presumably it wasn’t totally random and your daughter got punched for a reason, whether she deleted it, said it face to face, or even rumors jnr said something, not saying its ok but when these thing started when I was at school there was usually a reason.

I finally managed to see it, as many have said, I thought it was too contrived, trying too hard, couldn’t work out if conversation street and the celeb bit were them taking the piss out of the old format or they thought they were good. Maybe that was them saying the celeb bit is dead, I’d like to see them do it with a decent car, nothing too powerful, maybe the FRS or GTI or something. The American was annoying. Track looked shit, with their big budget surely they can get access to a proper track. I also thought they would be driving in each location, isn’t that the whole point of a grand tour. I actually liked the hypercar bit, and taking the piss out of james but even the studio stuff with them just talking seemed more forced than it used to be. I’ll keep watching hoping it gets better.

I’ve found netflix 4k to be no better than the regular Hd stuff, its not the tv because some of the 4k stuff on youtube is miles better. My 40k tv is hardwired to a 50Mbit connection too.

If you believe in climate change, then we’re going to see ever worsening storms of higher intensity, personally I wouldn’t touch it, and look for somewhere at the top of a hill. Just to add to that, historic patterns are no indication of the future these days.

Done the fully joint thing previously in a past relationship it was terrible, felt guilty spending my own money and then ex would want to spend the same. Now separate works well for us, the mortgage and related costs is paid on the ratio of our salaries, whats left over is ours to do as we please, i.e. no asking permission to buy a new bike. I wouldn’t do it any other way, might be diff if you have kids and one half isn’t working though.

@rs is that a Trump hater saying he is a Nazi ? Vancouver is pretty liberal yes, heavily Democrat area ? Don’t know. All racism is vile.

I doubt its a trump hater, trump inspired hater more likely, I assume its some sad little man feeling a little empowered on the back of trumps win. Of course that feeling isn’t as predominant here, and why the situation in the US should make them feel empowered here is dumb but a little worrying too.

I’ve been reading the Shaun King twitter feed (you should all check it if you haven’t already) during the day which is saddening enough, to finish the day seeing that in my own neighbourhood, its just a massive FFS, what a sad world we’re living in type of feeling :?

I’m not wishing them a civil war, but tensions are building pretty quick and I could see it happening to some extent. And he didn’t say stuff to kids, other kids are chanting stuff at other kids on the basis he made remarks along similar lines during his campaign.

Look at say the wars in the balkans, years of underlying dislike for each other and suddenly it comes to a head, helped by the US I should add.

Trumps not uniting anyone, I just don’t see it, we’re already seeing kids in school shouting white supremacist nonsense at kids of other ethnicities because trump did, so its ok! I’m predicting a racial civil war of sorts, time to finally use all their guns for the intended purpose!

Democracy isn’t the problem, its what he does with his role, not sure if this has been posted, but read this twitter feed https://twitter.com/ShaunKing, some pretty horrific things happening on the back of trump. Certainly makes me not want to visit the US anytime soon.

Looking for positives, if the dollar tanks like the pound did after brexit, bikes and macbook pros might get cheaper again!

Canadian trees don’t just mop up Canadian CO2. Silly statistic. Plus there are studies showing that tree cover actually increases warming outside the tropics, because the absorbtion of CO2 is cancelled out by the reduced albedo, meaning more of the sun’s heat is absorbed. In the tropics the growth of plants is vigorous enough to swing it the other way.

Damn! That’s my armchair emissions education debunked!

Canada has about half the population of the uk, calculate emission by land area and the uk will be “more polluting”. In the grand scheme of things, seems like they are both pumping the same amount of shit into the air.

On the other hand, Canada has more trees to absorb all the CO2, so maybe the uk is a bigger polluter overall… Canada has 4,916,438 km2 of forest area, v 28,650 km2 in the uk (from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_forest_area)

Is emissions per tree better than per capita

mine started doing something similar, I guess it depends if its having an effect on performance, for me it was, and it turned out to be a blown something or other.

My 11″ Air has been awesome, love the size and portability, I got the basic one and its worked flawlessly for the last few years (touch wood), I’m really surprised they got rid of it. I guess the 12 inch macbook is a similar size but it’s much more expensive. I’ll be keeping this for the forseeable. They are really missing a product for the basic user.

I’m 5’10” tried a medium and large around the block, felt too stretched on the large, went for the medium and happy with that choice. seat tube is very short though so had to swap out the 125 dropper for a 150 which is no bad thing in the long run (painful at the time of purchase though). Still playing with sag on it, going back and forward each ride to see what I like.

the XT 1 x 11 shifter feels a little bit clunky, no idea what SLX or XTR feels like, GX shifter I have now feels much smoother and requires less effort.

A rim on its own certainly isn’t stiff enough to resist the vertical forces applied – it only does so because it is built into a prestressed structure.

A carbon rims is, spokes almost just hold it in place around the hub.

For me, staying true is a big advantage of carbon.

The funny thing, if you can call it funny… I heard the situation in Kosovo, essentially giving a region of Serbia to the Albanians, was the equivalent of giving California to the Mexicans, now who would support that?

Interesting, if you have a couple of hours to spare watch the weight of chains on youtube, its definitely not as clear cut as western media made out, and if you believe it all, could have been largely orchestrated by the US. You’ll see many US companies did well out of it all. My wife is Serbian, but born and grew up in Croatia, she had to leave Croatia during the war as it wasn’t safe to stay. I still don’t fully understand it all, they were all at it!

should definitely be an excuse to get a newer lighter bike! Another plus, if the roof starts leaking, you already have a drainage channel.

Isn’t that exactly what’s been happening over the last few years? Bikes getting longer and slacker, trail bikes with 150mm+ forks, etc?

I’d also say trail/enduro bikes with 6″ or so of travel are better these days than some dh bikes with more travel from a few years back, also many dh’ers are using air shocks, so must be some benefits over coil. I had an Avy coil boxxer, My stock 150mm pike felt almost as good.

I’m fine leaving the last inch for big stuff and screw ups, that’s what its there for, not for every little rock or root.

edit: and this doesn’t make the fork harsh at all.

re. the transition, I like the colours, last bike was black so time to brighten it up… the metric shock is a bit of a worry if there are issues, ironically one of the big selling points for this other than the good reviews was the 142 rear axle so that I can use my carbon wheels. But now I will have a new standard shock :? That shock and the lyrik is kinda why I went with a 2017, the first ride reviews on it (on a patrol) say it makes a big difference.

stiffness of boost just isn’t required with wider rims coming out these days, I just ordered a 2017 bike, and 142 rear hub was in its favour over some other potential candidates, other pluses were thread in bb and space for a water bottle, simple things that ruled out some other bikes for me.

For previous bike purchases, standards were never really an issue, but I now have some pretty nice carbon weheels and they are moving onto the next bike so it had to be compatible, previous average wheels would have just been moved on.

I’d say it also depends how firm you run your tires, I was running 20ish psi on similar rims and the tires would roll a bit in corners, now with 31mm inner width rims the roll has gone and it feels much better cornering. If you run say 30psi, likely less benefit.

unfashionable? You’re not getting away with thinking your on some exclusive cool because its not bike that easily! Rocky’s are cool and you’re now a fully paid up carbon bike snob fashionista!
