Went from a Devinci Troy with a Monarch to Transition Patrol with Super Deluxe, so two different suspension systems and amount of travel, but I was not amazed by the rock eating capabilities of the new bike… early reviews had talked about magical performance, blah blah, not convinced, looking to try a metric CCDB when they’re available.

GTI DSG here, leave it in D mostly, and drop to S for any overtaking (by pulling back gear shifter), find this is somewhat akin to a manual, in that you get to do something with your hand, but rather than change down, you’re changing mode, no real lag on mine doing this. Sometimes leave it in S just for the fun of pushing the pedal and having that instant go! I did find at first pulling away in D was very slow, even compared to my old SUV, just needs a bit more aggression with the pedal though.

I just had this happen recently too (6s plus), normally take it out to grab a few pictures snowboarding but kept it out a bit longer to take some video and it cut off, when i switched it on later still had 85% battery, now I know why I guess.

If downtown bike lanes are reasonably snow/ice free try the mobi bike share and explore the great bike infrastructure. Also do a loop around false creek burrard/olympic village/granville/burrard https://www.mobibikes.ca/ bring some gloves, helmets are supplied and are mandatory but i’ve seen few wearing them, also return the bike and take a new one every 30 mins or it costs more.

You definitely won’t be doing any biking that’s for sure! Longest time i’ve been off the bike in about 8 years because of this bloody snow. Go skiing/boarding on one of the mountains, do it at night which is quite cool and cheaper. Its not that cold, not like proper canada cold.

A M Patrol earlier today…

My inlaws just bought a seagate external drive that specifically said its easy to transfer between mac and windows, it installed some drivers on the mac, I presume to help it read the windows file system it was set up with from the box.

at 5’10” the stock 125mm dropper wouldn’t extend high enough for me on my M, had to get a 150mm, no bad thing in the long run as I now get more drop but was painful having to shell out for a new post right after purchase. the seat tube is definitely a little short.

my work laptop is thinkpad with touchscreen thing, I’ve used it about half a dozen times in a couple of years to mark up pdf’s. Most of my time is spent with the usual word/excel/email type stuff though so i’d say its a bit of a gimic unless you have a specific (probably arty) use for the screen.

I’d like to say i’m out, but i’ll probably still watch it. 1st world problems I guess.

We’ve pretty much reached saturation point with traffic these days, cars have become too successful for their own good and where you design for them you ruin it for everybody else. Designing for historic traffic growth is also a never ending battle, you make space for it, more people drive, you have to make more space for it, its use needs to be restrained like it or not, and the ideal way would be pricing road use as you drive to a level where traffic moves reasonably well. Little things like the OP posted are a microscopic contribution to that theory, but at least says we’re taking a little back from the car drivers.
