leave the flash off, select shutter priority, adjust shutter speed, you can leave it open longer if people are still and smiling for the camera, if you’re trying to catch people moving/kids running about, you’ll need to go for a faster shutter, If I can capture fast moving bikes in a forest this way, some people at the dinner table should be doable.
If I can have a poo and eat 33 malteasers and still be 100g lighter, its a win win win! I have sixc carbon bars for no other reason than I wanted them, not even sure I notice a difference, but I do eat a lot more malteasers on every ride now.
I had the original shimano flats, they were great in the wet, reasonable grip, but as above fell apart quickly, tried on the new AM7 the other day, but didn’t like the double flap thing and it seemed too small when I actually put my foot in, only the edge of the velcro catching. My last shoes were the vxi’s, good grip, reasonably shower proof, still had days where my feet would be saturated, the sole fell apart in about 18 months, just bought the sam hill’s, haven’t worn them yet, they look massive compared to what I remember, having a pair of the old impact sponges, they also seem really heavy, but I remember them having great grip, we will see…
What they all said, we had some fun with this recently, wife looking for a new car but not looking to buy right away (didn’t tell them that), we were literally just looking but wanted an idea of deals, its amazing what they will do when you keep saying no.
less likelihood of going over the bars if the bike is more in front of you was my understanding, sure I read Gee Atherton saying something like that about the new Fury at the time. There are definitely times on my relatively short Troy that I feel too far over the front, usually steeper, slow speed stuff where you get hung up on a root or something.
